thank you 😂 I do think at the core of our design philosophy, it's about creating spaces that feel intentional and meaningful, no matter your budget. Thanks for the compliment though, we appreciate it! p.s. Here are some of our previous videos on Instagram (bit.ly/4gU0Dqr) and Tiktok (bit.ly/3XUvSsM) that talk about ways to enhance your space without spending a dime 😉
I was willing to hear them out after "2 kids living in orange county" but the minute they mentioned "we gutted our apartment in Tribeca" I went straight to comments. Truly rich people sh*t! Beautiful work nonetheless.
I get it! We're self-aware enough to know that we're extremely fortunate, but will say that we definitely didn't start out here. Hoping to share a bit more about ourselves with each subsequent episode, so hope you'll follow along! And thank you for the compliment 😊
You can't make a UA-cam video like this and then not have a stack of videos for me to dig into it. This was giving the very best of Magnolia Network. I need joanna to call you immediately and get you on tv WITH THIS EXACT STYLE OF STORYTELLING. Chefs Kiss!
Thank you for such an amazing compliment! We're just starting to document things and share them through social media, but will definitely be releasing more episodes soon. Come stalk us on UA-cam and Instagram! :)
Wow! You had me at "Hello." I loved your introduction. Your aesthetic framework is beautiful, natural, and tranquil. Excited for what's to come! BRAVO! 🙌🙌🙌
that's beautiful...I once asked my husband if I should change career and pursue interior design or architecture because I've been blessed spending months and months design our sweet home floor plan that I wondered if it wasn't for the precision of them tools, I wouldn't need an architect. Stay blessed and prosperous.
That's so awesome! We're so glad it reminded you of your passion. We're always excited to see that we can inspire others. We wish you the best of luck on your journey
Eagerly awaiting ep 2 Your journey is organic and relatable Everyone needs to ascribe to a life of joy and serenity Kudos to you both and your endeavors
You two are top caliber! Love seeing your journey and mission and your aesthetic is jaw dropping. Not to mention you two have a great dynamic. We can see how much you love each other. ❤
Thank you so much for the kind words! It's definitely a challenge learning how to balance being both business and life partners, but can't imagine life without each other!
How did you guys learn about interior design and what course do you guys suggest for those who would like to pursue a new path becoming an interior designer? THANK YOU. :)
Wow. fantastic video, and even more, fantastic storytelling. I'll be sticking around - super curious about where your personal interest in interiors comes from and how you've been able to get to this point from your previous careers, as well as your design thinking when it comes to the projects you're working on. Keep at it!
Thank you so much! Jerry and I have always loved the creative arts and been involved with it in different ways growing up (he was more into art and design, while I was more into music, creative writing, theater, and fashion). We're planning to delve deeper into our design thinking and who we are as people with each new episode, so excited for you to follow along with us!
Amazing work! Could you please share what professional training of interior design you’ve studied after you decided to change your career? I thought you need to have be a licensed interior designer to be able to have your own design firm?
This is a great question! Jerry and I are big on self-learning, so we did tons of reading, research, and consuming relevant content on platforms like UA-cam. Most of our practical knowledge and expertise, however, stems from trial and error over years of designing and working on our own investment projects. I think this gives us a pretty unique perspective when working with clients since we have firsthand knowledge about the priorities and pain points of homeowners. And of course, we rely on and continue to learn from our network of experienced architects, contractors, and other designers. Fun fact -- California does not require an interior design license to be a professional interior designer (of course, there are other, more general, business licensing requirements).
Thanks for your comment! While many of our projects do have larger financial scopes, at the core of our design philosophy is the idea that people deserve to live in thoughtfully designed spaces. We believe there are many ways, both small and large, and regardless of budget, to enhance well-being through design - we invite you to check out some of our previous videos on Instagram (bit.ly/4gU0Dqr) and Tiktok (bit.ly/3XUvSsM) for examples!
I was trying to hear how you built a team without much capital but I did not hear that. Did you raise capital? How did you find clients? I mean.................the story lacks substance but the imagery is nice.
Thank you so much! Jerry and I are pretty private people by nature so it's definitely been a bit uncomfortable putting ourselves out there, but we think it's worth it to find and hopefully help grow a community of like-minded people!
Thank you so much for sharing your story! The video appeared in my feed just after spending a whole week wandering when I should switch to interior design and leave my high-paid tech job (but not my passion). I would love to see more about your work! Just followed you on IG :)
For me, there are two Cardinal Rules: 1) Every light on a dimmer switch. 2) No pot lights in the ceiling. An architect that uses pot lights is an architect that doesn't know how to control light... and then there is 3)...wishful thinking...No paint inside the house.
To make money, you have to have money. No ordinary couple could pull this off. Sorry. I’m so tired of couples making banks telling the whole world how they leave their half a million a year job to pursue their dreams.
This mindset is exactly why you’ll always be stuck. People go from homeless to millionaires all the time.. sometimes it doesn’t require money as much as it requires confidence and devotion. You don’t know these people’s story. Whether it is bullshit or not, stop living in the box of “ordinary”. If they can do it, you can too.
Leaving 476k jobs is not brave or inspiring, when you have that much money. Inspiring is being a single mother and quitting your stable day job that pays the bills and xmas presents for your kids to follow your dream job as a freelancer. Or a crossing two oceans illegally to get to a country that doesn't want you just to get a job, any job. Check your privilige before coming to the internet promoting lifestyle nonsense in this cost of living crisis era.
Disagree to the nth degree. You have not lived these people’s lives and you do not understand the complexity and risks these two have had to make. Do you know, whether they had hefty student loans? A life time of family and personal pressure to be high achieving? Discrimination at law firms because of their race? Difficulties to get into an ultra competitive and service oriented field? Managing the million details of hiring staff and making sure everyone’s pay checks are on time? Social media only show you the beautiful results but do not show you the struggle, fear, risks, conviction, struggle, failures, hard decisions someone have had to make to succeed in this story.
@@joannabusinessaccount7293 No, I don't and neither do you. So everything you said has negative value because it's all speculation. If that was the truth, then maybe the videos should say something about it, and in that case I would definitely value their journey.
@@miguelrosado6348You are entitled to value or not value the value of this video, and UA-cam should be a place where opinions can be expressed, and tolerated, agreed with or disagreed with. Why not try something you desperately want to do, that's almost too good to be true, that somehow doesn't seem 'fair' - and when you have succeeded, you can post it on UA-cam. And I can forecast that no matter how successful you have overcome the challenges, and no matter how gruesome your challenges have been, there will always be someone who thinks 'you've had it easy,' and your journey may not be of value to them as much as to, someone who has had it worst than you. Say, a child born without legs and hands - you had a life of privilege. But like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinions on what is worth of their time and appreciation, and this is one of the best things about UA-cam.
rich ppl shit but yall make it look really good

because of this video, it reminded my childhood dream career again to pursue what I really love "interior designer/architect" before I reach late 20s💖

Do you work outside of CA? Love your design aesthetic.
so relatable
😂 exactly
''should probably look for someone else''- what a dig to the original designer, hopefully they don't watch this video!
“We need more of this for people…” --rich people, mind you.

Definitely agree that dimmers make all the difference! If not paint, what is your wall finish of choice?
Very cool
