As a guitar synth player I'm glad more companies are getting on board but most of these things need MORE. We're only gonna get the kind of fat sounds people are after with more "oscillators", filters, cutoffs etc.
Loved this pedal, fits great in really crowded pedal board. I do believe, however, that it is time for updates to the 7 modes and maybe different arpeggiators... honey moon period is ending.
Allen Butler Hey, how are you doing with your pedal, what sort of music are you using it for? I’m trying to find a pedal that can replace piano accordion and a brass section, do think this pedal will cover those sounds? Greetings from New Zealand. Mike.
I have the Boss SY-1 and the Meris Enzo, but I still would like to check this out when it becomes available. At the very least, it can be on the backup-board. 7 Presets is also quite impressive for such a tiny pedal. I don't think we need too many presets with this kind of pedal, but more is always better, of course. Overall, if it's ultra-affordable like I'd suspect it would be, then two thumbs up for Mooer.👍👍
@@sennstrato7281 Boss SY-1 tracks like Aragorn, Ranger of the North... Very straight-forward with 11 different types of sound, each with 11 different variation, so you WILL find a usable synth sound for you... I would sometimes find the best results with the Enzo in the send/return loop of the SY-1... You get some amazing sounds that way...
@@sennstrato7281 Maybe I’m coming in a bit late, but: I have the SY-1, which I think is a great synth pedal (sadly, my wallet couldn’t stretch to the Enzo, but one day...). Preset-based, so easy to dive in with; I can use about 70% of the presets (some are a bit gimmicky, TBH), but the good ones are great). Expression-pedal and footswitch “combo” input (it’s either/or); tap-tempo is possible, but for a single footswitch I had to have a custom TRS cable made. Overall: I definitely recommend the SY-1.
I ordered one, because I'm starting to think some of the negative demos which initially repelled me from being interested in this pedal, may have been by ppl who are biased vs strange or unusual efx, and they weren't interested enough to dial in deeper settings and only demo'd the canned presets.
Good job Mooer. Now the idea for the next guitar synth pedal. The external sync via midi on arpeggios is must to have. Please do something like that and I'll go nuts shopping. Cheers
The polyphonic on this one makes it better than Keeley Synth: that is why I kept the Mooer. A classic by Mooer along with the Yellow Comp Tender Octaver and Electric Lady.
Damn, this pedal is amazing! Ordered one right away. I'm part-way through writing and producing a synthy hardcore EP and this thing will work perfectly for the sounds!
I’m more of a producer and was gonna be a good boy and buy a bass Pre amp sim then I saw this pedal so my money went immediately to this thing 🤨 thanks for using chords to demo.
There are many on the market now, yet I’m still waiting for the one with “MIDI out” . The 9er series from EHX would be my best candidates. Missing the “wow” sound on this one.
Swan AMP thanks, will check out. Have a GR 55 and a GP 10, as well as some mono2midi (M2M). Also tried Hoxton Owl, made some “Pure Data” patches to convert guitar input via FFT into midi. EHX does that very well, just don’t like the presets. Maybe someone finds a hack for Midi-out (like on the Volcas). Mod Duo is a good candidate as well, got one recently. Happy spring, friend!
Just like a review said, this has a few sweet pre sets that make it worth the price. But then iit has a few presets (like 3l that would be usable if not for the ever present phaser effect going wweeeeeeeeoooooooowwwwww at a random speed.
Sounds better than hex synth9. No music but those are three times as much. I will get one of these. With my looper 2 amps and effects that will be nice. Plus my xwp1 on a looper pedal too
So close... if there was a “tap tempo” input jack on this machine, for external control the speed of the arpeggiator, the E7 would almost certainly be joining the BOSS SY-1 on my pedalboard. Actually: it still might...
I guess this one ain’t so bad but,..having the Source Audio C4 already in use,..this is winding up to be as it’s priced. Not bad tho’ if one just wants “some Synth Sounds” and NOT expect much else. But if ya want more functionality,..you’re gonna be reaching into your wallet to pull out way more💰👌🏾That commented ,..on the real,..combine this with a good Chorus & Delay/Reverb pedal and you’ve got something to play with that should bring out a grin‼️😁🎛✨🎸🎶
all the patches almost sounded the same including the arpeggiator. good to see companies are getting into guitar synth pedal in a cheap price but got a long way to go yet!
Anyone actually played with this and can attest to its ability to track chords? I'm not looking at actually using it in any noticeable way. I'm just looking for a small layer to give dimension and beefiness to my rhythm playing since I have alot of gigs with only a drummer this summer. Almost like a reverb that no-one notices but that makes people go "damn they sound bigger than just a drum and a guitar"
The tones are ok for the price, but the arpeggiator without tap tempo (at least) is pretty useless in a real context. I'll save for the SY-1, the Synth9 or the Enzo.
doesn't sound super good, but you might as well get this over an enzo imo. the only thing you'll get out of a synth pedal is annoying/amusing whoever you play with and eventually realize you should have just gotten an actual synth.
Personally, I want some sounds but I don't want to have spend hours creating a sound, twiddling knobs and thinking about how an oscillator works. I just want a few key sounds - piano, organ, strings, maybe some others. I also want them without a hex pickup. I thought Roland was headed that way when the SY-300 came out, but I guess they're moving slow on this.
@@GearOfDarkness Thanks, I have looked at them, but again, they're kind of some of the way there. I'm going to try out the SY-1 since it seems to cover more of the bases in one unit.

Not a patch on the dirty robot. cheap sounding in the face of a mono synth and the arpeggiator is useless. for a ring modulator I prefer my gonkulator and I'm gonna be honest, I'm in a bad mood after playing with it feeling proper let down. it's a lemon.
