[1] America 250-Ohio
Prof. Yan Sun and Dr. Hong Yin have been selected by the America 250-Ohio Commission, and their five paintings are currently on display to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. These artworks showcase the wonders of Ohio and will be exhibited in Columbus until 2026.
[2] Two. Yan Sun's Art on National and International Stage
Yan Sun, a signature artist of Oil Painters of America (OPA) and the American Society of Marine Artists, recently achieved recognition for his oil paintings. Yan Sun's artworks have been featured in prestigious exhibitions by the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society. His excellence extends to the American Impressionist Society's 24th Annual National Juried Exhibition. Yan Sun's active participation as a signature artist in the American Society of Marine Artists was evident at the 4th National Marine Art Conference in Albany, New York, in September 2023.
[3] Three. Yan Sun in Media Coverages
Yan Sun gained media recognition with an interview on WOSU’s Broad & High, an Emmy® Award-winning show. Additionally, WHIZ-Fox 5 TV and WHIZ AM 1240 Radio featured him as the Artist of the Month, representing Zanesville's Artist Colony. The American Society of Marine Artists showcased his painting "Hydra Island Sunlight, Greece" in their News & Journal, Spring 2023.
[4] Community Services
In 2023, Yan Sun serves as a judge for the "Ohio Valley Plein Air" event, engaging artists in creating outdoor art. He also co-judges the Salt Fork Arts & Crafts Festival in Ohio, showcasing a diverse range of art mediums. Yan Sun collaborates with the committee of the “Ohio Governor Youth Art Exhibition,” selecting artworks from Eastern Ohio high schools in Spring 2023.
[5] Painting Workshops and Private Classes
The Spring and Fall Painting Workshops with Professor Yan Sun as well as private classes were a fantastic experience. Gratitude goes to all the talented participants who shared their creative spirit with us. These workshops, enriched by Professor Yan Sun's step-by-step guidance and acrylic color demonstrations, provided a unique opportunity for artistic exploration. The wonderful paintings created by the workshop participants are featured in dedicated exhibitions.
[6] Open Studio Events
Two "From Sketch to Studio Painting" open studio events took place at the gallery in 2023. Yan Sun, known for his mastery of landscape and seascape paintings, warmly welcomed studio guests and introduced the subjects of the events. Plein air sketches created during his visits to Reid Falls in Skagway and the Mendenhall Glacier, Alaska, were transformed into studio paintings during these open studio events at Yan Sun Art Museum & Gallery, 604 Main Street, Zanesville, Ohio. [7] Monthly Art Gallery Exhibitions
Our art gallery exhibitions are open to the public on the first Friday of every month from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Each event is a special occasion where art lovers can explore our gallery and engage with the artworks. Guided tours are also available to enhance your art gallery experience. We will take you on an insightful journey through the artworks, sharing interesting stories and background information.
