  • This is my entry into the Modern Maker Podcast Rockler Plywood Challenge. In this video I build a patterned storage chest using the end grain from one sheet of euro-birch plywood. This project was a blast, and I'm excited to try other patterns in the future. Thanks to the Modern Maker Podcast for putting on this challenge, and thank you for watching. Love the antique take on a modern wood. The herringbone pattern was used to much in france on hardwood flooring in the 18th and 19th century, that this jewelry box almost feels like an hommage to it.

That patern is so beutiful and if you didn't know it started as ply wood, I think it would be a surprise to find out. I know when I saw the thumb nail I thought it would be a really small intricately made box!! Love it!!

The level of skill, the amount of time and work that went into this project, is just amazing.
