That peanut sauce looks insane. I'd eat that with a spoon.
This Kakak is everything! She seems to cook from the heart. I wish I could taste her cooking one day!
Not everything has to be an argument guys. She literally said satay is from all around SEA. Even better she said it country has different styles. The title is also literally Singapore Satay
I like how you're commenting this in advance even though no one's come to claim satay in the comments yet
Satay is so thoroughly pan-SE Asian. Like many great things, its origin is lost in the mists of time.
@@dlegend4681 clearly you didn't understand what she said about the size 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I nearly died when she chopped into the galangal right to her fingertips. The woman has very contagious energy. Love her and can imagine how amazing the dish would come out.
Lovely pic luru
Are you in vietnam or somewhere else?
@@charliechan8541 Stop simping.
If it makes you feel any better, she is doing it with the dull side of the knife, no need to fear lol
My first girlfriend had a Dutch father & Indonesian mother. They always had the best food on the Indonesian side of the family. A good peanut sauce can be eaten with everything.
Patatje oorlog.
Yup singaporeans also eats it with bee hoon noodles.
Her personality is so infectious. Her chicken skewers and the signature peanut sauce is different from the traditional recipe. Her satay sauce has some bold flavors and different textures as it plays well with chicken, beef or any protein skewers you may desire. If you want to level up the satay sauce, you can roast your peanuts. Cool them for 10 mins, then coarsely ground them in a food processor to chop your peanuts. I add less of the sambal as it becomes less spicy which I liked. But her recipe is one of the best in the SF Bay Area for authentic Singaporean and Malaysian skewers and satay sauce is on point.
Have you actually had it lol
Yes, I have and they were amazing! I had as a sandwich with french fries at the Presidio Tops. It was delicious!
She has such an entertaining and infectious personality!
As Indonesian Singapore sate is really different just like she said, really open my perspective tbh
you get it
Thanks to Ely for sharing this. Thanks also to Callum, awesome chef @Kings College London for passing this link to a very inquisitive kitchen porter.
I want to try this ASAP!
your presentation is smooth.....love the speedy, fuss-free style. So easy to follow. You make it look so doeable Elly! Love your accent!
Wooo Kakak!! Nampak mcm sedap!! Thank you for bringing up the nuances of satay according to nusantara countries. Very accurate explanation :)
This was awesome! You need to have her in again
Looks delicious , that must be served in heaven.
Tamarind in Aluminum pan, Wow ! Great Combo.
this truly looks the bomb, better than conventional styles in singapore , indo even. all the best elly
Looks DELISH ! I want some. Great recipe. Great chef. Thanks 🇨🇦
Thank you for showing this satay and peanut sauce
Dogo?
I put oil in my marinade because it will help it retain moisture and when you grill it, it will crisp up a bit. Low and slow fire is the key!
Solidlah Kakak! Bringing our rojak rempah culture to the States! May your hands be blessed always💪🏽
Amazing 🤩
Looks amazing. Didn't realize how much work goes into real peanut sauce.
Aww those are good. 🤗
🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍 Kak Elly!!! Can't wait to meet you in person!!!
Bay Area represent! As an Indonesian it makes me very happy to see her making sate ❤️ 🔥 Def gonna check out her truck!
Suriname 🇸🇷 has satay too

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That looks great. What is the flavor difference between your secret recipe and this one?
I was in The Bay last weekend 😭😭
I miss satay 😢 and Malaysia and Singapore 😢
In Indonesia we grill the satay over charcoal and you'll get a delicious smoky flavour and a sexy burnt colour. 🤤
it’s the same most places with satay
Not just you LOL
@Hafiz Zifah I didn't say only in Indonesia lol 😂
Satay,love it,need heart in it and would definitely give me a taste blow, loving it!
As an Indonesian, I will sit here and maybe start enjoying the incoming war
no, we should pray and hope that the jamets don't see this video
sate singapur sama sate indonesia beda jauh kok.
ini bukan mempermasalahkan sate asalnya darimana juga sih.
cuma different style of satay aja. no need to make a war
Can I join you as a Malaysian?
I quit my job of 2 years so i can smoke weed on my UA-cam channel full time lmao 😳
Singaporean satay is basically satay kajang. As far as i know there’s no such thing as satay singapore
how long would the peanut sauce last in the fridge?
1-2 weeks i'd reckon, maybe more because of the sugar content
Its can be more
But if you want to eat with it, heat back and add some water
And do it again and again
If not maybe it will last 1@2 week only
Just had it for dinner, Indonesian style though which is similar but with less high quality ingredients 🤣
1,5 US $ boom chicken satay + rice
Wait theres such things as lemongrass powder and galangal powder? Never seen those at a market
Моя улюблена їжа в Азії , Боже як це було смачно❤
What sort of sambal do you use??
Dry chilies.. Boil it first and than blender with some water
Yummm🥰 i miss the singaporean 🇸🇬 Hawker center the food is amazing 🤩 live from Paris
I’m in Culinary so it’s funny I just made a peanut sauce and satay ., wow
Yum! Mana ketupat?
DANK BABY💖
where does one get lemongrass powder from?
I think from a lemongrass plant
@@FonicsSuck you sure?
@@FonicsSuck a
Yup
. right
Okay, that satay is really big. I never thought doing that is possible and I would do it from now on.
I can eat 100 of these no problem
My Tamil Malaysian aunt used to make these on the BBQ, omg you CANNOT stop eating them. 100 is an entree lol.
that sauce looks unreal
I know roght, sate come from every southeast asian👍🏽
Terbaik sis👍🏽
lol foreal she was making me nervous with the knife as well haha
“It’s actually 3 times bigger.”
That’s what she said
the receipe omits coriander+fennel+cumin from the marinade which she adds in the video. Please fix the recipe link
Where is the cucumber/onion served with satay in Singapore?? We were there in 1995.
I like how she said other countries don’t really marinate their chicken 😂.
Is the molasses same as kecap manis?
No
Does it have to be halal chicken ? Or can also be regular and kosher chicken ?
Halal chicken is just regular chicken 😐 it’s just slaughtered the Islamic way
Halal just for muslim but if you non muslim you can used anything, at mycountry, sime chinese make pork satay
Just be creative
For Thai's version- satay is lightly marinated with coconut milk and mixed spices. thai peanut sauce is flavour full of thai herbs. Thai satay normally serve with lightly pickled cucumber + shallot +chillies. It an art not a food truck! By the way putting too many dried herbs directly on meats it will get burnt before the meat is cooked!! 😉
Ah yes, Sa"tay" 😂😂😂
Bangga dengan kejayaan orang Melayu👍🏼
Bangga utk semua kaum org akn respek kau sikit. Ni nk bangga utk satu kaum jer tak baik camtu.
Wasn’t sure how legit this was until she used her hands. 👌
I see satay I click fast
I thought the iconic Kajang Satay already big enough the portion.
The recipe link does not list some of the spices she used in the vid, or the measurements for those spices. Specifically curry powder, cumin Fennel, & coriander. Please add to recipe that's linked in the description
Is there any satay from Singapore????
Yeap. Why did you think there isnt?
lol only the best. ya POS
Looks amazing! That peanut sauce looks so unique to others.
Question though: Why do women always insist on sticking their rings right into a mixing bowl like that. So gross.
Just put on a glove man or take your jewelry off.
**Singaporean Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce Recipe by Elly of Satay By The Bay SF**
**Ingredients:**
* Halal chicken thighs (for their fat content)
* Onion powder
* Garlic powder
* Ginger
* Turmeric
* Lemongrass powder
* Galangal powder
* Coriander
* Fennel
* Cumin
* White sugar
* Molasses
* Salt
* Water
**For the Peanut Sauce:**
* Purple onions (or shallots for a sweeter taste)
* Garlic
* Palm sugar
* Tamarind blocks
* Lemongrass
* Galangal
* Canola oil
* Sambal (chili)
* Roasted peanuts (coarsely ground, not whole)
* White sugar
* Salt
* Water
**Instructions:**
1. **Chicken Satay Preparation:**
a. Cut the chicken thighs into strips (not cubes).
b. Mix together onion powder, garlic powder, ginger, turmeric, lemongrass powder, galangal powder, coriander, fennel, cumin, white sugar, molasses, salt, and a bit of water to make the marinade.
c. Marinate the chicken strips in the mixture and refrigerate for 24 hours.
d. Skewer the chicken. Weave the meat in and out of the skewer to give it a wave pattern.
2. **Peanut Sauce Preparation:**
a. Blend purple onions and garlic.
b. Prepare the tamarind: Cut the blocks, soak in water, and mash.
c. Slice lemongrass and beat it well.
d. Peel and beat the galangal.
e. Heat canola oil in a pan and fry the lemongrass until aromatic.
f. Add blended onions and garlic to the pan and cook until crispy.
g. Add sambal and cook until oil separates.
h. Add galangal, soaked tamarind, and some pulp.
i. Add palm sugar, roasted peanuts, white sugar, and a bit of salt.
j. Add water sparingly to get the desired consistency, remembering that peanuts will expand and thicken the sauce.
k. Simmer the sauce on low or medium heat for about 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3. **Grilling the Satay:**
a. Oil a grill and heat it.
b. Place the skewered chicken on the grill and brush with oil.
c. Grill the skewers for 6 to 8 minutes. The exact time will depend on the cut of the meat and how it's skewered.
4. Serve the grilled satay with the peanut sauce.
**Tips:**
* Cutting chicken into strips instead of cubes helps retain flavor and ensures quicker, moister cooking.
* The oil on the skewers helps to crisp the satay and prevent it from drying out.
* The onions and garlic for the peanut sauce need to be cooked until they're crispy for the best flavor.
* Don't leave skewers unattended on the grill to avoid burning.
Note: This is a generic recipe, and Elly mentions that her actual recipe (especially for the peanut sauce) has secret ingredients not disclosed here. For more information or to visit her food truck, check out Satay By The Bay SF on Instagram, Facebook, or their website.
She's cutting with her fingers out, extra fingers with that peanut sauce.
How did galangal powder became aluminium powder in the subtitles?
Why would you need subtitles in the first place? If you can hear her say galangal, you clearly aren't deaf.
Hahahaha begitu yah🤣
Does she have social media or UA-cam?
Vitamin S!
"American size" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wonder what her secret ingredient she uses in her non generic peanut sauce???? Anyone, just curious?
😀 SATAY FROM INDONESIA
Lol American sized=3x … that’s what she said
indonesian, singaporean... no love for malaysian? :p
so u use peanut oil in the secret recipe
Kuah kacang Kuah kacang Kuah kacang
good lord why is she making sooooo much dipping sauce?
Why use dry ingredients such as onion, garlic and galangal powder. Wouldn’t fresh ingredients be better?
Yup. It's more bentar more flavor
Maybe its hard to get such fresh ingredient in america,i dont know
Not for a dry rub.
Why do I feel like Singapore is calling me to live there?😭😭
Even in Sg, using onion powder & garlic powder in marination is simply called abomination, lol
The title of this clip can cause a major War between 3-4 Nations! I shit you not!
They never said originated
Three times bigger means three times fatter! Go big or go home
haaa i knew a makcik bawang when i saw one. this one can't even keep her own secret recipe to herself.
Grilling satay using gas stove eh? Usually Satay were grilled by Charcoal BBQ stove.
I would never eat a secret recipie thats dangerous
Ayy, authentic MALAYSIAN satay
Ahh, can't wait for the comments where everyone will be respectful and understanding and definitely not going to accuse each other of stealing their cultural heritage.
Malaysians coming in to claim they have the best satays.
And where are you from
Where's the fucking lie
Still waiting for the day Sgeans care about anything Malaysians say 😅
Kajang Satay?
Because most of them think we Singaporeans come from Mars 😂
Singapore ? LMAO
I only clicked on this because I thought the lady in the thumbnail was topanga from boy meets world
Looks like all the comments by outraged Malaysians and Indonesian have been deleted.
Indonesians coming to claim satay in 3, 2, 1...
