Stromae is Belgium and the city where this music video was shot is Brussels. In Belgium, drunk walking can lead you to 2 to 12 hours in "sobering cell" at the police station. It's called "ivresse publique", which lousely translates to "Public drunkness".
Oh, and BTW, all reactions of the anonymous people, Police included are genuine : the music video was filmed in "caméra cachée) don't know the exact english translation but it means only Stromae knew he was filmed.
"Il est saoul" (pronounced "sool" or "soo") = "he's drunk". "Minable" is "pathetic"; he says "j'étais fort minable". "Se mettre minable" can also mean "to get drunk". He explains that his girlfriend dumped him because he can't have children. For the verb "boire" ("to drink"), the past tense is "bu": "j'ai bu, tu as bu, il a bu" etc. Please also watch "Papaoutai"!
Stromae is a very unique artist. I’m sure you will find him very interesting. I love his music 😊
stromae is an absolute genius.. please, listen to other songs by this wonderful artist.. curiosity: STROMAE is the anagram of MAESTRO
Stromae is a mastermind in lyricismn. He often put deep meaning in his lyrics and put them into songs you want to dance to.
I first heard of him back then when Alors en danse hit the radio and years later I also read the translated lyrics and was a little bamboozled. I always thought of it as a happy go lucky dance song but the text to it then hit deep.
He also has the tendency to sing from different perspectives.
Similar to that are most of his other works.
You can put most of his songs into the recommendations so I try to get the top contenders for me:
Papaoutai (you already reacted to the cover from Pentatonix)
Carmen
Bâtard
Fils de joie
Quand c'est?
Tous le Mêmes
L'enfer
... and many many more but for your next dive into his lyrics, these are some excellent choices.
he is from Belgium 😊
I'm glad you liked it.
It's also about having a child. At the beginning he says she left him because he can't have a baby. At the end he says “give me a baby monkey”!
“fort minable” means “very shabby”, so it’s a play on words: tu étais formidable, j'étais fort minable.
So, you can pronounce French, I’m impressed. Great song and yes, he was pretending to be drunk. Stromae has many great songs, all of which are very poetic. Maybe “Alors on dance” next.
Stromae - papaoutai (Official Video)
is also very interesting and a catchy tune
bravo pour votre francais
Stromae is a Belgian singer. Little explanation of its name. Stromae is an inversion of the Maesto syllables (mae-stro -> stro-mae - Pronounced like Stromaé). Syllable inversion (verlan) is a form of French slang very common in France, especially in the 1980s.
I also recommend his songs like "Alors on danse", " Papaoutai", "Tous les Mêmes" and "Fils de joie".
adoro Tues les Memes anche il video; Geniale!!
wow D your French is very good. Here in Belgium we speak 3 languages (dutch, french and german) but almost no one does, I know Dutch speaking people who can't speak French as well as you do. Tu es formidable
Before all let me do that rectification
Stromae is a Belgian artist.
That video was filmed with hiding cameras so the intervention of the policemen was real as they didn’t realise it was a video making
Here, fort minable (very pathetic) is a pun to rhyme with formidable
Thanks but everyone already understood that

If you consider that my answer was for you (all) and not for « ReactionsbyD » you’re absolutely right… But, are you sure of that 😜🤣
@@fredgoutier6162 For the cops he seemed to have no doubt 😏
I’m a Rammstein fan. But i love this song! ❤
Our BELGIAN genius! Quand c'est ist a must watch. More popular are songs as Tous les memes, l'enfer and of course papaoutai (1 billion views).
it was hidden cameras as said in the end of the video : "filmé intégralement en caméra cachée".
go listen stromae !!
In French we more commonly say : "il est Bourré" . there is an expression that I love which means that the person is drunk : être rond comme une queue de pelle
Au Québec, on dit des fois "être soul comme une botte" !
je vous conseillerai "un homme debout" Chanson de Claudio Capéo etant donné votre comprehensiuon du français je penses que celle ci vous touchera. Merci pour ces bons moments.
One of his masterpieces, musically and videowise!
We love him so much here our belgian genius ❤️
Stromae = Humain à l'eau, Tous les mémes 😉
I love this France song its really good
He is from Belgium
❤❤❤ the best look "papaoutai" and "carmen"👍👍👋
I dont know If I already mention but last year during a concert of Maneskin in Nancy France Damiano did a cover of it mind blowing
🧡
What a amazing song... ❤❤❤❤❤
I heard this song first in a Spanish TV crime series, "Death on La Gomera".
I remembered this song immediately...
Question: Is this song from France or Belgium?
Belgium, and the video is made in Brussels
@@XiaoVeen I know, but this fact doesn't mean that a Spanish crime series can't use this song too. 😊
@@danielkaufmann15 For sure, this was just to answer the question. I guess this series is "formidable" 😉
@@XiaoVeen
Oh.. Sorry.. Now I got you.. Thank you for your answer 👍😊
@@XiaoVeen And yes, the series is formidable 😊. Sadly, it's only aviable on the "ZDF Mediathek", the streaming service of the zdf. May be you can get access from Belgium?
Look "l'enfer"❤❤
Stromae is a genius. I love him very much
Tienes q ver mas videos de Strome como Ave Cesaria
Another good songs from Stromae: Carmen,Tous les mêmes, Santé.
the name of stromae is the revers of maestro
No.. Not really 🤔
"eamorts"???
in europe if u are drunk like he in video come police or ambulance and take you to the special place and u must stay there until u are sober
it cost crazy moneys
It depends on the country. In France it's as you say, but here it is in Brussels, drunkenness in the street is authorized unless the person behaves violently or dangerously.
Formidable (wonderfull), Fort minable (pathetic). Fort= très (very)
That's weak. You are less every century . Almost nothimg left. Where is your sprit, left behind or lost?!!!
