your commentary on binary fashion/EA’s laziness is totally sane and makes tons of sense. the filters allow us to put whatever on our sims, so male and masculine sims should not be shorted. i’m a straight woman and like to make both male and female sims, and i especially want my male romantic partners to not wear the same three outfits lol.
Same!! I have to reuse the same outfits for my male sims as I like to make them look masculine and I am TIYAD 😂😂 give us more options EA!
I agree, the whole point of the tag is to help players find what they are looking for. Some of my men dress more flamboyantly but I also want some to look sharp with well fitted clothes, while others I make might dress with more loose and casual clothes. However the overall way they make clothes fit the male frame looks terrible for many outfits , and what isn't badly fitted is just a female outfit converted to male. This doesn't even touch on how bad their hair looks.
I'd add that when you want to make a male framed sim wear female clothes, you understand the crap: they just put the clothes on the frame not adapting the clothes so they fit badly making your Sims look ugly. A dress that would normally fit on a slim flat chested woman or a man in real life doesn't in the game because they are just lazy.
Yes but also, I dont want the male npc autogenerated sims having those earings or other that we had in the past kit that are not meant for males sims... this is so annoying.

I want an all MALE sims clothing and hair kit. Why is the males ALWAYS being so neglected I don't understand!! If the sims team find it so damn hard to make male clothes and hair then collab with CC creators !! Like common it's about time to show some love for the male sims in this game.
Always the same jacket and vest. Always the same haircut. And the only kit we have for males is just a weird one with designer clothes that are very unusable.

They seem to always treat the male sims as second class, your right, CC is the only way to have a good selection of choices.
They don't even get much cc either. I wish creators would create more modern clothing for male sims. Not just skinny jeans either. Just regular semi loose fitting jeans.

I don't understand the obsession of making male sims outfit so baggy. Why can't I dress my male sims with tight fitting clothes a.k.a dressed like a jock.
The baggy cloths are trendy right now, but there is skin tight male clothes in base game and in some expansions.

Then EA needs to stop selling diversity and just market themselves as trendy since that is all they are.
I agree so much, I don't hate the bagginess but there's just so much of it. Plus, it just looks weird on a lot of my sims, especially muscular ones. It has the effect of making their heads looks tiny and overall messes with their proportions.
Those chunky earrings are called bamboo earrings in the black community. They were popular mostly from the late 80s to mid 90s. I've had them in silver, gold, black and green. I need to get some new ones.

I believe he is saying the 3D mesh of those shirts look like it was created for male frame bodies then just put in the female frame section instead of making 2 different meshes to better suit each body frame. That is why he said it was lazy. I wish EA provided unique dashikis or jerseys for female and male. Maybe different colors, different patterns, and so on instead of a copy paste.
@@amberbouley Yeah, I have some classic football jerseys from my dad, they’re meant for a male frame but, they look waaay different on me than they did on him. It’s absolutely laziness and we know this because, there are loose fitting clothes in the game for feminine frames already that look totally normal… Incheon arrivals comes to mind

So for some context: the simmer who did this kit actually confirmed that the 1st piece of CC they made was a dashiki (the shirt next to the butterfly shirt) & it was the reason she started getting into creating CC, to fill in the gap the Sims was missing, hence the inclusion of it in the kit as it was super important to her. Also she mentioned how the basketball shorts with the numbers representing her family members birthdays & that many of these pieces are things she herself has made into CC & many also are pieces of clothing she wears IRL.
Honestly I think that's really cool & it gives such a more personal touch to this kit.
as someone who grew up around girls who wore those chunky hoop earrings, they are SPOT ON. perfect size, texture, and all. Made me nostalgic lol.

I think its great both options are available for both genders but they have to make a complete set of gendered stuff for each gender and not just recycle it or do less male clothing

The game is lacking in standard “masculine” fashion for everyone, I make butch lesbians and nonbinary sims and need CC to have them looking decent and not just wearing the same 3 masc outfits…there’s an imbalance for sure, but I agree making the meshes available for both frames isn’t the source of the issue, it’s just being lazy lmao

The chunkiness of the earrings, revealing shirts and the big, baggy jersey shirt that seemed to be masculine is definitely part of urban style. You can see these styles in large American cities like St. Louis & stuff.

Urban 2000s WHERE?! They missed all of the most common pieces and styles: hip hugger bell bottoms, huge belts for women and men, bandana tops, capris/pedal pushers, spaghetti strap tank tops, those short ruffled 2 or 3-layered skirts, oversized short sleeved plaid shirts and bowling shirts (preferably with dragons on them) for men, oversized baggy denim shorts for men, Kangol hats for men and women, platform sandals, parachute pants for men and women, t-shirts over long sleeved shirts for men and women, Juicy-style tracksuits, oversized baggy tracksuits for men, peasant blouses, trucker hats for men and women, butterfly hair clips and those "tattoo" chokers and bracelets. I'm not familiar with the designers but I can tell they weren't even out of diapers (or even born yet) during the early 2000s. I find this kit mildly upsetting. lol
@@kiddy1992 In the early 2000s everyone pretty much stuck to the same general range of styles worldwide (except for Harajuku, Japan, who were the "different" and "weird" trailblazers), so there isn't really an excuse for how they could have gotten it so wrong (especially with the huge amount of reference material out there).
I guess it's a similar situation as with the Goth kit where they prefer to go with a modern interpretation of the style instead? Maybe to be hip and cool with the kids? Also, coming from someone who's both into making CC and works in the design field there's always someone upstairs who tells you what to do, and that certain someone is almost always some desk-jockey in a pinstripe suit. No hate, no shade at anyone. I just wanted to theorize on why this kit is so polarizing lol

Ebonix said that these specfic clothing items are from her pov since its a collab with her. though i guess it would be understandable for you not to like it. BUT its from how she grew up around the london fashion

Makes sense , like the items but don’t like how it’s all over the place . Seemed like she was trying to get as many ideas out at once vs having creative control to do as she please .

Like what is the purpose of constantly speaking on people “supposedly “ calling you out for being ignorant if that’s untrue. I haven’t seen any of the comments he mentions that call him conservative and other names for his opinions but he talks about them constantly. IMO anyone using woke as an insult is ignorant and way too invested in politics.
They could have literally given diamond studs instead of hoops for male cas for example, it's a masculine fashion staple
A single diamond stud option (and a double) would’ve been great and fit the theme well

I never understood why all the male stuff seems to have HUGE shoulders and width, making even the skinniest look like linebackers.
Quick note- the top at 1:45 is actually a bodysuit, it has some shorts attached if you take the bottoms off! An interesting choice for sure, but hopefully someone finds it useful :)

Honestly. If this kit had all Afro inspired HAIRSYTLES kit only, no clothes. I would buy in an instant. And so would many others that don't have access to CC. This was a missed opportunity, especially since Ebonix hairstyles be 🥶!! Still congrats on the collab once again!!!

@@augusto7681 it's true they would be sealing diversity. They are already doing that with packs/expansions anyways, which will never make it right, but at this point it is what it is. This kit is already sealing diversity as is, so might as well give us what we want. Afro hairstyles kit would have been 🔥 by Ebonix
@@augusto7681so the answer is to just not bother making them at all? Like they could make a donation to an appropriate charity or collab with a bunch of black creators to try and even it out. Selling diversity is dodgy and people are allowed to be annoyed when their natural features and culture are considered afterthoughts and add-ons that they have to pay extra for, but that doesn’t mean you just…don’t do it ever.

@@augusto7681 Why shouldn't they be in the base game? There was NOTHING but 1 token hairstyle from TS1 to well into TS3. They were always 2 basegame "ethnic" styles and nothing else. I had to download like 200 hairs from Nouk back in the day for TS2. You shouldn't have to be expected download CC for the last 20 years.

The butterfly top is not referring to anything, it’s just a really viral top on tik tok right now. Although, the texture is not right, original ones were more “pearly” or gold

The butterfly top was also in style in the early 2000’s and since the pack is a nod to throwback “urban” fashion the texture is right in this context
About the point in masculine/femmenine filters - totally agree with you. With these unisex clothes, there's just no point with filters. If I want to dress my girl like tomboy I just remove fem. filter, what's the problem? No one says you cant dress male sim in girl dress if you wish, but you should make separate clothes for both. Even now there isnt many male clothing in the game, and EA still tries to impress us with the nubmer of new game items so we would SURERLY BUY every kit they realease. I dont get actually, why, as ypu said in the video, girls got all naughty stuff, and boys got more ordinary and basic clothes. Why they not care to change the earrings that will match some new boys unique jeans or top? Lazyness? Maybe. Just change the girly heart on the earring to circle, or to X, or lightning, so it would be at least more unique. Just a little bit. No need to try reaaly hard, because I'm still not buying it until you fix the game.
The jersey tops should've been for male sims and they could've had jersey dresses for female sims. Jersey dresses were huge in the early 2000s.
Women also wear jersey tops so it makes sense but I agree they could have added jersey dresses
This is NOT a British kit it’s an URBAN kit. Meaning Black & Hispanic & a lot of what was shown was and still is worn by us. It’s for us.
Oh and btw those shirts are called Dashiki’s and they’re unisex. Which is why they’re on both male and female sims.

The pack is based on early 2000’s black fashion. The cc creator is black and she said she had a strict item count that she had to keep to
As a masculine female the lack of masculine clothes also annoys me, plus the majority don't even fit the female frame and you end up with weird polygon breasts and a sunken crotch :(

One of the biggest problems with male frame sims clothes is the *clown color swatches, rendering most of them unusable and/or redundant,* besides the repetitive style/cloth category.

Nah Oversized is the style for those urban items. Its supposed to have a loose cool fit. Also, the hoops (earrings) are supposed to be that big. Hoops are well loved in black/Latina communities. (bigger the better) Butterflies and that top specifically were a big thing. Google Mariah Carey butterfly top it is an iconic look. I agree there could have been more male items and a full body fit for female.
Women do wear loose clothing so the dashiki is how it should be.

Leaving elder sims in the lurch. They also do this for infants, toddlers and children life stages of not creating enough CAS content for them. Which you would think they would explore this market for cash grab sakes.

Honestly, I want more modest clothing for my older folk I play generationally with multiple households, And i keep having to re-use clothing. Alot of these packs are targeted towards Teenage-Young adult sims. I also think they should go through the catalogue and refresh old clothing.
A cropped jacket is called a bolero jacket.
And there was a brief period of time, I don't remember when, exactly, when urban style had women wearing oversized team jerseys. So, for once, that may not have been EA being cheap.
Early 90’s we wore oversized team jerseys. Especially Raiders and Bulls jerseys, jackets, pants etc.
@5:22 The pants with the laced ties down the sides, man I miss wearing them back when I was in high school. Course I didn't wear them when I was in school, but I loved those pants. Mine were light blue colored but had been bleached to look like tiger stripes on them.

I agree with the weird non fitted clothes, especially because one can turn off the filter and add male/ female clothes to your sim. But that specific piece I believe is a hockey jersey, so they’re baggy all around.
They do the same things over and over again. The game is full of ripped/cropped jeans. Will they ever give us regular lengths and not ripped or skin tight? The game is also full of crop tops for women and I think there must be three other versions of that (cute) skirt in the game.
I also agree with you about how they put masculine clothing in the feminine category to make it look like there's more content.
It’s super easy to make slightly grungy sims and drag-adjacent (which I DO love but it’s not everyone’s style) but not a lot of standard or preppy or any other alt fashion…there’s so many subcultures and fashion trends to explore but we consistently get new ripped and skinny jeans every pack lmao.
And I get so frustrated with the saturation of crop tops in a game obsessed with low-rider bottoms. Like I know the game is a decade old but having your whole torso on show isn’t a particularly flattering look
The crop top thing may be a Californian thing. Where I live, we see one every blue moon or so. Then again, snow only melted last week around here.

I love the late 90s early 2000s USA styles that are in this pack. I remember my aunt having those big chunky bamboo looking hoop earings. I myself wore huge baggy shirts (a lot of them taken from my dad's closet).
I've noticed in a lot of the more recent packs male Sims have a lot of oversized boxy-shaped clothing and the same is true here, whilst this pack has multiple crop tops and more form fitting clothing for female frames. Come on now EA, some of us want out male Sims is tight and skimpy clothing!

I think the sims team don't realise (or just ignore) that you can't have diversity if you only represent groups that you've decided are 'the diverse ones'.
Having a cut-off point where masculine clothes are considered 'not a part of diversity' just means that you represent less people. Nothing about making masculine clothes would be stopping them from having all the androgynous and feminine clothes they already have.
But men = bad 😅😂
The thing is androgynous isn’t just “woman lite” and huge amounts of people who are nonbinary lean towards masc aesthetics. Transmasc ppl exist, trans men, butch lesbians, masculine nonbinary people…it’s not somehow better for diversity to neglect an entire style of dress, you’ll still be alienating marginalised people.

I don’t think EA understands that we WILL and don’t mind paying for quality. If Ebonix wanted to do 48 items in order to completely execute her vision we would pay $9.98 .

I think its more to do with the fact that the game was originally a mobile game and they have absolutely stuffed it full of sooooooooooooo much stuff it barely runs. They re use meshes all the time for that reason
I’m a female simmer and i would love to see more masculine fashion in the sims. They’re so busy trying to push inclusivity but they forgot to include everyone

Those boots are so 2014 omg, i don’t really feel like they match the rest of the stuff that well. The items are generally okay, the sporty shorts and baggy too are pretty cute

It's sad that the masculine/feminine filter being unlockable, a good feature for inclusivity, is being abused by EA to cut more content so that they can move on to churning out the next Pack faster.
5:56 Not male necessarily. The WNBA exists and there is a portion of the female population (in the US, at least) that wears those types of shorts. They're basically graphical board shorts. Sure it's usually guys who wear basketball shorts but there was a time where guys were the only ones wearing high heels, wigs, and carrying purses. This whole pack screams 'hood' to me, being throwbacks to my teenage years in the mid '80s to '90s ("the bigger the hoop, the bigger the....garden tool"). Many of those pieces were featured in "urban" films from decades ago. Love & Basketball (shorts), The Players Club (tight pants with the laces on the outside), Jason's Lyric and Set It Off (baggy fitted jeans), and the daishiki (6:45) featured in almost every urban film from The Last Dragon on. I don't hate it since it resonates with me more than most other kits. But I'd never put those hoops on any of my sims (refer to the earlier quote - and those hoops are BIG). On a side note, I've heard the word 'dungarees' more in this video than I have in the last 20 years combined! 🤣
Oh Camden Town! Now a Blackwidowlondon inspired kit would be great. Not whatever the “goth” kit was.

it reminds me that i'd love both an all mens pack but not like the last designer one we got, a proper menswear kit with unique but masculine pieces, and also an elders pack. so many crop tops and low rise pants.... my poor old ladies can only ever wear nifty knitting or cottage core because all the other stuff is always cropped AKjdsf

Just to inform you, this pack is not british per say. It was created by a black summer to be more inclusive to black and brown people. Idk. I play with male sims (I know, shocking). I make all different kinds if men, feminine and masculine, and I'll be honest, even with cc (which I have a LOT) it's hard to make masculine male sims. All the pants are cropped, the tops are baggy, or knitted and idk a "bro" football player guy wouldn't wear that 💀
I have a problem with gender clothing being tag as both sometimes... like the earings... because that means my random npc male sims will pop up with those on just like the giga indian earings from the street fashion kit... oh god LOL not again.

It is a kit. A kit is only ever CAS OR BB, not both.
I guess this pack is fine if you are playing on console since all of this clothes you can get them free using mods if i was thinking of buying this pack i would rather just donate the money to someone instead of filling EA pockets

As a gender nonconforming trans man, I think you're right and you should say it. While I love mixing clothing types on my sims, there is such a depressing lack of clothing in the male category. I rely on cc to do something that EA should be doing.
About the feminine/masculine tag, I think it’s not so much fashion choice and more so if the item is meshed correctly for the frame. Yes you can turn off the tag but it will always look a bit off, especially in the chest area. This is not an excuse however for the cas imbalance between genders
As an Aussie, I’m wondering if h is starting to become a silent letter in the us. Think about how they say herb. The h is so silent they even say “an” herb instead of “a” herb. Interesting watching how language changes over time

as a tomboy who exclucively plays with tomboys, I appreciate when they take a masculine item and fit it on a female frame. I use the cross gender items from grunge revival every game.

I would say that the baggy clothes are meshed for women, not men. The fit on the male sim isn't well.
I really like those clothes but I never buy packs that have only clothing.
In New Zealand we pronounce it home aadge for homage. The aadge part rhymes with badge.
