Fabulous, FZ forever! (plus some compositions by Bernhard Gander, John Zorn and of course FZ favourite, Edgar Varèse. Thrown in to put the overall performance of FZ's work into some context with Frank's influences, just for good measure. What a treat, Is it my birthday?) Wish I could have been there in person for the performance.
Fantastic, glad you uploaded the performance for the world to hear. Thank You x

Nice, although the title is quite misleading. Still, brilliantly performed w/better-than-expected sound quality presenting FZ' et al's work in the superior manner deserved. And really, given the majesty & sophistication, this UL represents a fine public service. Even if it isn't all TYS. So, thanks Altea Media.

I realize that I could simply record this or, as many readers would otherwise suggest, subscribe to YT, and normally I wouldn't mention this at all, but: The frequency of ads playing during this video is unusually and saliently high. Like, annoyingly high. Not a complaint, but on a related theme, it's worth noting that in other civilized, modern, Western-style democracies ads are by law only allowed prior to and after a TV show or movie. Never during. Pretty cool, right? And that's just one of a plethora of nice things they have in Europe and elsewhere that, were we better informed and aware of just how many nice things we're disallowed while our allies and other nations thrive from said nice things, we'd be up in arms demanding these societal niceties for ourselves.

I for one, living in France, was not entitled to such societal niceties. Thanks for the nice music despite the despotic ads!

BRAVISSIMI.

Nihilism set to music, orchestrated post modern nihilism. Zappa is to music as Pollock is the fine art.

Great performances by this ensemble... though I have to say that Dog/Meat was a bit too chaotic. Felt like they were trying to differentiate themselves from the EM recording by playing it considerably faster. Felt like the conductor made the wrong call - the winds were struggling to keep up in some places! But bravo to great performances on some really difficult pieces. Loved the Zorn piece too - hadn't heard it before.

I would not call this a tribute to the Yellow Shark????
Only the last 3 compositions were featured on the yellow shark, and the other 3 are from the Boulez conducts Zappa album.

not only but also, if it's a tribute aimed at Frank, why do they have to drag in other composers? accredition by juxtaposition? as if there're not enough further scores of Frank's to've decimated a forest somewhere; surely an 8o-minute all-Zappa program could easily've been assembled. not that i'm not grateful to hear especially the Varèse but couldn't the fulltilt (15-minute) "Outrage at Valdez" ("The Valdez Score") have gotten a first performance - or any other of the numerous works we've not really heard performed live yet?

I am confused, what genre is this? I appreciate all music but this just sounded like noise to me. Not putting it down in any way, if someone could explain the genre and some details about it so I could better understand it I would greatly appreciate it.

modern classical music in tradition to Edgar Varese, whom F.Z. admires and was inspired for a lot of his compositions. Hear it further times and you will discover his great beauty and soul! Give chance and it will stopp to be just "noise" 🤗🌻😎
