the Royal Netherlands Navy could do with a fleet of carrier strike force bcos it's needed for both RNN & NATO . . . a 58,302 ton (63,284 ton loaded) stealth (CATOBAR) aircraft carrier powered by iFuelCell3® RedOX-HYBRId™ M-FEP system . . .

With all respect; replacing a crew of 180 men on a frigate by a new type of frigate with only 120 men is not so much because of the updates. It is more due to the lack of people.
Usualy, if a ship is hit by waepons, it needs those surplus people on board pretty hard; A part of the crew proppably is taken out of action (dead, wounded), so another part of the crew needs to repair the ship to keep it in sailing and hopefully in fighting condition, meanwhile taking care of the wounded. While the third part of the crew is needed to sail on and fight on. Hence one needs three times as much crew as only to operate the warship! There is no such thing as a replacement of crew!!

Exactly! I totally agree with you. It's the lack of human capital & not so about automation & being hi-tech.

The threat for Europe is fm the Russian army, waising money on ships doesn't help much, esp since the cdr of the dutch navy clearly stated a while ago they don't have the personnel to man those ships. More defence: yes, prioritise anything that can win in Lithuania and Poland where the next fight will be

NL has a number of treaty obligations and also maintains relations with a diverse number of other countries, some of which include military support/training. The country does not need to practice any expansionist plans to field relevant capabilities to address multi-domain threats (terrorism, piracy, rescue security, etc.).
Sometimes enemies don't clearly identify themselves with colorful uniforms and a mandate submitted to the UN. Your question merely displays your ignorance.

I didn't know the Netherlands had a blue navy, I thought it was more coastal defense.
