It was my first tier X. It used to be a fun tank.. now i dont like it anymore. Especially when you are in battle with 3 enemy clickers and T110e5's, going full gold -because they are not op enough.

Agreed. The Is-7 has been power crept to nothing. It's only still super popular on the E.U and RU server. in N.A everyone plays E5's, and E-100s and spams gold so the IS-7 is obsolete...

How do you damage, if not by clicking? (The IS7 is the hardest Heavy to hit for Arty, btw)

love my is4 its the only tier 10 ht i still own sold my is7 maus and e100 although the maus may return to my garage because its cool to have one because its so unbelievably rare and its always nice to be the 1st of a tank someone has ever seen i used to often see tier 7 lts and tier 8s drive up to my maus and just look at it because theyd never seen one.
its weird that the is4 isnt more popular honestly i mean its a monster armour wise and has a gun that is really nice plus the grind isnt bad the t150 is fun great side armour the kv3 is the weak one but not horrible still way way better than the amx m4 45 and better than the is2 in my opinion the kv4 is great fully upgraded and the st1 is a total beast you just need to make sure you get the bl9 from the is3 before hand and its fine to grind but if you dont do that its a nightmare.

It is the longest and most frustrating obstacle to overcome before
reaching the 3 AMX 50 variants that are the reason people grind up the
French Heavy line. Also it's the last chance you have to learn good
lessons to prepare you for the fast auto-loaders, and while the M4 does
have the lack of armor that teached being careful and acting as a
support tank, it doesn't really have speed or firepower to convey many
good lessons about how to make the best use of the tanks that come after
it. The M4 tends to teach you to be not just careful (which is good)
but timid (which is bad) or to pick up bad habits born of frustration
[getting pissed and making poor decisions the moment things don't go
well, or being mindlessly aggressive because you feel like it stopping,
thinking, and giving it your best won't actually do much] (which is also
bad.)
I feel a review by you would both help people get though the AMX M4
faster and, more importantly, help them understand what lessons to carry
with you from the M4 to the Fifties, and what lessons you are going to
need to unlearn when moving from the M4 to the Fifties.

Rewatching this in 2023 and the first thing I notice is QB saying it's 303mm of pen on its premium ammo is excellent. Oh how times have changed

IS-7 is a beast. Its low hp pool is compensated with the incredibly tough allround armor. I have bounced every kind of shell imaginable with this tank, and I know that my enemies have been frustrated to bounce and de-track me.. I love IS-7 Its my favorite tank of all time! :-)

Great to see some proper, helpful analysis (including crew skills/ training) in the first 10mins backed up with some live game where those points are reinforced - this is why QB's one of the best.
I treat it like a glorified T95. I don't push for fear of being flanked, since just getting it last night. To overcome the barrier to max speed, I use grousers. Acts like a fast heavium now.
Nest vid you should do an is4 review to compare to the is7:)

Hello Qb, and Qb fans....if you do accidentally select the safe stowage on the bottom loader, you can simply send both loaders back to the garage and redeploy them to the alternate loader position allowing you a second chance to choose awareness on the bottom operator...

i remember being so excited to finally get it ....
and all that excitement was murdered by the utter clusterfuck the tier x matches are, with every match having autoloading skycancer, gold spamming TDs and E 100s, and being half-healthed while just aiming to be able to pen a shot into someone else, I've come so close to selling it so many times , not because it's bad, of course not, by no means is it bad but it's fucking hard to enjoy
yeah i have one and think if my crew didnt have so many skills it would be worthless, it needs help in so many areas

The IS7 needs a pen buff and a ground resistance buff in the current meta.
Everything else is appropriate considering that this thing is a brawler. It just really needs that extra mobility and penetration to be able to fit it's proper niche.
These buffs won't make it overpowered, just good at doing what it's meant to do given the opposition it faces in the current meta.
0:22 - the IS-7 has hatches that are penned by everything taller than it is. So that E-100 or any tank taller than an IS-7 can pen it everytime, if aimed correctly.

I think the IS-7 would be a more interesting vehicle if its alpha damage was buffed to 560 and its gun handling made worse.

Much gold, many balance. I am the only one that feels dirty firing prem unless you're absolutely outclassed? (I.E T26E4 having to brawl with an E75) =/ 250 pen on a tier 10 isn't fantastic, but it's enough. If you were contending a Kolabanovs then I can understand loading gold but unless the situation is absolutely dire, is it really necessary?
That's what I mean by using gold when the situation is dire, if not firing gold will cost me and the team a victory then I'll load gold. I just feel that a lot of unicum level players fire far more gold than is necessary. Make no mistake my WN8 is 2.2k, 1k less than QB so he is clearly a better player than me so my opinion doesn't matter much.
I guess the problem lies more with the game mechanics reliance on RNG and the lack of balance between premium shells (looking at you T54 HEAT spammers) than the players firing the shells. Gold ammo in nearly all cases simply makes the game easier to do well in, and as you say there's no sense in disadvantaging yourself but I just wish that pressing your 2 key wasn't essentially autopen in a lot of cases. I know HEAT throws a hissy fit when it hits sloped armour and HESH gets eaten up by spaced armour but they honestly seem like poor balancing mechanics.

ik i only bring 4-5 premium rounds and i don't fire them unless i get that bad match up like playing T8 i have to load some to pen the heavys

when it comes to the situation of face hugging an is7, just shoot the is7 under the gun when your opponent lifts it up! so easy to penetrate and lots of is7 drivers are really confused how they got penned! greetings joe

I wouldn't say its completely useless, can still be used alongside E3s to hold chokepoints due to the practically impenetrable turret, also it may be used instead of an E3 as the E3 isn't able to relocate easily if the enemy aren't going to that flank. However I do agree that E5s in most situations are better.
Yep, most e5's are now in Clan wars, e100's, t57, some IS4's and IS7's.

A classic mistake people make is shooting the lower plate of the VK 45.02 B. Both the upper and lower plates are 200mm thick, and the angling of the lower plate makes it effectively thicker than the upper plate.
Watching this again and remembering how op the WT auf E-100 was...

don't even try to play this with an unskilled crew.
the gun is godly inaccurate without a skilled crew.
and its not that agile and the ground resistance is awful.
btw they will never buff this tank, coz its an old tank.

The nice thing about the aim time requiring you to "just sit there" is that this is a tank that can very much do that.

Moreover, I have a serious question: I am good player and I see a lot of similarity in your game and mine, also I see similarity how you think and act in game, I mostly play the same way, my thinking also matches. So, how it happens that you have such a good stats on all tanks and mine cannot even come close? there is so much distinction that I cannot explain how is it possible.
T9 tanks that have amongst the heaviest armour in the game. Take a look at the post battle profit and understand it's not been gold for years.

+MrDeepzek For the stats, having 2 more friends playing with you together in a Platoon helps to secure good winrate. Especially if they are as competent as you. I do play the same like QB, I do play the tactics just like him, but I'm playing alone. And whenever it comes down to a platoon vs me, I'm always lose. If you can get friends to play WoT, get them!

IS7 is not like the IS3 nor the IS8.
IS3 is the most armored for its tier, but the IS7 is not the most armored. It is over matched by the MAUS and E100
Its armor is useless when u are not in hull down. A paper tank. U pen it with half aim, so easily when u are moving and if u know how to use angles , as KV-4 for example.

If you have high pen, aim for the front drive wheel when its coming after you. Ammo rack is there.
What i love most about your channel QB, are the clueless people in the comments who blame their incompetence on gold, platoons or other stuff. It just confirms everything you see in random battles.
Kinda weird, but the way you explain it makes it sound like a much better super pershing. That tanks all about applying pressure on your opponents and "encouraging" them to miss their shots

When driving against it, I treat it as a victim -consistent and easy penetration. Especially if they are playing it shy and try to trade with you from mid range. Unless they are in a pack with other is7's, they are really not that strong.When driving the actual tank I apply a "in your face" strategy -try to convince a few heavies in my team to come with me and just go balls crazy from 10m distance. You would be amazed how people panic when they see you coming at them at full speed.
The IS-7 also has a wonderful grind in the tech tree.
i love my IS-7. Best game for damage blocked was over 8,000.

How did IS-7 ended up so late on the channel? With such reputation and pretty much being one of the first tier 10 tanks in the game. Great vid tho, now I understand why I couldn't pen that troll lower glacis even when they were deangled.

Yep just stay at the T10. Going from the T10 to the IS7, is like going from the Hell Cat, to the T25/2.

I keep reading on forums that Vents don't actually provide 5% improvement but more like 2 or 3%. But regardless, I tend to use it in all my tanks because I need all the help I can get.

is7 is a odd exception to the angling rule. it performs better to just face front than angle if the front isnt covered.
I have clutch plus offroad on the driver. It really helps mobility on the driver so much I still do not have repair on that guy.

ACTUALLY! Facehugging an E100 is a bad idea as it can penetrate your turret roof! Caught my eye immediately at the start
IS7 was my first tier 10 tank. It is very good in some situtations but i just think that the armor is kinda bad because the way it is angled. if you dont angle, enemies will easily pen your lowerplate. when you angle, they just pen the unangled part. and the bad dpm just makes it imo frustrating to play if your enemies know what their doing.

I would like to stress that the side armor has internal angling of the 100mm of side armor. However, this is not seen and it makes people think that the 30mm of spaced armor is to be blamed for the troll side armor. While the 30mm of spaced armor does influence it, the 100mm of internal angling is what makes it so trollish.
I just love to play the IS-7 as a "heavy medium". Just push one side with a bunch of meds and the IS-7 will be one of the best tanks in the game. :)
i do it the same. try that combo rammer + engine + heavy liner, rep kit + remove speed + oil and it will be faster than many mediums.
This was one of my first 2 Tier 10 Tanks. :) The other was the Object 140.
gotta love those rams on my own IS-7, found it total fun when some 13 90 tried to ram me :3

One thing is-7 has is a high chance to be ammo racked by high caliber premium shells like the Jageru
i did manage to damage the IS-7 using my VK4502 ausf A. i flanked it (her rear is completely exposed) then exploit the terrain to my advantage then got at least 700+ damage
I've said it so many times.. IS-7 needs a buff on the ground resistance. Considering the buffs some other tier X heavies have got.. That would just balance the game out alot...
QB loved the review, especially the part when you show how to angle correctly and use the terrain (12:40). You definetly should give more tips like that hey :D
