I solved that issue by not having any band members. “Backing track, you’re outta here!”

I have some great memories playing bass with you guys! The gig with the beach balls is still one of my all time favorites.

I've always said, and will always say, that I learned so much about playing music by being in a band with you. My rhythm playing changed and improved so much, I worked hard on getting the structure and chords right before worrying about solos. You always said "it's about the songs" as for the beach balls it was a crazy gig, I remember getting on to the face during the solo to Anyway you want it by Journey. Thanks for watching buddy.

I hate it when you have to let somebody go, because they might not be the best player but are crazy nice, and replace them with an a$$.

We fired a drummer who drank way too much and took pain killers. He drank about a 12 pack at every practice. The last straw was when he butchered a song in front of a crowd, and looked at us like we're the ones who messed up. We parted ways after that. He died a few years later, from alcohol related health issues that he never took care of. I've always felt bad about it. I liked him, he was a good dude, a real friend. But he was a trainwreck and we couldn't help him because he didn't want to help himself. RIP buddy.

I'm very sorry to hear of your friends passing, at the moment I guess everyone was doing what they felt was right, we have no way of predicting outcomes for other people's lives, especially when they don't seem like they want to help themselves. Once again I am very sorry for your friend.

I was guitarist in a band & decided we needed to fire the very popular bass player for always being out of time. Everybody agreed & said they’d think about it, they’d talk it over & call me when they booked their next gig. They never called.

I was in a band but our lead singer got in trouble and locked up for 3 years. When he came out one guy was in a different band and the rest of us had gotten regular jobs, but somehow we all managed to get together one last time to raise money for the local orphanage that was facing a steep tax collections bill. Actually hold up, I'm thinking of the Blues Brothers movie.

In my experience, bands tend to split up into their factions more often than individuals get sacked. Having said that, our bass player right now is probably for the chop. It's been discussed in his absence (which is frequent) as we've had to miss too many gigs because he's not been available. My favourite band break up was the band I was in where the bass player was the self-appointed leader (another bass player, go figure). If he didn't get his own way he did a big, histrionic "I'm giving up music forever, don't try and stop me" number. He did it twice, but on the third occasion I called his bluff and took the drummer off with me to form a new band. Bye bye.

We've had similar experiences with the bassist. Usually when you get a couple of people with the exact same mindset they stuck together
