Damien Mohammed We don't know if Ragnar really existed. He is most likely a character like Robin Hood, a man based upon different historical characters who have been put into one character. It is true that the Vikings raided Lidesfarn, but they were Norwegian Vikings, not Danish. The Vikings series is a mix of history, saga and the supernatural. You will see deities like Odin, Thor and Jesus Christ. It's based upon the Viking view of the world and from the Vikings' perspective, there were many gods, including the Christian one. Most likely the early Vikings who converted to Christianity were monolatrists and not monotheists.
