Another episode, hell yeah. Btw, in case you are not aware yet, surface copper/other metal bits can mean underground veins directly underneath. So if you can find those areas you found the bits on, you're going to have a ton of copper
I just came here to post this same comment, when you find surface nuggets it means there is a vein of that metal underneath. Mark them all in your map and go back and mine them. Resources may be thousands of blocks away, so there may be chalk or limestone off in another area somewhere. If you find halite (salt) that is a major discovery -mark it on the map!

if you ever find an "ancient bed" (or whatever they call them) in those cobblestone ruins in the caves make sure to take it. they let you sleep for the longest time of any of the beds i believe.
Yep, 9.5 hours, compared to 8.5 hours for a regular bed and 7 for a straw pallet. I have found that drifters spawn before dawn and after sunset. (How soon before/after depends on rift activity; medium activity means they start spawning after a couple of hours or so of darkness.) The better beds are better to use in winter because you can go to sleep shortly after nightfall and wake up shortly before dawn and miss the drifter spawns in all but the heaviest of rift activity.
I really hope you have been marking all those spots where there was copper bits laying around. That means there are "surface" deposits under it, usually like 5-10 blocks under. If you want an actual bountiful copper harvest then randomly looking in caves will not cut it, you will need to learn how to use the prospecting pick! I wont spoil too much but you got really really lucky with those copper spawns because ore generates very different in this game compared to Minecraft. Interesting watching you learn though :) Edit: Limestone is just a regular stone layer like granite for example so look under the dirt layers in gravel deserts or actual sand deserts, they have a high chance to just have limestone layer underneath wich stretches the whole biom
Wherever you found meteoric iron, there is an impact there. (suevite stone and meteoric iron blocks which drop more meteoric iron) You wont be able to do anything with it until you have iron but it is a great find. Suevite can also sometimes drop diamond when mined which you can sell for a good amount of gears!
I love your editing style, its really natural and laid back compared to a lot of the content that tries to be in your face and "challenging" but youre just enjoying the game like normal, and youre creative and charismatic enough to make it enjoyable to others. keep it up!
If you want to look for other stones, such as lime and chalk or borax, try the prospecting pick! I would also recommend the clientside mod prospectinginfo. All it does is record the data of your prospecting to your map, so you can keep track of it. Also, when you see bits on the ground, dig under them! There are typically veins of whatever the bit is, directly underneath! So mark where you find copper bits for sure, and then return with a shovel and pickaxe! :)

Spawning into an area with no limestone, marble or chalk nearby is always depressing. Good thing you found the trader. For the slow winter months, I bring in a bunch of gravel and sand, and any bony soil I can find. Sifting is also tedious, but you wind up increasing the quantity and variety of resources by doing it -- and it's cold, outside. If you go out hunting, the coats of all the animals have changed colors and they're on you before you can spot them. I also hold off on base improvements until the snow starts to fly. Use the summer months to gather resources; use the winter months to process them into useful things.

I appreciate the editing you have in this video. A lot of VS videos are drawn out and kind of boring because they dont have cuts and humor like you have put in. I really appreciate it!
Just FYI, If you hold the alt key you can unlock your cursor from the camera so you don't have to look at every single pixel when you're smithing/knapping/clayforming. And that bismuthinite you found can be used to make bismuth bronze if you can find some sphalerite to mix it with along with your copper. And definitely get a prospecting pick too because cave diving is super dangerous until you hit the bronze age at least, plus you have no way of knowing how much copper is in an area without one and you might just be jumping down a lethal cave for nothing. You can find shallow surface deposits by looking for copper bits on the ground but those veins aren't very big compared to the ones you can find deep underground. The best way to get ores is really just to prospect until you find a good reading and then dig down while prospecting every 10 or so blocks on the node search mode until it picks up ore nearby. love the series, please keep going!
Oh yeah, and the reason your crops all got eaten way back when was because you had a gap in your fence that rabbits could get through. if you fence it off fully and put a gate in then you should be good to go next spring!
@@TimmyTwoNipples Good luck! You've got great commentary so I hope your channel blows up soon. Oh yeah, you can turn a minimap on by pressing F6 too, I don't know why it's hidden by default. Every time you find any ore on the surface you will find more in the ground right underneath it. So surface copper has at least a small surface vane of copper under the soil layer and maybe a coupe stone blocks down.
Idk if anyone mentioned it or not yet as there's just a massive amount of gameplay to sift through when you're first getting started. But, when you hold an object in your off-hand it increases your hunger (satiation) drain by 20%.

As usual, great episode! Btw, you should start growing plants during spring. Not only vegetables (or fruit trees), but also flax. Flax will be very useful to you because you can make fabric from it (for a mill sail, clothes, bandages, etc.). If you want to prevent animals from eating your plants, you will have to invest in building a fence. Good luck!
19:47 You absolutely CAN make porridge with your grains. They just have to be the base of the meals instead of the meat or veggies. You can then add either fruits or vegetables to them for other nutrients, or more grain to make them extra thick. The game figures what the base of a meal you are cooking is from what's first put in the pot. The easiest way to do this is to use two of something that is exactly the same in the first two slots to set the base. Two of the same meat gets you meat stew, two of the same vegetable gets you veggie stew, and two of the same grain gets you porridge. You can then add two optional things to make the meal more hearty and flavorful and to provide other nutrients. Meat can have up to two veggies or one fruit, or a combo of both. Vegetable stew can have up to two other veggies or two soybeans, or a mix of both. Porridge can have any combination of two fruits, veggies, or grains. If what you put in the pot is a valid meal recipe, it will state what you are cooking in a short description above the cooking pot slots in the campfire. If what you put in the pot is NOT a valid meal recipe, there will be no description of it above the cooking pot slots. You must also make sure that all the ingredients are of the same quantity, so that you get equal servings.

Someone has probably said this already but If you put the grain in the first 2 slots of the cooking pot you can make porrage which you can add meat or vegtables into the last 2 slots
Some tips on farming for after winter: crops will be killed by rabbits, temperature, or if planted near saltwater, so build a fence and dont use saltwater. Also, make sure you are using medium quality soil or better because crops consume soil nutrients. Further down the road, you can make a greenhouse to grow crops when it gets colder.
Another awesome episode, thank you!!! Not surprised you went ham with the chisel,, it's very fun to use lol. And on the topic of food - you _can_ make meals using grain: the recipe is the same as with the meat stew pretty much, only grain replaces the first two (or more) slots in the pot; the same with veggie stew. You can also make soup by filling the first spot with 1L of water per each portion, in case you find yourself short on ingredients. Also, you mentioned linen - that's made from flax, which is gonna be really important down the line. It's probably too late by now to start planting, but just noting that for future reference :)

25:00 I see you have suevite which indicates a meteor. Meteors contain meteoric iron, the second-best metal type. Make sure to mark it!
I found it out by the lime trader, I'll be sure to keep an eye out!
I don't know why I am so enamored of the fact that you know nothing. The copper bits on the surface hide small pockets of ore near the surface
Your series is fantastic, it makes me laugh and want to watch more. Well done! (for the algo!) edit I have yet to find any underground ruins this cool or big. jelly
These videos are so awesome
Thank you for watching! :)
You know you don't have to take all your smithing and crafting tools with you everywhere right? :P
You may want to look into Bismuth alloys.
I keep those tongs on me at all times, in case of.. hot things
Welcome to the Leather Age!
Glad to be hear lol
don't chop down any trees that give you resin. the trees you grow cant' give resin. only wild spawned trees do.
Ooh okay good to know, there's some on the far side of the might from me!
in case you don't know this but the cattails only have a set amount in the world so if you eat the roots that means less in the world period. no way to make more. HOWEVER you CAN harvest the roots and plant then where you want if you got shallow water. this way you get reeds nearby at all times. @@TimmyTwoNipples
Just so you know the very first episode of this series is missing from the playlist.
How lucky are you? I never find any copper just like you did. Also if you found above bits of ore than down it are more ores
where u found that meteor iron: under it there is way more iron ;)
I will be heading back there in the spring, I realized my mistake lol
I pan for copper. it is relaxing and safer than hunting it...
Yeah I should get into panning, life is much easier above ground lol
No Luke. I am your FATHER!
Just why are you not numbering your videos man !!!!!!!??????
Numbers are usually in the first sentence of the video description :)
@@TimmyTwoNipples I figured it out a little to late 🥲.
wait you found meteoric iron thats rare make sure that you marked that area from you got meteoric iron bits because meteoric iron tool are the best but you need iron anvil first

You think this game has a dark side? Wait until you see/meet Dave 💀

@@TimmyTwoNipples you may find out if you get into a nasty temporal storm

I can confirm I'm prospecting, I love it
Bonita casa bro, vives como hobbit
Hobbit life is the best life in my opinion! :)

Early January for the next episode, I have a little review of the game I've been working on coming out this weekend though! :)
@@TimmyTwoNipples Badass, great content! 😁
this series has taught me more than dedicated tutorial videos
might start my own series on my channel JimmyTwoTeats
Ayo there's an idea! Lmao
Hey king. Really love the series and I hope you continue. Always remember the H guidebook is your friend. Make sure to get a prospecting pick to start doing some geology to find ores and MIX THOSE METALS. Keep it up though, I think you got a winner with this one.
Yeah mixing up the ores is definitely one of my next steps!
