  • Hello there to all of you, are you well?
As usual, it’s been a while so here’s a quick catch up with how things have been and what I’ve been up too plus I’ve been trying something new and it’s been quite a journey, which I am loving so if you can get past the 13 minute mark, you’ll see what it is I’ve been up too :-)
Thanks for tuning in and watching, hopefully past the 13 minute mark and I’ll see you soon…ish

Oooh I love these abstract paintings. I see all sorts in them, a big house overlooking the sea, boats in the water etc etc. Please make prints of these because they're right up my alley.
I enjoy looking at paintings that show you hidden things.

Thank you so much for your comment, everyone sees something different and I love that! I’m glad you like them, I have completely fallen in love with them, in fact a few of them have ended up on my wall now…and they look amazing even if I do say so myself :-)

Love, love this. I hope you make prints because I want one of each. I see a wolf and a body in the water with just the head showing. I see waves crashing under a dock. I see the Grim Reaper and it all belongs in this shadow world you created. I miss your videos by the way. I see people not normal people mind you and animals it's really cool. They look very chaotic your paintings like weird beings live in that world.

Thank you Gracie, there are definitely people in these paintings and then boats started appearing followed by an animal or two. It fascinates Me so much. I have created something of a shadow world, that’s a good description for it. Thanks for leaving your thoughts, I enjoyed reading them :-)

    At least you're still live!😂
First couple of painting I see underground caves with wave crashing in. A later darker one looks like a valley from a mountain top.
Generally I see ice/ lunar landscapes with crashing waves.
I could imagine some being in illustrations of LOTTR (mordor?) Or GOT (life north of the wall)
    Take care, x

Yes I’m still very much alive thankfully :-) They do have a LOTTR and GOT feel to them. Wouldn’t look out of place on a record sleeve either maybe. Thank you for commenting, I’m loving hearing what people see in the paintings :-)

WARNING: This is a long one.
I approach art in general, and abstract art in particular, as a kind of self-psychology. It's not about what the artist sees; with the exception of a video like this one, I'll never know what the artist saw or wanted to portray -- nor does it matter. I'm the one viewing it, so my perception is the only one that matters to me; the only one that I discovered on my own. It's a very personal experience, but that doesn't imply that it's private. Every breath is personal, just as it is for you, and everyone else. Our perception of art is like that, so I decided to take a stroll through my subconscious, using your beautiful artwork as the tool.
What I see in the first set of pieces:
1st one looks to me like a house or structure, lighted from within, sitting around the edge of a tiny inlet or cove, into which crashing waves are hammering large rocks and throwing up spray. I get the impression that's it's night time, or at least dusk, or (really, my favorite opinion) it's a dark gray overcast sky on a late autumn afternoon. Moody, energetic, and powerful.
2nd one. As a science fiction fan, my mind goes to an alien landscape immediately, but that's not fair, since I see an alien landscape in just about every random pattern. A bit more thinking makes me imagine a state of mind. Darkness in the foreground, reaching up. Lightness in the middle ground, like a valley or plain. And sky-like colors in back, spiraling downward. In the middle ground, we get tiny hints of yellow. I see dynamic emotion surrounding safety. Somber and moving thoughts outside of a space of self-control or unassailable will. Those emotions...not anger, but possibly impatience? Hastiness? Even regret? Whatever the case, the quiet valley, surrounded by dark shapes in front, and descending action in back, implies a strong center, safe from encroachment or bombardment.
Next, there were the two with too many reflections. Oh, well.
Then, we get one that's not in a frame or covered by glass. I see a landscape, with a line of shattered equipment in the near distance. I want to say they are war machines, but maybe they're factory machinery, now all broken and forgotten. In back though...murkiness with hints of action, possibly destruction, fighting -- or destruction through production (if that makes any sense), that is, loss and despoiling via commerce and/or manufacturing.
Next, flowing water; a shallow pool fed by a short waterfall and a stream. It's inside a shaded glen. A person sits on the edge of the pool, maybe fishing, maybe just thinking. A blue sky behind it all offers comfort: it's a beautiful day, and this is a cool place of serenity and contemplation.
Next, one you only showed for a moment. I saw a closeup of reeds by the edge of a pond or swamp; lots of life and water. Water seems to be a theme with these, but maybe it's just the color?
Then it was the next day (or another day, anyway).
First one: high, towering clouds, but not a storm, nor is there a lot of energy in evidence. It's like we're waiting for things to happen; maybe they'll be good, maybe not, but change is on the way. It's hidden, but it's big.
Next, the one you don't think is very good. I see a montage of landscapes: a forest of dead trees, or perhaps a forest in a snowless winter, with clashing moments from other places, in other times of year. There's water, and motion, but we're only seeing parts of the various scenes, and they imply conflict at some points, and extended serenity in others.
The one you think is horrible, which you're going to paint over. I see a fantasy scene, a battle, or rather, it's aftermath. I even see a cloaked figure in the middle distance, to the right. Destruction and no small amount of danger exists. I'm not sure what I think about all the brown, though.
The next one, with all the yellow and blue. I see a building, but nature seems triumphant, pushing it back, and away. Brightness and hope dominate all, and there's a clear, infinite sky above.
The next, mostly blue. I see castle in the distance, sitting in a land of plenty. a tower reaches for the heavens. We have brush or bracken in the foreground. We're viewing all this, but we aren't part of it. We're strangers here.
Next, I see an eye, or maybe a camera lens. What does it see? I think it sees everything, and judges nothing.
Next, I see a silhouette of a town, in mustardy yellow. Hills and trees are nearer to us, but a great shadow falls on the hill, coming from the left. It's not sinister, but something very big approaches.
Next, reds and blacks. Oh, I see a landscape dark in shadow, with a sky lighted up by gigantic fire that would be visible just over the ridge before us, but all we can do is imagine it. Perhaps it's nowhere near as bad as it seems, but maybe it's worse.
Finally, the last big one. I see two landscapes, one above the other. I see the desert, with somber buttes in the distance. Quiet, but nothing so close, nothing within reach. Below it, I see a road, headed toward mountains. There will be challenges to navigate, but there's no real need to worry, because we're on a safe path. We only need to make the effort.
Okay, for the ones you glossed on-camera. (And yes, the gloss sheen makes them pop!)
The first one. I see a forgotten road in a forest. It's largely overgrown, but there's something wonderful in the distance, and the road, though old and in disrepair, still leads there. We can still follow it without getting lost.
Next, with the oranges and yellows. I see a brain...that is to say, a mind, leaping and brimming with energy and boundless imagination. Is it a wish, or a statement of fact? I choose to see fact. This is reality. This is what can be harnessed or unleashed, if we only decide to do so.
Next, I see brickwork, covered in decades of graffiti, fliers, and posters. Layers and layers of history. It's very urban to me, very much an expression of lived-in places, and social change. It implies nothing of the future, but everything about the past.
The next, which you dubbed as "freaky and weird". I see chaos and destruction, but not in the physical sense. I see eruptions of color and darkness. The pinks and oranges and other lighter shades make me imagine an upheaval of society. Not so much violence, as violent transformation. It's unsettling, because the canvas-wide animation of form and color implies comprehensive change, with nowhere that one can turn to for shelter or comfort.
This comment is ridiculously long, so I'll skip the smaller pieces at the end (not including those you presented earlier in the video).
This is what art is supposed to be: a journey for the viewer. Thank you for sharing it! These pieces made me contemplate where my own thoughts are sitting today. If I looked at them on another day, I'd probably find entirely different things to mention.
What brand or type of gloss were you using, BTW?

Wow!!! That was a long comment and such an interesting and well written read. Thank you so much for taking time out your day to leave such a great comment. I really enjoyed reading through it and hearing your thoughts on all the paintings. They fascinate Me so much, as does the images that have come out of my own mind! I’ve always said I can’t draw from my imagination but it seems if I can find a way to shut my mind off, then there is something inside there after all, quite a bit actually :-) Thanks so much again :-)
