After having just watched BFBC1, that really feels like it was a tech demo for BFBC2. The writing is god-tier, the visuals were a huge jump, the gameplay and set pieces kicked up a notch... Bad Company 2 will forever be in my Top 3 Games of all time...

Best part of this was when the airplane blast and the team talking to abort. After that they pump in the sky a shoot the bad guy without parachute.
The only thing I didn't get in this game was why didn't the main 4 ( Preston, Sarge, Haggard and Sweetwater) just run off with the gold from the first game and just leave? The Army thought they were dead or A.W.O.L so they wouldn't come after them. Sarge could finally go fishing, Sweets could go to Grade school, Haggard could buy Truckasaurus and Preston could do whatever.
I think that was an intentional joke...the 4 of them had this grand plan to make off the merc gold and seemed to do it at the end of BC1. But they were right back in the same old mess by the first modern-day mission...probably got caught in their way to AWOL freedom and managed to save their skins by saying they were trying to get enemy gold to safety and had to give it up ;)

I like games with NPCs that actually do something besides standing there shooting at nothing while waiting for us, the players, to kill the goddamn enemy 2 meters from that NPC's face.

+Gamematics Hey there. Im an immersive player especially with great stories like this. i love watching games like movies its the closest to an actual game movie thats enjoyable.ive watched a few of your videos. just suggestions id like to point out. Also some questions. do you play the games before you make the actual video? Its hard to get into it because sometimes it just looks like you havent played it before. Some of the cuts you do kind of send the game in weird directions that dont give any context. Especially this game and the last of us, its great following the character. Just suggesting to set up the cuts by at least showing the direction the character is going. its almost whiplash watching these. i can understand too not using the music so it doesnt bounce but thats the biggest thing that drives games like these. even separating the music and adding it yourself so it fits would make it even better to watch. i want to see more channels that do this but im sure executing it is challenging. Sometimes subtlety draws people in more. my big issue is just the camera direction and cuts between scenes. Theres just no immersion. thats how most movies get you to keep watching. Having said all this you are the most successful of executing these videos. Hope you take my criticism into account. id love to see these become true game movies.
Hey Khai! Thanks for the criticism. Certainly helps to improve the product. There are a lot of issues with the points you raise. I do agree subtle editing helps reduce distractions, I think you can see from the majority of videos on Gamematics that the subtle nature of our editing versus the others that make game movies is what separates us from them. As for some of the other questions you have, some games we have played many times before and some it is our first time playing....especially the ones we try to get out around launch. I think regardless we have very high quality of gameplay. Music is left out of some of the game movies because of copyright reasons, and where it is included we try to transition the best we can, but the capturing software on the market (we use 3 different capturing devices) does not allow us to isolate a music track to help improve the transition. I think first you have to understand how long one of the videos takes to produce, if you have never produce one of these game movies, it is hard for me to try explain the grind unless you have gone through it. As for better editing points, switch weapons...etc. We are very conscience of trying to make every transition as good as we possibly can, I watch each edit that I produce (lapman17) probably 20 times before I progress to the next cut. Don't forget that it is a game and we try to enjoy them as well at the same time trying to be as realistic or to add that humanistic element to the character (i.e. looking around and consuming the environment), sometimes things happen like a glitch in the capture, or the AI says or does something stupid or controller dies, so deep in some of the capturing sessions that it would be heart breaking to have to start over, so as much love and care that goes into the gameplay and editing, the same amount of logical sense needs to be applied to not spend months on a single game. Also, please don't post the same comment on multiple videos, I will see it on one video and usually if it isn't off the wall or flat out rude....I will respond. We do want to play and enjoy games like everyone else, we love producing content for UA-cam, but at the same rate if you are an immersive gamer, then there is no more immersive experience than playing the game for yourself. It is so hard to bring that immersive feeling to a game movie of 11hrs (like gta5) or a 3 hrs video like many of the ones I have posted without spending weeks on it. Even after spending weeks and weeks on an edit, someone will still find something wrong with it. I will continue to do my best, and if that works for you maybe you could subscribe to the channel some day. Thanks!
Gamematics i have tried before to do these but for lack of resources i ended up giving it up. i know its inevitable for certain games to master a perfect edit. Specifically for games as last of us or uncharted, even just a specific pan of a camera direction, especially towards the landscape, makes it that more enjoyable. I enjoy the immersion of the game playing as much as watching it. Even more so watching since playing it you end up having your own conscious. playing very story driven games, i love being taken through the journey then actually being in the journey. Haha also i only commented multiple times cause i didnt think youd actually read it. thanks for taking the feedback and ill stay in tune for further videos.
