Rather than velcro, you can just put a ring on a finger, and thread tied to it, put the thread through the basket weave and tie like a stick to it. It'll keep it attached to the basket wherever you need it. And won't put a permanent thing to the hand so you can use it for other crafts in the future ~~
Pro tip from an amputee on how to attach a fake arm to one's torso: look up how prosthetic arms were attached to a torso historically . They used belts as well, but they used more than one belt/ strap and used the existing shoulder to properly secure the prosthesis in place.
Thank you. This is the comment I came here to boost. The harness can be made with nylon strapping and quick-release plastic clips. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
It might also help to carve a "U" out the silicon on the inside of the upper arm to get it to lie more naturally against her real arm: maybe even carve out enough to strap it to her "meat" arm. I know it has that internal "bone" so there's only so much carving to be done, but it's still better than trying to stuff two entire arms into one sleeve
An option for the future (either future puppets//an alteration to Gigi) is make your hand stop in the torso and have the head be a separate piece with a dowel that extends down into the torso//to your hand. Then you can just rotate the dowel for a better head turn and it means you can size down since the head doesn't need to accommodate your hand! I have a dragon puppet with a similar mechanism to that and the head can fully turn left to right and it's so much fun that way!!! Plus less strain on your wrist as well
I am firmly but tenderly grasping your hand as I look earnestly into your eyes. Thank you for articulating my exact thoughts, we are on the same wavelength
Absolutely! Professional puppeteers also have some mechanisms on the dowel to make the puppet blink and open it's mouth. Can't wait to see Rachel making a Grogu puppet and mandalorian costume :D
Yes, very much this 😂 to be fair, there is no Gigi pattern like this to buy. But I was silicone-hand-gesturing at the screen 'why not pattern it from a T-Shirt that already fits you??'. On the other (third) hand: We do not question our queen.
I was nearly 18 when that film came out. I'm now 47 and I STILL wouldn't play it!! XD I mean....the whole lesson of the films is DON'T EVER PLAY THIS GAME!!! XD
Awesome idea, but depending on how soft or sturdy the silicone is the wire might leave indents or damage. Perhaps attaching the wire to something like a ring or a bracelet would help prevent any damage so the arm can be used again in future cursed projects 😁
For eyes, consider: cheap sunglasses! I made a plague doctor mask one year and I used kids sunglasses for the eye covers. Worked really well, and I can still see haha.

So cute. Ithink you should create a Velcro bracelet to attach the hand to the basket. It would make it simpler to take on and off as you need to and you wouldn't need to glue it.
I can’t express the pure happiness this notification gave me, Kiki’s Delivery Service is one of my favorite studio ghibli films! I have been feeling the big sad because of everything going on in the world right now, your videos are such a light to me. ❤

little tip for the resin. When working with anything that's a porous material, it needs to be sealed with a thin layer of resin before putting on the rest of the majority of it. That thin layer will keep air bubbles from popping up out of the material. You can also use a heat gun/lighter/ light spritz of rubbing alcohol (just one of these!) to get rid of the bubbles before curing with the uv light.
As a suggestion for how to keep the arm attached to your shoulder: a sports shoulder support! It should have enough surface area to attach the arm to, and be nice and secure under the dress! Also I wanna say that you got the position of the hole in the basket JUST right; even with the arm sliding down it still looked like the basket was being held up!
I wish my Jji (my first cat) was still around so we could watch this together! We did a few Kiki looks together in our era. A little bittersweet hearing his name so much (he passed away at 19 last year) but it makes me happy to remember him, too
So Cutteeeeeee!!!! An idea for a less permanent way of getting the arm to hold the basket - what if you made little rings of fishing wire or something basically invisible and threaded them around the fake fingers and in the basket? That way, you could still remove the fake arm and use it on another costume?
Loved the Jumanji drums and the trying not to be interested in the bread lamps! 😂Also, I'll add my vote for trying to tie the hand to the basket with either clear materials or something disguised as a ring or two.
You know those lamps are actual bread right? Someone broke theirs open after it got infested with ants and they realized it was just food in a resin shell
❤ great and cute… I would switch the bread though. Baguettes to the ‘outside’ and bunn & croissant in front of your chest. ‘Balance’ it out. Good luck at the convention. 🎉 love from the Netherlands

For the arm, I would recommend looking up shoulder armour/pauldrons because the leather pauldron I have, the strapping system for that I think is exactly what that arm needs to stay in place. Or at least make it more stable. Overall: It looks so cuuuuuuute!
You could always tie a string of flesh colored material to one of the fake fingers, and tie it to the basket!! So no glue and no damage to the silicone hand
Fully support makeup as a craft supply!! 👍 Lots of my old/outgrown palettes get kicked down to the art bins - they blend well, the color stories are put together already (i.e. less fretting about finding the right tones and shades,) and it feels good to give them a new life. Highly recommend!
I'm not a resin expert (I've never used the stuff) but I have watched my fair share of resin-related videos on UA-cam so I do have some knowledge. My queen creates a pattern for a cat that is newly created by herself but buys a random tshirt pattern (to add flares too) this is queen math.
Yes, very much this 😂 to be fair, there is no Gigi pattern like this to buy. But I was silicone-hand-gesturing at the screen 'why not pattern it from a T-Shirt that already fits you??'. On the other (third) hand: We do not question our queen.
The Jumanji part made me laugh. When I was a kid, my dad brought home the Jumanji board game, and I REFUSED to ever play it. I was scared of it lol.
Why does *every* thrift store somehow have this cursed board game?
It's a great game! It's cooperative.

In the jungle you must wait, until the dice read five or eight...
Rightfully so
Maybe a teeny tiny amount of fishing wire looped around the fingers and through the basket can help hold the hand where it needs to be?
yes, or fishing wire loop passing through a ring to wear on that fake hand.
Yeah! I agree with fishing line since it's transparent
Awesome idea, but depending on how soft or sturdy the silicone is the wire might leave indents or damage. Perhaps attaching the wire to something like a ring or a bracelet would help prevent any damage so the arm can be used again in future cursed projects 😁
I love your chaotic "I can do this!" attitude! It's given me the courage to try new/hard things with my sewing.

My hubby says to put a ring on your silicon hand and then attach the ring to the basket. 😝 We love this cosplay so very much. ❤❤❤
you should take a piece of fishing line or clear elastic through the basket where the had attaches and tie it around one of the fingers :)
or perhaps to a ring
The fishing line has the possibility of cutting through the silicone (I don't know if it was built on an armature). Two points of contact would probably work better - one at the ring finger, one at the wrist. Rachael could cover the velcro with jewelry or a wreath of flowers.
