    edibleacres.org/permaculture-nurseries has a pretty robust list of some of our favorite nurseries. Could be a nice starting place to track down a wide range of your favorite hardy food and medicine bearing perennials. We will offer a whole bunch of lovely plants again for shipping on September 1st on our site and will offer local bare root sales announced here soon. We appreciate immensely all you wonderful folks who come to our small nursery for your plant needs, wow, we're so lucky! Sorry we don't have larger capacity but such great news that there are SO many other wonderful nurseries to check out and help grow!

    Canadian here; Blackbird hollow is great, I've ordered from them in the past! For those of us based on the west coast I highly recommend Tree eater Nursery on Denman for mail ordered plants, Eco-sense in the highlands of Vancouver island for weekend plant sales, and myself I grow a farm based small scale nursery on Quadra island, and am happy to trade or sell my limited stock. All the best!

    La Réfriche Nursery - Pépinière la Réfriche
    Hi all, we are a Canadian nursery in Ripon, Quebec, (zone 4a) specializing in cold hardy edible plants for permaculture. We strive to offer a vast collection of carefully selected nut trees, fruit trees, fruit bushes, perennials and support species.
    Right now our online store is still open for bare root shipping or local pick up until April 20th. We also have a fall order period from mid October to early November.
    The English version of our website is available as you scroll all the way down from the home page and click the language switch at the bottom left.
    Thank you Juan, Sasha and Sean for being each of you a long lived inspiration to our people. 💚
    Best regards!

    Hi! I am just starting out my small nursery/food forest in South West Scotland (near Wigtown - Scotland's National Book Town).
    Hopefully, I will have lots of hazelnut saplings this autumn - I've put in hundreds of nuts! Just yesterday I was watching videos with you about layering honeyberries. Thank you for posting so much useful information on this channel, it's tremendous. I love the propagation potential, it's so exciting. I was feeling rather deflated because I can't afford buying all the plants that I want now. But I look at a newly planted bush and see hundreds of possible delicious plants in the making. Yesterday I planted 1 blackcurrant Titania and 2 gooseberries. I'm sure I'll give them passionate looks every time I walk past that area where they're planted. 🤗💛🤗
    Also, Happy Women's Day for Sasha (and the young lady Zelda). Sunday is also my birthday, hence why I treated myself to some plants ☺️.

    You guys are awesome. I can never order from you cause you're always sold out when I check but there are a lot of great nurseries I have discovered in my own West Coast milieu. One of the top 5 gardening channels for me. Just simple, real and teaching fundamentals. In lieu of Benjamins I'll give you guys a compliment. Thanks and take care of your family and friends!

      We are incredibly lucky to have the amount of interest and support that we have. Ethically, and also energetically it only makes sense to distribute more evenly. To see that pattern in the landscape with water and not internalize it for the flow of financial or attention energy misses a fundamental design principle, I think.

    The majority of my bare root fruit trees and bushes and crowns have come from Fedco's trees division. I like that they are in the same state as me, employee owned, and engaged in meaningful community work. The past few years I've thought to myself that I would order from you, but each time it comes around I'm too slow!

    South east nurseries !
    First off thank you Sean for all you do and for giving us this collaborative space 😊
    If you’re looking for nurseries in the south east I really love supporting a place called Feralwood Nursery. You can find them online, they rock. Human scale bare root great genetics, and amazing people behind the scenes.
    I also operate a human scale nursery currently NC near Durham. I have a few bare root trees left that I am trying to move fast. Spring is here in the south and trees are waking up. I’ve got some oaks, Osage orange, red maple, and hickory.
    I also have some honey locust seeds for sale from thornless mother trees at John Hershey Farm up in PA. These locust trees have a very high sugar content in the pods. I’m only in my second year now so just getting rolling and hoping to have a lot more to offer next season.

    For fruit trees in the UK I can recommend Tom The Apple Man based round the English/Welsh border. Had some young but uncommonly study trees from him last year that are still looking good. Lots of rare varieties from that area, and organically farmed.

    Very happy to hear of your success and what a gracious gesture to share this platform for other small nurseries. I'd love to learn about ethical nurseries in Europe, especially in and near Switzerland. I do need a female seaberry plant as well as the Goumi berry that seems just so hard to find.

    Your mention of the planting made me wonder: what are your thoughts on the GMO chestnut tree experiments and if you have concerns that those genetics will escape into the wild?

    • @edibleacres
      @edibleacres  2 місяці тому +1

      I'm really so not excited about that project. It seems like it might be falling apart, and I celebrate that. The idea of transgenics integrated into long lived tree systems feels grotesque, and a very thinly veiled pathway for corporations like Monsanto and other beasts to control even more of our natural world.

    • @homesteadrevivals
      @homesteadrevivals 2 місяці тому

      @@edibleacres Thank you. I was horrified to learn of the project, and am still concerned that the pollen carried genetics will escape into the wild. It frustrates me to see organizations making enormous genetic decisions with long term consequences for the natural world. If those genetics escape and are successful, our native chestnut will eventually be replaced by an engineered product. The very tree the organization was supposedly trying to save, will go extinct.
