The limber cob stays pointing up which looks like it would be a funnel for water staying in the shuck!

My first year growing a meal corn. Growing some called limber cob. After I planted I learned that the ears stay pointed up a lot longer than most. Do you think could pick a lot earlier and dry on racks. Thanks in advance!

If you pick too early the kernels will shrivel up. You have to let it get hard, but you can get by harvesting a few days earlier, but I have harvest some too early. The best tasting corn for corn meal has been Nalo Orange Flint corn I bought from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. The lowest rating for us has been the bloody butcher. Ohio blue and Hickory King were good. Once the shucks are mostly dried, you can go ahead and harvest and continue drying. I am guessing about 3 to 4weeks after you would harvest for roasting ears.
