- Giselle is one of a community of migrant garment factory workers (the Outcasts). Dispossessed of their jobs by the factory’s closure, and separated by a high wall from their hopes of livelihood and security, the Outcasts function as little more than exotic entertainment, being forced to dance for the factory Landlords. This is what we see in the clip.

I had the great fortune to see this last night at the Manchester Palace theatre, mind-blowing amazing dancers and soundtrack.
total ballet dystopia reimagined.
I'm hooked. I need to see it again now that I know what the story of "Giselle" is all about. I recommend everybody sees this production. twas my first ballet too.
absolute game changer.
This is absolutely hypnotic. I keep watching it over and over again. I completely missed that Akram Khan version when it came out. I'm going to buy the dvd. The regret I have is that I won't see Alina Cojocaru in it - I like Tamara Rojo but I would have loved to see Alina.
Just saw the show yesterday and it was MAGNIFICENTLY BEAUTIFUL to say the least!!! And this was the best part by far!
That looks nice in itself, but I have quite a few mixed feelings about it being Giselle.

If it’s not the same music, choreography, and only based on the story, is it really Giselle? Not in my opinion but I think it’s cool as a separate entity
There are multiple versions of a lot of stories, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky and Berlioz all wrote pieces of music about Romeo and Juliet, each a different musical interpretation but all follow the same story, each one equally as much “Romeo and Juliet” as the others.
It is a fresh interpretation based on Giselle.
In my opinion is what ballet really needs today .
A story that is speaks of today and is universal.
I found the music and the choreography incredible plus all the superbe dancers of the E.N.B.

It is not without redeeming qualities but the name is so misleading. If I purchased tickets to watch Giselle, I would be hugely disappointed and angry to see this.
Happened to me. I thought it was Giselle the classic ballet. The webpage did not make it clear it was this crap. Only time I've ever been scammed at the theater.
I saw this in the theatre. Cost me 200 bucks. Never felt so scammed in my life.

this is not ballet. At the basic level, the camera angles suck. They fail to capture and respect the grounding classicism that distinguishes from other dances. Ballet is about rigid rules while telling a story. This clip is pretty, but it is far from ballet. It is an imitation of a traditional immobilized movement in Russia
It’s funny that people say this when people still refer to the rite of spring as a ballet when the choreo was anything but.
