- A stunning version of Old Pine -genuinely acoustic - no amps! This was recorded in Ben's local indie store where he did an instore signing session the day his massive UK tour started and the day his album entered the chart at No. 6
You don't talk over Ben Howard when he's singing.
It's not about the money man, it's the joy you feel in doing what you love.
I think we can all learn from Ben Howard the guy loves his art and is brilliant at it. Hats off to you man, your a pure example of human value.
How on earth does he make that acoustic guitar sound so damn good??

I have played this song standing on a dock, on a lake in Alaska. Surronded by mountains that remind you how small humans are. Affirmation of life has never felt that strong before or since. I did it, "just to bless the morning." As it should be.
i dont think ben howard has ever picked up a guitar pick.. so awesome.
I'd give my everything to sing like him because I know that it would all pay off in the future.

Tuning is easy, it's just annoying when you want to play songs in lots of different tunings.

+döm Yeah, I wanna play Bens songs, with that funky tuning, Pink Floyd, which is regular tuning, and Led Zeppelin that has a lot of weird funky tunings aswell, haha I wonder if I could like get a separate guitar just for Ben Howard's tuning.

Wood has a certain timbre to it that gives it a specific tone. The tape changed the timbre and so the sound slightly. Drummers use little bits of gel instead on their drumskins for this effect.

People can’t stay the same forever and it’s great that he has evolved and done what he likes over time not just what the crowd want to hear
@@James-616 meh. Old live shows certainly better quality and energy, went a bit south after bond brothers left but I still get the new stuff it’s just not great live.

There is a pick up in his guitar, you can see the output jack on the strap nut on the bottom, he just isn't plugged in for this performance
His voice is very similar to early Dave Matthews but with an accent. :-)

John Tanman when you buy an electric acoustic the is wires inside that sometimes make a rattling noise when you play so he just used black duct tape or masking tape to stick the wires the side of the inside of the guitar

psy GangmanStyle Brandon Capello it wouldn't have any noticable effect on the sound of the guitar, he uses it to tape a mic inside the guitar
Brandon Capello Yea the tape wont make a huge effect sound wise. But the whole point of having a solid top guitar is for maximum vibration of the wood which creates a good acoustic sound. Thats y plywood topped guitars dont sound as good as they are unable to vibrate as much as solid top guitars.
