Before my showing Equalizer 3 ( I dub Three-qualizer) they had a featurette talking about how Denzel would look over to the director in just awe of Dakota, literally saying "she's a grown up now," and my heart just melted.
The thing about equalizer 2 is it has the best line in the series. “Im going to kill you and everyone you care about and the only disappointment for me is that I only get to do it once.”
1. The Equalizer: Washington is so awesome in the lead role, the villains are despicable, and the action sequences are so much fun.
2. The Equalizer 2: Bringing in Pedro Pascal, the rideshare driver stuff, and the fight in the moving car make this more memorable than the third to me
3. The Equalizer 3: A satisfying conclusion in a great new location, but it lacked in some of the pacing and the villains were the weakest.
My exact same ranking!
The villains in the third were the most vile. Where the previous villains would harm victims within their circle, the villains in the third would harm public victims and anyone who stood in their way.

Actually, Sean, the actual most memorable action sequence from the first Equalizer is when he killed those guys in the room, and he was trying to do it in 16 seconds (he did it in 19). That's the sequence I hear people talk about when this movie is brought up.
Also, the actual memorable shot of said action scene is when the camera zooms into his eye, and we see him assess the situation while also mentally planning out the attack.
While I'm sure the hardware store sequence is a classic, more people recognizes the scene in the room than the hardware store.
I honestly really enjoyed all 3! But the third is my favorite
The standout action scene of the franchise is not the hardware scene, it's when he clears the entire room in under 20 seconds

Oh man, I love these movies and I cannot imagine a series that would be more difficult to rank than these. E2 was the most flawed, but also had some incredible standout scenes that I felt made up for it's shortcomings. E3 was a bit too grim in tone imo with barely any levity, but the violence was brutally real (this is a plus) and I went nearly airborne jumping out of my seat during one particular scene involving an explosion.
There are far more difficult franchises to rank than the Equalizer 😂

I watched the Equalizer 1 and 2 for the first time last weekend and I loved them. I still yet have to watch Equalizer 3!
Equalizer 2 is actually easily my favourite out of all them haha. I think for me it's 2>1>3
I am in the minority but i didnt enjoy the third one. Apart from the opening scene it felt way too slow for me
Exactly, barely any action as well and too much emphasis on the mob that never present a challenge to Robert. It felt more like a film where Denzel was just strolling through Italy as a vacation

Especially with background music in majority of movies I got so annoyed
I’ll be seeing 3 sometime this week but as of now both the first two movies kinda go hand in hand to me. But over time I’ve developed a preference for 2, it feels just a tad more personal and the note it ends on with him sitting at his old house and more on his wife felt like a resonate thing to end on if there wasn’t another film out now.
Ah! So I'm starting to see the degrees of separation between a cluster of movies here. As stated in this video, Dakota Fanning and Denzel Washington were in the 2004 Man on Fire remake while also appearing in The Equalizer 3 together. Antoine Fuqua, Director of all 3 Equalizer movies, previously directed Denzel Washington in Training Day, which featured actor Scott Glenn...who played the title role in the original 1987 Man on Fire. And Spoiler Alert:
In Training Day, Washington's character kills Glenn's, which I always felt was like a passing of the torch from one Man on Fire to another.
I enjoy 1 more than 2 and can't wait to check out the third one.

I think EQ3 took this franchise to #1 on my all time list. I hope they make another one, and it has to be with Denzel or it just won’t be as special.

I liked 1 and 3 but 2 was meh but still had its moments
Totally agree with this ranking, and I am old enough that I used to watch and love the original tv show with Edward Woodward as the Equaliser. Had a great theme tune too. The first movie has a touch of that tv show, but doesn't really reference it, other than the lead characters name, till the end when he puts an ad in the paper if someone needs help, call this number. The tv show started there with McCall this retired agent (probably CIA, though it is never referenced as such) who helps out normal people in the city around him.
My issue with the movies is that other than the first half of the first film it never had that 'local, normal people need help' feel about it. They just went bigger and bigger with the second movie, then moved McCall right out of America all together in the third. So in and of themselves they are great action movies, but not really much to connect them to the tv show, but that's par for the course with movies based on 80's and 90's tv shows these days. Keep the title, keep the name of the lead, change up the rest.
Would it be possible to make a video ranking action heroes/movies over 50? Seems like there are more of these cranking out each year. I would love to hear your thoughts on this genre.
Keanu Reeves or Tom Cruise would be at the top!

I watched Man on Fire before this and it's a cool movie,kind of a precursor to the Equalizer/Taken/John Wick wave of adult revenge movies.

I honestly didn’t know they made an Equalizer 2 until I saw the trail for 3 during Oppenheimer
The first equalizer was really good I’d give it a 9/10. The second one was a 7/10 and the third one was a 7.5/10
Equalizer 3 is seven samurai but instead it's one Denzel.
Normally I’d wonder about a Robert McCall/John Wick hand to hand fight outcome. But then I realize they would probably get along well together.

I've always felt that specifically the 1st equalizer movie is denzel Washington's "superhero" movie. Love the trilogy but the 1st one to me is pretty great.

Denzel is brilliant but I think the stand-out character in the first film is Marton Csokas as Teddy.
Im gonna get a lot of hate for this but Equalizer 3 is my personal movie of the year . I loved it so much and miss movies like this .

What would you give equalizer 3 on a rating scale
3: Equalizer 2 (I’m not a fan of this movie at all! It was boring with a thin, predictable plot. Until the awesome climax, the action is horrible! I guess it opened well, had a cool kill with the credit card and I liked the relationship with Miles, but that’s it! This movie is my cure for insomnia)
2: Equalizer 3 (A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. I have nothing really to say, I liked this movie, but didn’t love it. It’s way better than 2, but not nearly as good as 1)
1: The Equalizer (Honestly, one of my favorite movies of all time! The story is so gripping and well developed, unlike the second film. But, of course, the finale of the movie is awesome and full of some fantastic kills! Unpopular opinion, this movie is better than John Wick)

A movie is only as good as its villain and 3 has the worst one. And the least action. It was good but definitely the least of the 3. It honestly goes in order of release
Any chance you could do a Dad action ranking. Films like Equaliser, Taken, Mr Nobody, First John Wick(the other 3 are just to stupid) and any others you can think of for the list.

I loved E2! I know that’s a minority opinion. But the Boston setting and the relationship he had with the kid was very nice.

For me 3 was a little too light on action especially in the middle of the film
I love The Replacement Killers, saw it in theaters when i was 17, excellent film. I'm going to see Part 3 this weekend, but I thought Part 2 was a major letdown from how great the first one was done. Part 2 had some decent scenes, but overall didn't seem to go anywhere and wasted Denzels talent.
I really need to rewatch it. I’ll probably appreciate it a lot more now
I agree with your ranking, 2 is my least favourite of the trilogy but it’s still a fun action movie

Nope, if you think the Equalizer you think Edward Woodward, especially after Hot Fuzz and if you are a fan of the Wicker Man
Also given that the Equalizer has a thematic link to the brilliant show Callan , which is probably Woodward's finest character 😊😊😊

The first movie had more depth. They really spent time building the bad guy. He was also kind of likable as a villain.
He seemed like a decent adversaries.
None of the villains in 3 knew what was coming
2 is not good was boring
1: The Equalizer.
Seeing Denzel Washington fillet a host of bad guys with corkscrews, garden clippers and even a drill, as the camera zoomed all over the details, was a cinematic experience you never thought you needed, until you saw it!
2: The Equalizer 2.
My main issue with this film is the lack of focus and direction.
The film plays out more like a video game where you have the main plot line to complete, but as a gamer you can get distracted by the amount of side quests and then end up completely forgetting about the main storyline!
It wouldn’t be too much of an issue if the actual main storyline was interesting or compelling, but it just isn’t…
3: The Equalizer 3.
Thankfully the performance of Denzel stops the film feeling overly generic, but changing the setting and rearranging the narrative puzzle pieces isn’t enough to freshen a well-worn concept.
This one feels very much like Taken 3 and Rambo Last Blood…(Just not as bad though!)
