Rocking the Dbl Bergamot. Thank you for the wonderful series of frame, box, spline and plywood pattern videos. 🙏
I found your channel because of your pattern plywood. I just love these projects.
Thanks Tricia!
Watching this with the sound off while listening to Slip by MEUTE is on another level.
I really like the patterned ply stuff on this channel. It inspired me to incorporate it into a dresser I made. I used 3/4" ply to make the pattern. Then, I inlaid the design into another sheet that I cut to make the faces for 4 drawer fronts. I also poured a concrete top for it and restored an old silver back mirror to go with it. My wife thinks it's the most unique dresser she has ever seen.
That’s awesome!!! So glad you’ve enjoyed it.
Splines just make everything look next level good
Found your channel because of this and the bent lamination videos, but your furniture have been most influential. I've always been pretty good at designing and have always adored architecture and design, but never really wanted to go in that direction, because it just didn't seem like there was anything to do for me, despite family and friends urging me to do so. Then I found your channel and watched your furniture videos and you've had such an impact that I have decided to become a furniture designer and have already begun designing, building and filming the creation process (the latter is of my sisters request). I've also finally gotten a table saw and am in the process of building a crosscut sled, so I'm looking highly forward to trying this out myself! Thank you so much Michael!
That's awesome!! Thank you!!
Really like this box, and especially the way you demonstrate-TEACH, thank you. Hope you will continue to teach us all!
Again, thank you.
These decorative boxes are so beautiful. Great job! 👍
Thanks Chris!!
I love when you start a video with some examples from other things you made. It reminds me of being in art school.
Amazing as always. Thank you
Thank you once again for making me feel inadequate! Awesome work!!!
Nice job, you are a man with many talents. You make it look easy
That was a real pleasure to watch and the result is beautiful! Bravo! One of my favourite box designs.
Lovely box with an awesome pattern :D
Thanks Cris!! 😁
Wow, that box turned out beautiful! Another thing that I noticed is how good the production of your video is. The editing and sound is top notch. Makes it easy to sit and binge watch your videos. Good job!
turned out absolutely beautiful, love the plywood/ash/mahogany-combo! 💪
Thank you!!
I love your style and vision
I love it! The pattern plywood looks gorgeous and the box-making process is always satisfying to watch and to work on.
Great work, as usual!
Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks Luli!! Nice hanging out in the chat 😁
Fantastic work, Michael! 😃
Really beautiful little box!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks, you too!
Amazing work, really cool place to store Oregano 😉😉 you should do a cedar lined cigar humidor.
Excellent job. Thanks for sharing big heart. I will definitely make some as gifts for my family and friends.
Thanks Lu!!
Gorgeous!
Thanks!!
This is neat!
This box looks absolutely amazing! I don’t have any scraps of birch plywood, will see where to get some ))) this will be a great gift idea! Thanks mate!
You are not from this world... this is amazing!
Здорово!! Красивый узор получился!!!👍!
Such a cool little box! I love the patterned plywood. Nice job explaining what and how you do what you do, as usual. Can't wait for your next one!
Thanks so much!
Love the design and craftsmanship!
Last year, after being inspired by your previous videos, I made a patterned plywood topped jewelry box very similar to this box. Its certainly not perfect but I'm super proud of it. Thanks for the videos!
Just found your channel. Definitely going to make some of these boxes. Have subscribed and now off to watch your patterned plywood designs and then the spline jig videos. Thank you for sharing your talent.
beautiful
Michael, your work is awesome and your videos are so relaxing to watch. Can't wait for your next upload!
Awesome!!!
Turned out great!
Thanks Jennifer!
Beautiful box. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Nate!
Very creative, gorgeous, thank you for sharing your ideas!
Stunning result, great video, thanks
Beautiful Michael
So, whats your favorite favor of Talenti? Amazing gelato in awesome storage containers.
Dang, another fantastic pattern plywood project. I have to say this is probably one of my favorite patterns you've done. ;)
Thanks Miles!!
Killer work on this one, Michael!
Thanks Eric!!
Excellent
This is awesome! I’m definitely giving it a go!
Muito bom...ficou incrível! Meus Parabéns!
Wow!
I thought that _has_ to be tea at the end there, and was surprised that we even have it here in New Zealand! I only discovered your channel when looking for ideas for my router table build, and it has quickly become one of my favourites. Plus it is nice that you are less accident prone than Stumpy Nubs, and - dare I say it - Jonathan Katz-Moses (I love them both btw). So much of what we see on the UA-cam woodworking channels seems to be repeated channel by channel, but a lot of your ideas seem to be unique to you, and they are great ideas.
Thanks Trevor! I'm a fan of those guys too! Fingers crossed on the accident prone thing. Stumpy's accident still sends shivers down my spine.
So glad you like the projects! I try my best to do my own thing.
That’s epic MA
Thanks!
Очень интересно, классно. Мастер своего дела. 👍👍👍
Много интересного взял себе на заметку.
Like M T said below, I love your quick examples. The simplicity of breaking it down is smooth and swells an eagerness to progress my skill.
P.S. Im extremely jealous of your workshop lol
Also, great camera and editing skills. Extremely enjoyable
I think it's too late to enter this year, but I'd love to see a pattern plywood guitar in the next Great Guitar Build-Off!
That is definitely on my list!! My buddy Miles built one and it's incredible!! ua-cam.com/video/KYCral9TNLQ/v-deo.html
Always love your videos. You seem like a really cool dude. Great taste in style and music!
I like it.
can you make/link to a video on that chisel box!!! please!! i need a safe place to store my chisels and have wanted build a box for it for some time and i really like that design! beautiful patterned box btw keep it up hope you're enjoying your new shop/office add on and extra storage!
Hey Fabian, It's funny you mention that chisel box. I'm working on a set of plans for it right now. I made it pre youtube, but I'll be making another updated one for the plans.
speechless, w o w, love this little box, cheers ess
Thank you! Cheers!
Great channel with excellent production and innovative project. Thanks. I love using Odie's Oil as well :)
Great job as always, Michael! Just like building them, I never get tired of watching others make boxes either :)
Thanks Daniel! Same!!
Hi. How does patterned plywood handle a thickness planer? Curious if it is possible to run it through one without a lot of tear out. Thanks a bunch!
I love your work, you are one of my greatest references 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks David!! 🙌
Tell me about the large sanding board? Is it just sandpaper adhered somehow to a piece of plywood?
Parabéns ficou show 👊👊🇧🇷💯
This is really cool wish I had the brains for it
Nice!
What type of rail system are you using on your band saw?
I'm looking to fence on mine, but it's not set up for one, and trying to find a set that will work on it.
Hahaha! I made a patterned plywood lidded box this week too! Great minds and all that..
Hahaha! That's awesome!
Great video! Could you recommend which band saw blade you use?
Coolio!
beautiful box.. there is no room for mistake. one mistake and you have to redo it again.. 🤗🤗🤗
Great video as always! Thanks, Michael! #patternedplywood
Hey man! Love your videos and precise and beautiful work. As a music producer working from home I would to see your take on building professional custom acoustic panels. I’ve built some on my own, but would love to see how you would approach it. :)
I loved it watching this
Thank you!! 🙌
Hi there! Nice video, love your work and explanation :) what type of glue do you use?? I couldn't find it it the description, thanks!
Крутой мужик)
Great looking box. I just discovered Stash tea myself. Good stuff. ATB : )
Thanks! It's my fave!
I love this channel, and I have now made some similar boxes with the patterned plywood and cedar for the sides. I know it's totally subjective, but what kind of price range might I sell these for? ( to anyone, including Michael, who perhaps has experience in the craft/ art sales world)
👍 freu mich drauf!
That box is a work of art.
Sadly though, nowhere in my country sells plywood like that with all those layers.
Even the imported plywood has at the most, maybe 6 layers at 3/4 thickness. I guess it's a matter of economics. The hardware stores will only sell what people are willing to pay for.
So I will have to make do with our local, beautiful tropical woods instead. 🙂
Greetings from Guyana, South America 🇬🇾
Thanks Beverly! A beautiful tropical wood version sounds pretty awesome!
Nice 👍🏻😊
Your work is beautiful! I love all of your painting too. I’m wondering if you have a video or plans for the miter sled you used in your video. Thanks, A fellow PNW dweller.
Thanks Sarah!! At some point I'll do a sled video. I can probably cover all three of my main sleds in one. Thanks for the suggestion!
Do you have videos showing how you made those other boxes (chisel storage, razor box)? If not, I'd love to see a video just showing the details of each.
Hey Adam, Sadly those were made before I started the channel, but I'm sure I'll build something similar in the future. I have ideas on how to upgrade the chisel box
@@MichaelAlm thanks for the reply! I'd still enjoy a show-and-tell of some of your older projects. They look really interesting!
You have gold hands...
Hi Michael, I discovered patterned plywood from your channel few months back and I find it fascinating. I tried last week, but my saw kinda bog down with the 45o cut on Baltic birch. I have a basic jobsite 15A saw. Cutting straight is also a challenge given I can't feed the wood smoothly. Any tip on making this cut? I will get a 7.25" blade and try again.
Hey, There are a few things you can do to get a better result from that kind of saw. One is to like you said, get a new blade. The second is to look for " thin kerf blades" The thinner blades take out less material and therefore take less horsepower to push through the cut. The third thing is to look for "plywood/melamine blades" which have a higher tooth count and are designed for cutting plys. The last thing is to spray a lubricant on the blade. They make ones that are designed to keep the pitch from building up on the teeth of the blade, and that keeps them sharp for longer. I hope that helps!!
did you use 3/4 ply or 1/2 inch? thanks
🤘
Очень здорово👌
Love the project as always. Is there a video I missed of the box with the sliding top and front??
Thank you! There is a video on that. It's very old, so my video skills are a bit less polished 😂 ua-cam.com/video/2Y8_AH_i0Tg/v-deo.html
Great box
"I always work safe" - reaches over spinning saw again :)
13:38. I thought to myself, "wow, this guy doesn't care about keeping his private life too private." I slowed down the video to .25x and then there it was, earl gray. 😝
Fantastic looking box my good sir.
Hahaha! Thanks!!
Out of curiosity, seeing you used your drum sander for the interior mahogany, why wouldn't you have used your drum sander to level out the tops of the lids instead of the palm sander? Is there a specific reason why you would or wouldn't use it in this case?
I was lazy and didn't have the drum sander set up 😂
DANG that's cool. Forgot the KM tax in the thumbnail though ;-)
Hahaha Gotta put double the KM on the next one 😜
Since You're a plywood specialist, would it be possible to make a harringbone round tabletop? I'me scared to use a router to round up the tabletop. It might ruïne the edges.
I've seen people do herringbone, and round the corners. It is a bit of a gamble to use a router on patterned ply, but if it's a good sharp bit, it works most of the time. Maybe glue up a small test panel first, and see how it goes.
@@MichaelAlm Thanks. I Will give it a trie a testpiece
Hey I've got the bug to try out the pattern plywood method. Do you have a recommendation or preferred type of plywood?
Right on! I like baltic birch plywood
Make a Sketchbook with a hidden compartment to hide the pencils and eraser
What are the dimensions of this box??
Супер,🔥
That’s a really cool sponsor! Love the box too, your patterned plywood is always so great looking ♥️
Thanks Danny! Yeah I had no idea you could ship plants in the mail 🤷🏼♂️ they’re a really interesting company. I love the indoor plants they have too! 🪴
Ridiculously under subscribed. Nice name, by the way.
Thanks Mike! The channel keeps growing 🤷🏼♂️
How did you get the pieces not to stick to the jig?
I added packing tape and paste wax
If the inserts had been mitered and chamfered it would have improved the box I think. Quibbling I know.
I agree. I was worried they were getting too thin to not explode in the saw, but that would've taken it up a notch.
👍👌✨😁
