I was gifted an acoustic two years ago. I found your videos and learned quickly. You have a great, relaxed approach. The videos encouraged me in that I could play favorite songs with just a few chords. As I added new chords, there were some I thought I’d never get, but finally did. When struggling with a new chord I can remind myself that I thought a C was difficult or an F barre. Today I got my first electric and knew I could look to Andy to help me understand my new instrument. I was not disappointed. Thank you for all you do. I play everyday and it brings me joy. ❤️👏✌️
If it's the electric guitar that you want to learn, buy an electric guitar. If your favourite artists/bands use electric guitars, buy an electric guitar. Also, electric guitars are a bit easier to learn than acoustic guitars.

I have recently decided I really want to get good at the electric guitar, and so I decided that after learning the chords and accustic riffs in the queen song Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I wanted to learn the solo, and I learned the bare bones of the melody but then realised that I was kissing those hammering, bends, vibratos, trolls and bloody double stoops. Double stops are a total pain in the backside to do if you’ve never done the before. But that song always reminds me of Johnny be Goode, which sounds like its full of double stops. Makes me wana start learning that just for he double stop practice. A good little thing to practice of learning melody lines is your thing is the song Suicide is painless, recognisable from that drama MASH. Love that song.

Is it wise to start with learning electric guitar without learning the acoustic guitar? Or will I still be able to play it properly just by knowing some key point?

adjusting the overdrive/gain gives it a heavier rock like sound so you could try turning that up to get a diff sound. the EQ (equaliser) can make it sound thicker
Do you recommend a stop piece tail over say a strat type with tremolo. I’m a beginner and on the fence between an epiphanies please or SG or a squire strat or telecaster. I am leaning towards the tele. Thoughts.

Watching the first six minutes of this video all I've obtained is just to play around with some random cords.. I thought this was a beginners lesson so that I could understand the functions of the electric guitar, not find my way through it by just mirroring his fingers and strums. What fingers do I use for the frets? How should my hands be positioned on the neck? What notes come out of each fret of every string (I only know the parts from Googling them)? What exactly do I start with?
I think one point that needs to be made is you rarely use open chords and strum an electric guitar the way you would an acoustic. 95-percent of electric guitar is proper muting technique, power chords, bends and triads.

For Total beginners, you need a guitar, a real box amp to make it sound like this and then the tuning of the strings.
