  • I finally got the Lithium battery running on solar in my travel trailer. Although the solar panels are solar, it seems to be working great. having the ability to charge the battery with solar is a game changer for me. Soon I will be looking at off-grid camping. As for the inverter, more to come on that. For now, I want to show you the solar side of the project and how that is coming.

I was watching your video, & was surprised to hear my comment being read. You are a man of your word, ha! Tks. Have you given any thought to running bigger size wires to your battery? It seems all solar panels come with 10 gauge wire. I have 330 watts of solar, I ran the wires in parallel to a combiner box, & then out of the box I ran 4 gauge wire to my charge controller. It's harder to work with 4 guage wires, especially in tight spaces, but I haven't had any problems. I know bigger wire is more expensive, but, for the time being, I have 3 lead acid batteries. Soon, I hope to get lithium. Take care!

I have thought of bigger wire for the battery to inverter side. I would like to go bigger than 2/0 but the inverter will not accept lugs any bigger than that.

I will be looking into this system. We own a 2019 26dbh. I find your channel very useful since the trailer is are 99% identical. Great info. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the feedback. I have some testing to do once the weather breaks. I want to see how long the system will run. I am hoping that I can get 3 to 4 days in cooler weather with this system.

I too run, what I call, an umbilical cord system. Currently 400 watts of panels mounted on the roof with 3 100 ah lipo4 batteries and a 3000 watt inverter (unlike you, I’m not interested in it being removable) I’m sure I can get my investment back if I ever sell or trade up. keep the vids coming!

I never thought of the umbilical cord terminology. Love that thought and will have to use it in upcoming videos.

    Great video Jason ,
Glad you mentioned the air conditioner. Means we might get a little test on that running off the inverter in a future video.
I just ordered a soft start for my AC last week. Not installed yet but hoping it makes a big difference. I tested my generator on my AC before we left for a week of boondocking and it worked great. But I tested it only minutes after unplugging it from shore power.
Went to fire up the AC while camping and the generator wouldn’t start it. Had to turn everything off and reset generator and keep starting it untill it finally went. Probley not good for the AC unit.
Noticed in the brief shot of the solar controller hook up that you used Anderson connectors. Great call on that. They are the best.
    Keep up the great Videos.

The anderson connectors are amazing and make it so simple for conecting and disconnecting. As for the AC on this system, there will be a video coming soon with that being one of the points in the video.

Perfect Video! I'm so glad you don't do those 30sec to one minute intros that a lot of other tubers do. I do like the way you are interacting with your viewers. Very down to earth overall, and keeping it simple. Keep up the good work.

I use the enduro's at work. We have 7 of them doing a variety of things. Absolutely recommend them. Customer service is impeccable. I just finished installing 300 watts of renogy panels on my surveyor 276bhle and a victron 100/50 in my pass through. I also have 2x the 100 watt renogy suitcase panels for their manuever ablilty. Great channel and easy to follow.
