Started crying when he saved the animals with the horse trailer. Beautiful.
Not sure where you saw or heard, but he didn't get any of the animals out. They didn't have access to the trailer until the fire was close, and his buddies were unable to get any animals into the trailer before they were kicked out by firefighters.
The follow up video shows he only ended up losing 1 rooster. Animals are clever, and it looks like the fire burned down one side of his property, avoiding his house and the animal area.

It's a shame. California has been dealing with fires for so many years. I remember when I was a little kid hearing about all the fires, and now I'm 47.
That's because they defunded the fire fighters that would do controlled burns to reduce the risk of these kind of fires. Controlled burns were done for centuries before and these problems were never this severe because of it.
Its a business for the state now.
Some states allow/force inmates to work as fire fighters (probably not front line but still). They get paid like $1 an hour. That's pretty nuts. Also the US firefighting service has a terrible history of putting themselves in risky situations. The death ratio in the USA is far higher than other countries, and its not like the training or equipment or spirit is lacking. Obviously a number of factors but leadership not taking enough caution has to be part of it. Way too many deaths. Property can be replaced, humans cannot.

@@electronicsNmore this can happen. Fires have been started even by fire fighters so they could be 'heros' other times to get hours as often only paid where there is work. This is of course by far for rare. Often fires are started by campers, smokers or other human activities negligently but not intentionally. as I recall last year some.of the major cali fires were caused by the electrical transmission lines and the resulting liability claims for losses have bankrupted the utility. There isn't enough liability insurance available for such an event. Still end of the day most fire is 'natural'. Extreme weather events are definitely getting more frequent and worse.

My brother had to evacuate as well. He ended up at my mom's house where they cut the power. My moms house isn't even in danger. Cal Fire told PG&E to cut it.

The decision makers of this state need to be run out. Its soo bad. I remember when I was a kid they would do controlled burns and have cleaning crews 9 months out of the year.

It truly is such a helpless feeling.
Experienced being evacuated one summer living in Idyllwild, CA back in 1996.
Smoke was so bad it was raining ash.
We had to spend a few days living out of motel 6 in Palm Springs for a few days not knowing if we would have a place to go back to.
The fire burned right up to the edge of the town.
Thankfully, the fire fighters did a great job saving the town and stopped the fire.
Glad the damage was minimal and most of the animals survived.

they may not run from the sound, or the 'sight'. But soon as it starts getting hot, their going to move away from that heat. Its actually the reason why alot of animals end up dying in brush/wild-fires. They 'dont' run early.. and when they do, it sometimes is to late as the fire can potentially 'surround' the patch their on and when they 'do' finally start moving away from the heat, they simply run into more heat :T

Gives me mad anxiety watching this. Was a couple miles from the start of the cedar fires in 2003. Was a long night trying to escape the canyon. I hope everything turns out okay for you.
What happened?
Up until a couple years ago it was California’s largest fire in history. A stupid hunter got lost/separated from his hunting partner. Rather than using his rifle to signal his partner, he started a signal fire. Up in the hills of San Diego county estates. Fire burned down towards homes and the canyon. and then around the canyon and started burning up it. Everyone was getting trapped in the canyon because there was no where to go. 17 people ended up dying through the fire. I think around 13 the first night in the canyon. I hope this fire leaves a lot less devastation.

So I originally found this video on Facebook. I live just up the street from you. I grew up out there and you made the right call for the situation you were in. I wasn't home when it went through and had to have someone let my chickens and ducks out and we just prayed (we only lost a few due to smoke, the fire got all the way to our front yard. I'm so happy your ranch is safe!

I’m so sorry about this Ryan, I understand what it’s like I live up here in Northern California and the big lightning complex fire burnt right up to my town, and I was ready to fight it again and save my house like I did back in 2016 with the valley fire, one of the smartest things to have on a ranch property like mine is a big rig water truck that will save ur house

Lost everything in a house fire about 8 years ago and seeing this breaks my heart. A fire is not something you can truly understand until you go thru is and it's also something you'll never fully get over. For the rest of my life I'll be paranoid and one whiff of someone burning leaves is enough to send my blood pressure thru the roof. God bless this man, my heart is with him.
