    I started digital art on my smartphone in high school using Sketchbook! Now I've upgraded to a laptop that is two in one so I can draw directly with the screen, but it took years to get to that! But I created art that I am still happy with to this day using my smartphone!

      @@loveArtnotFood I can't remember the exact model but I think it was a Samsung phone. Though I did do art on a couple of my phones. Generally as long as you have one that can support the app from Google play, and I recommend a stylist, you should be able to get started! I'm sorry I'm not much help on the type of phone!

    I have an XP Pen display tablet that hooks up to my laptop. I use Sketchbook with it and I love it. They do everything I would need as I'm not worried about adding fancy effects as I come from a classically trained artschool background where it was all about mark making. You really can create great art with very basic equipment.

    I recently illustrated a children's book using Clip Studio Paint EX, and had no problems. I also enjoy using Infinite Painter for a more freeform, intuitive drawing experience, and Ibis Paint has always been fun. About editable files compatible with Photoshop-- I did a book cover in CSP a couple of years ago, and had to resort to exporting my files to Photopea, in order to send editable layers to the art director. CSP is supposedly better now. ( I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus to do my art. ) At some point I'll be purchasing an IPad for professional work. By the way, i use your brushsets in CSP and they work beautifully. Thank you for all the info and inspiration!❤

    Thank you for the helpful video! I'm looking into investing in an iPad and procreate as I've really enjoyed exploring digital art over the last few months. So far my favourite drawing app has been Concepts. The free version is fairly extensive, you can do a monthly subscription or you have the choice to buy the bits you want for example specific brush sets and that was really helpful for me as a newbie with digital art and not having to make a big investment up front :) x

    Finally got around to watching your newest videos and I love the set up you have. It’s quite similar to mine, but I have a pc I built and primarily use my iPad. I also use PS but for photo editing or exporting files from clip studio for final rendering (converting to CMYK or sending for manufacturing).
    It’s amazing what we have today and the portability. I have an older iPad Air and use procreate just for sketching or idea making and primarily illustrate in clip studio paint. For me, I find it’s the best software for line art and coloring. I found PS too tedious for illustration, where clip felt more natural, but had more control unlike procreate. 😅 also too procreate is limiting on smaller and older iPads!! Like it’s a great software, but I think others too better for final renders and fully flushed illustrations.
    I too was saving my money to get these things and am a designer! I love to get a newer and larger iPad, but I’ll have to wait for now.

    Great video as always with useful tips. I use Adobe Fresco premium and it’s only £9.00 a year. There’s not a monthly subscription. It comes with two extra brush packs and you can import Photoshop brushes. You also get 5GB CC storage, rather than the 2GB that comes with a free account. 😊

    I love your channel so much!!! I'm Brazilian and I follow all the videos! I have a question: does your laptop heat up the screen a lot? Mine is the Surface Book 2 and it gets very hot!!!! I can barely draw on it!! What about drawing on screen? Isn't it very soft?? Do you know if there is a paper-like screen protector? Allow me a correction: Adobe Fresco is free!/ You can use almost all the functions of the paid version. and/ if you want to pay, the amount is annual and not monthly.

    • @MimimooIllustration
      @MimimooIllustration  10 місяців тому +2

      Yes it can get quite hot when I'm in a warm climate! In cooler weather it's usually fine, but at the moment I'm in Brisbane and it's often 30°C so it gets hot. I'm also very hot in that weather though haha so I usually have a fan on to improve airflow and I avoid drawing at the hottest part of the day, and I close all of the programs I don't need to help my computer processing.
      And thank you for the Fresco correction!

    Love this video, Mimi! Do you (or anyone else in this community) have any experience with Gimp as an illustration / graphics design tool? I've heard some people say it's like a free version of Photoshop, but since I don't know how to use either software, I don't know whether that's true, and whether it's worth trying to learn Gimp for content creation or start with a more intuitive software. Also just curious to know, do you usually take your thumbnail photos with your phone or the Sony camera?

    • @MimimooIllustration
      @MimimooIllustration  10 місяців тому

      I've not used Gimp before but I know a lot of people use Krita as a free alternative to Photoshop. I've been wanting to try them out so that I can compare the free (or cheaper) alternatives.
      A lot of our recent thumbnails (including this one) have been taken on the Sony, but the more vlog style videos are often from my phone 😊

    I’ve been using Procreate for a while, but find the colors do not print correctly. Do you have this same problem with Photoshop? I’ve tried figuring out how to fix it, but so far no luck. I haven’t used Photoshop before due to the price, but if it works better in the end then I’m making the switch!

    • @MimimooIllustration
      @MimimooIllustration  9 місяців тому

      Hi! It might be a colour mode issue - if you're designing in RGB and then printing in CMYK you'll get different colours so it's worth looking into that 😊

    I'm not sure how to word this, but do you ever feel exhausted making all this art and seeing people who pop up all over social media talking about how they make $$$$ a week using AI art? Sometimes I wonder if I'm stupid for making my own art when I could just upload upload upload AI created art instead. What is your perspective?
