Also there are 2 kinds of heartless , emblem heartless which you fight all the time and are hearts without bodies and pureblood heartless that are made out of pure darkness and come from the realm of darkness , also they are alot stronger and more terrifying than the emblem heartless , a recent example of a pure blood heartless is Dark Inferno from KH3. The end.
gigaswardblade I’m not trying to be rude but we’d still have kingdom hearts 2 lol it was made before days soooo but yeah I dunno xion is an alright character but she wasn’t really needed but Ava or skuld might be the new “best girl”
I am surprised at how few likes these videos get. In my opinion they are some of the best recaps of the kingdom hearts games on UA-cam. Keep up the good work :D
This game has so much plot value and honestly the despair it inspires is surreal. I know the entire series has a lot of real life concepts they present in allegories and metaphors but this game in my opinion has the most immersive story because I relate to the conflicts of loyalty and friendship
Good recap but there was just one real error. The 358 plus 7 days doesnt mark a year from when sora went to sleep, but Roxas birth when sora stabbed himself. Remember, the events of Chain of Memories didnt start until about day 22- 23 in 358/2 days. And sora didnt even go to sleep until i think day 54 or 55. Also, perhaps it was just my interpretation but i never saw the intention of the mission with Xigbar, Axel and Xion to be xions destruction. I saw this because from the text, it seems like Xion attacked Xigbar. Axel asks her what is she thinking attacking Xigbar, and Xigbar just defends himself. Also, why would they want to destroy her at that point? She was the stronger of the two, and for her powers to have gone back to Roxas he wouldve had to have been the one to do it.
Thank you for doing this summary RIGHT! I was baffled and clueless by two summaries before this one. This is four times the length of many other summaries with all of the smaller details. I'm sure this took lots of effort to create, and I don't take that for granted!
wow, that was such a sad story. omg, so roxas was made with a purpose to be organization 13's little errand boy and to get hearts for THEIR OWN kingdom hearts. poor thing....
it would be impossible for sora to have been asleep for 356 days because thats the exact amount of days roxas existed before reuniting with sora, which a fair chunk of roxas' timeline exists before soras sleep
At the end, you stated that Roxas summoned both his and Xion's Keyblades. However, Tetsuya Nomura has stated himself that Xion's blade is Ventus's. How Roxas summoned Ven's Keyblade will be revealed in KH3.
@@cheetah672 Roxas’ appearance is that of Ventus and he can summon Ventus’ Keyblade because Sora’s heart has been serving as sanctuary for Ventus’ heart since the events near the finale of Birth By Sleep. When Sora stabbed himself with the dark Keyblade in KH1 he not only lost his body (which became Roxas), but he also for the first time in a long time let out a piece of Ventus’ heart. Which formed Roxas’ appearance.
Two questions. First how did xion end up taking the form of sora before her and roxas fought and were atop the tower? secondly why did rikku feel the need to let ansem take over JUST to capture roxas? I guess I'm not sure why he would give himself up to ansem for that end
+mistadopeyy Xemnas scooped her up when Axel delivered her and finished making her into a "Sora doll". For a while, anytime Riku dipped into the darkness too much, looking like Ansem was a side effect.
SO WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT JUST WAIT A DAMN MINUTE IM USED TO SORA AND ROXAS NOW BUT HOLY SHIT WHO IS VENTUS IVE NEVER HEARD OF HIM JESUS CHRIST THIS STORY LINE IS SO COMPLEX ITS GIVING ME A HEADACHE
CosmicCruel he's from the game kh: birth by sleep. He's the reason roxas looks like him (ven/ventus) instead of looking like sora. Because ven's heart was already inside sora as roxas was born.
Adonis Tenebrai some people as kids didn't have to option to buy all kh hearts games, especially like this on a hand held. I played kh1 and 2 on my ps2 but was never able to play the others because of money...
Amazing summation! I understand that I am more than late in relation to the release of this video. The reason being that recently, in preparation for the (hopefully soon) release date of KH3, I wanted review the story of KH thus far and that endeavor has led me to re-watch the cinematic for 358/2 days to sort of fill the gaps of my understanding. Having done so, there are still a few questions that remained despite my attentive view ( that is thanks to kh's broken story telling). That has led me here, to a video that has given a valuable perspective on this story. A video that has shown careful research and provided an understandable explanation regarding the respective course of events. Well done Oni!
I'm also more than late. Watched the full cutscenes movie of Re:Chained because I disliked the gameplay, but then I found out that the 358/2 version on the PS4 was also a movie. So I had to watch this summary, because I spent 5,5 hours watching Re:chained, haha. Going to play KH2 for the first time now!
1. Roxas is the nobody of Sora, he is the one that took Sora's body at KH1 after Sora became a heartless (Sora got his body back due to Kairi). 2. Roxas, like other Nobodies in Org 13, has Sora's memories. I'm not sure how this can be explained, but his limited understanding of Sora's memories could be due to the short time Sora was a heartless then going back to being himself -- Similar to KH3, when the Nobodies lost (along with their heartless' already being destroyed) they end up becoming back to their original selves destroying the Nobodies. But Roxas never did that, still not sure why but I think it's because of Ventus. 3. Roxas was a happy accident for Org 13 as they want to get rid of Sora by all means to create Kingdom Hearts. But given Roxas' connections with Sora, they made a replica (Xion) to represent Roxas and by proxy Sora to make sure their plan of destroying Sora would work and this succeeds with Xion continuously sucking up Sora's memories faster than Roxas (why is that, IDK) which makes Xion faster and Roxas weaker since they both share memories from the same pool (Sora's memories which are scattered due to Chain of Memories) -- the destruction of Sora would be completed by not allowing Sora to recover his memories that are now stored in both Roxas and Xion. 4. Xion recognizes the problem and wants to give herself up by getting rid of her memories to give back to Sora (did I get this right?). This is done by having Xion, with some memories of Sora, go back into Sora with both her existence and memories of her existence going away. But Axel stops her, she loses to him, Xion is then juiced up on Sora's memories so much she now looks like him thanks to Xemnas who at this point doesn't mind to see Roxas be destroyed so Xion can be the ultimate backup of Sora. Juiced up Xion still loses to Roxas, who at this point has lost memory of her, and dies in his arms. Before dying however, Xion tells Roxas to destroy Kingdom Hearts created by Org 13 which ultimately would mean Roxas is to fight Xemnas. 5. As Roxas goes to do so, he is stopped by Riku. Remember, Sora's scattered memories are also in Roxas and he too is the same problem that Xion was to Sora's recovery. Riku then fights Roxas ultimately defeating him which also causes Roxas to lose all memory of Xion that was held on even after her death. The defeat causes Roxas to go unconscious which then he is transferred to where Sora is getting treated -- the point of knocking out Roxas is to take the memories Sora needs to recover away from Roxas and giving it to Sora, this causes Sora to recover but Roxas to not remember anything. Org 13 however will do everything they can to look for Roxas, and as a result he is put into a virtual version of Twilight Town for the remaining days left before Sora wakes up from his 1 year of sleep where Roxas lives a completely different life. Sad, both Roxas and Xion were ultimately used to further Xemnas (Xehanort) plans of Kingdom Hearts as well as Sora originally and even earlier Ventus.
I won’t lie, I was wanting to get to new content and new worlds so I watched this and Chain of Memories... but I now regret it and realize this game I should’ve played.
There's another beginning to Xion and Roxas's s story. An alternative I deem better than... this (I believe in forgiveness, but I also believe in paying your debts when certain values are violated, and the truth is, he still manipulated her into ending herself and, didn't reveal he planned to lead her brother figure into the slaughter). There's a good dark fanfic called "Twilight Will" in which he refuses to return to Sora. Sora is my favorite character... But I was very proud of Roxas for fighting to claim a future of his own design. Because that is how you know you're a living being. Any less, and you just happen to be a toy that breathes. And besides, a battle hardened soldier ? Forget emo Riku (yes, I'm aware I should have more empathy for him given what he went through), this is the dark badass opposite of the optimistic protagonist I wanna see. I love Sora, I understand their sacrifice was an option, but it shouldn't have been their first one. I mean, even the MoM created measures to ensure the survival and ressurection of his disciples. Then again, Riku was a traumatized 15 year old when receiving orders from the bitter sociopath who saw him and Sora as his weapons. It's incredibly easy to manipulate people who are constantly questioning themselves and carry a lot of guilt.

Well seeing as how Xemnas's entire plan hinges on either Sora or Roxas slaughtering as many Heartless as they can, if either one of them were to just...stop, then Xemnas's plan would be fucked. So as a back up plan he told his mad scientist to make a robot that he can control. That's what Xion is. It's a robot Vexan made to make sure that Organization 13 always has a keyblade wielder available to kill Heartless for them. And that robot can use Roxas's keyblade because it's powered by the few bits of memories Roxas has, which Roxas got THOSE memories from Sora. Really the only thing that derailed Xemnas's plan was that no one accounted for the possibility that Roxas would be autistic enough to fall in love with a robot clone. And also no one accounted for the possibility that the robot would grow to care for Roxas. Because everyone is blissfully unaware that they live in an anime where these things can happen.
On kingdom hearts 1-5 there's just a video of klngdom hearts 358\2days and that's OK with me but my question is when will the whole video game come out for PlayStation 2 or 3 or 4? Johnny
Agent69 Roxas wasn't ventus! Roxas didn't exist until Sora became a heartless in kh1. The only reason he looks like ventus is because ventus' heart was also in Sora.
+Oni Black Mage and my last question, i know that roxas is growing his heart, and one day will have his life (sorry about the other question,i just said the answer) but is axel really gone?, i know that his real person is Lea, but will axel ever come back?
She appears in pretty much every game made after 358/2 Days. The "being completely forgotten" thing was just an excuse for why she hadn't appeared in KH2.
Ahhh I see. Thanks man. One more question tho. I recently saw the 358/2 movie and I understood everything until I got to the end where Roxas wakes up and says something about having another dream about him (I'm guessing he dreamt about sora). Can you explain to me what that is all about?
Correct, he's talking about Sora. At the end of 358/2 Roxas is captured by Riku and DiZ and has been placed in a Virtual Twilight Town with his memories altered. At this time, Sora is sleeping and dreaming, and when Roxas sleeps, he sees many of the same dreams and past memories of Sora. It's a direct lead-in to Kingdom Hearts 2.
Sorry to bug you again, but I have one more question. I'm still getting bothered by the fact that Roxas wakes up and goes off with his day. It looks like as if he isn't a nobody anymore and has a heart. What actually happens at the end of 358/2?
soooo no one is going to explain what happens at the end??!! Wtf is Roxas doing in that room and where is he going? is it a dream, did he go back to sora?
8:51 am like whats the point of having thus kind of trows LOL and how the fuck do this guys get on thus anyways do they jump or they teleport of fuck it i give up
So... Heartless are hearts with no bodies... and Nobodies are bodies without hearts...
Goddammit Nomura...
KashelGladio makes sense to me
Hearless are Hearts.... goes to unplug brain :P

its like poetry it rhymes

Y'know even if you don't really like or care for Roxas and Xion as characters, you have to admit their lives sucked. :/
Roxas is a noble and commendable character. Both their lives are very sad.
When you think about it, the story is actually pretty well developed in this regard.
Good recap but there was just one real error. The 358 plus 7 days doesnt mark a year from when sora went to sleep, but Roxas birth when sora stabbed himself. I’m highkey depressed I lost this game
Thanks for making these recap videos! They turned out to be so important all these years later 😁

I watched the full movie (almost 3 hours) and it was kind of spotty through, but this really made shit so clear
I understood everything, but what i didnt understand is roxas suddenly waking up and all that. Can someone explain me this part?
TheJoniel50 This also the only part i still don't get
Riku defeats Roxas
Diz puts roxas in a digital twilight town where he wakes up
Kingdom hearts 2 begins
A better game than recoded for its story
Oh Roxas...TT ^ TT My heart aches for you man.
Is this a game where I have to play all the previous games
Yes and no.
I won’t lie, I was wanting to get to new content and new worlds so I watched this and Chain of Memories... but I now regret it and realize this game I should’ve played.
Such a really shame that it isn't on PS2 or PS3
It’s 13 years after this game’s release, and this ending still haunts me. Roxas…. Damn it, he deserved better…

So...what's the significance of the title? Is the /2 just referring to Xion and Roxas?
Damn...as a kid...I regret skipping the story, now as an adult it feels a LITTLE relatable..
God dang this should have been kingdom harts 2, the next one should be the 3 and the real 3 should be the 4th

Love Xion. Easily the best Kairi flavor.
Just finished this, what does it mean to be "Soras Nobody" I'm confused on that
watch the rest of the kingdom heart series he has ,maybe itll make sense lol. Im basically all caught up but still bloody confused. :P
Roxas is the "nobody" that sleeps within sora, that's what he means. Roxas was ventus before the events in kingdom hearts 2
Agent69 Roxas wasn't ventus! Roxas didn't exist until Sora became a heartless in kh1. The only reason he looks like ventus is because ventus' heart was also in Sora.
Derek Yew, Yup true.
basically when a heart gets consumed by darkness their heart becomes a heartless and their body is a nobody but roxas is a unique nobody
When you watch it emotionlessly, KH's story doesnt look so good. actually, i would say its pretty bad. I say it as a KH fan, i love the games.

The /2 refers to the two people that shared the same existence over the 358 days, that being Xion and Roxas.
And for the 2 screens of Nintendo DS console.

+Dane Rodrigue No
i think that is kingdom hearts 2
is it possible to see xion in kh3 or 2.8?
shes shown in 2.8 and 3 probably not
maybe she'll show up as a flashback but nothing more since no one knows her
she makes an appearance in DDD so yes she is in 2.8 and most likely she will in 3
She appears in pretty much every game made after 358/2 Days. The "being completely forgotten" thing was just an excuse for why she hadn't appeared in KH2.
So Roxas was put back in a real human body with a real heart? (I sound dumb asking this, but I've been confused about it)
Eventually, Roxas returns to Sora's heart and body, where he still lives in spirit.
Ahhh I see.
Thanks! This helped me out with my confusion
Wtf is Roxas doing in that room and where is he going? is it a dream, did he go back to sora?
idris307 the ending of this game is the prologue of KH2.
