Honestly, the University of Connecticut should’ve just taken advantage of Covid instead of having the one year football shut down ended the program permanently They have always been and will always be a basketball school. To think that the men’s basketball program is tied with duke in the number of men’s basketball, championships, and far and away, has the most for the women. Also, the women’s basketball coach is the highest paid state employee in the state of Connecticut the only state in the US where the women’s basketball coach is the highest paid state employee.
College football expert? The ACC has a prorata clause for new additions. ESPN is contractually obligated to pay. UL Monroe has been FBS for almost 30 years.
No one should be "forced" to do anything. However, it would be for the betterment of their respective football programs if UMass, UConn, and others went down to I-AA.
UMass is whoring their football team out to P5 teams to get beat up in opening and homecoming games to support their athletic department. Being independent they can do it all season while most G5 teams only do it at the beginning of the season.
Texas State was actually good this year. They had a win over Baylor, came like 2nd in their division, and played and won in their first ever bowl game against Rice.
All about the subsidies ,take UMass for example, they had $58,440,119 in revenue and subsidies in 2023 and $57,649,039 in total expenses. They generated a small profit, which a lot of schools in FCS don't do. The conference with the lowest revenue and subsidies was the sun belt with $373,448,280. Breaking even or making a small profit being a member of a half billion dollar plus conference beats being in the FCS all day. Or in Umass' case be an independent and get paid 2 million per game by an opponent that wants an easy win.
So I'm of the opinion that forcing people back down to FCS is not what needs to happen What likely needs to happen is going to happen is you're going to have tearing with inside of FPS that likely will be based on amount of available funding in order to make it somewhat Fair paid which means the top 40 260 teams will probably be in tier one those that don't fit would then fall into a second-tier whether it would be a third-tier or not I don't know

I don’t think anyone should be required to drop down a level. If the school want their athletic teams to compete on the FBS level and they’re willing to pay for it, they should be welcome to do it. Now, that said, the National Championship level schools should have a required budget of $X and so you 95 schools, eliminate conference alignments altogether, computerize schedules across the country, and have at it.
Unfortunately most of these teams are being carried elsewhere. New Mexico has a pretty good baseball team so there’s no reason they’d move down, same goes for Texas State(if Texas State wasn’t in the Sunbelt then 90% of the time it would be a given that Louisiana would win the softball/baseball conference every year, there are other good teams they just aren’t consistent enough every year). There’s many other sports that go into determining what schools stay and go but most of the sunbelt ones.
No one is moving back down in fact Idaho will probably move back up. More FCS school are moving up. If they’re in a conference they’re also going to be receiving tv revenue which they aren’t going to get in fcs
The Mid American conference is very historic Many old rivalries......None of these schools will ever leave....nor should they. This video is ridiculous. Those teams go up and down.......a few years good.....a few years bad. It doesn't matter if they are not great........The MAC is a different animal...........Love MACTION every November.......Super..........People should educate themselves on the history of these schools. Many go back to the dawn of college football.........
All of that is true. But let’s be real, it would take an act of God for a MAC team to even get a sniff at a New Years 6 bowl, much less make the College Football Playoff. That should be the bigger argument that should be made as far as new official tiers of college football.
Can I get a MAC/Sun Belt challenge every year, maybe around Week 2 or 3? The Sun Belt has 14 schools and the MAC has 12, I think, but just play 12 games in all time slots on all the deep ESPNs and ESPN Plus. I'd absolutely watch this; I'd mark it on my calendar, in fact.
Sorry but no. As a current university of Akron student. They absolutely NEED to go to FCS. Akron is unbearable to watch. They nearly lost to Morgan State this year. They haven’t been even remotely competitive against other MAC competition for years.
The Group of 5 needs to form their own division in college football and have their own playoffs each year sanctioned by the NCAA just like in the FCS Division II and Division III.
I'm waiting for a G5 school to show up with a check when the new division is formed at the top and you have a minimum budget. They have gotten some wealthy donor or they contact the Saudi's and just plain buy their way in.
New Mexico State went 10-4 this year. They definitely improved

In 2021, Umass lost to two FCS teams and one of them was a blowout
Tx State just beat Baylor in Waco. 😆
WMU made the Cotten Bowl in 2016@@jcorona984
Sun Belt and MAC are very similar conferences. I have always thought they should schedule more matchups.@@michaeljohnson7493
In order to do that you need 💰💰
FIU should drop football
They shouldn't be forced down anywhere.
Some of the Group 5 teams that not good at all should be forced down to FCS program.
Umass can be good if they find the right coach
Yes but they need to move back to FCS status
@@freestateofgrizzy1937If Umass got to commit recruiting violations like Michigan and other BIG schools, they would be more competitive! LOL
UMASS Amherst is going to a Group of 5 Conference.
bro is so far from an expert
Texas State is a FBS they are fine they need to build up
When are you gonna do your first college picks for Betting
it was state with the hazing scandal
UConn made a huge mistake by not building their stadium on the Storrs campus
SBC would not let Texas State go back to FCS.
Arkansas State and ULM on the other hand….
I'm waiting for a G5 school to show up with a check when the new division is formed at the top and you have a minimum budget. They have gotten some wealthy donor or they contact the Saudi's and just plain buy their way in.
I live in San Marcos TX and you are right Texas St is a dumpster fire. Stadium is not bad. Hey at least they beat App St at home last year.
Uconn this year is going to be a top 75 program
Next do fcs schools that should move up
UMASS is so bad that they would lose to the top tier of fcs schools like North Dakota State, Idaho or South Dakota State. That's how bad they are.
I wish the cut off was 100 teams.
Why did UMass leave the MAC?
They stumbled around in accepting full membership and was dropped because of uneven divisions in the MAC.
Bro what is this 😂😂😂 and it takes money to build stadiums
