Interesting that all of the comments (so far) are positive comments about the game. I'll add mine. My wife and I enjoy this game as well. It has tile laying, pick up and deliver, worker placement (sort of), hidden goals, and a good game progression. I agree with Zee that the North/South/East/West thing is a bit confusing at first, but there comes a moment, fairly early, when it just "clicks" and you get it. The game play is fairly quick, and yet satisfying. I feel like if this were a 4-player game, it would be getting a lot more hype. It's a keeper.
The designer said it was initially a 4 player game, but the downtime was too much. you can buy two copies and play four player without adjusting the rules though. You just need to paint the other components.
@@joedonbaker You can actually buy the initial copy and a newer version and both supposedly can be played together with a rulebook on their website. I just bought the newer version and I think they have different colored pieces from the older version of the game.
Saw this at a game store, researched it and fell in love with the idea. It is on my wishlist right now and maybe (i hope) will be a present under the tree for me.

one of my favorite two player games, and one of my favorites overall.
Akrotiri is Carcassonne + Tikal + Ticket to Ride, and we love it! Excellent game.

Same! I have another 2 player game by Z-man which is fabulous and hoping this is a good one as well.
Zee, is it good enough to stay in your collection?
what is the sound track in the beginning?
I've seen the name for this game a bunch of times and only just now noticed it's "Akrotiri" and not "Akitori," like I thought. Weird.
I said it wrong in my head that way the first time too and had to reread it to correct myself.
It’s named after an ancient town in the Greek islands, not a Japanese anime character!
LoL.
an excellent game. My SOs favourite...
