You should give Six Flags more credit for being within close proximity to its big competitors. It would be hard to rival Universal Studios', Knott's, and Disneyland's theming and entertainment. Magic Mountain just wants to stand out for what it does best.
That's kind of the reason why they are all about coasters too. Knott's Berry farm is their closest competitor with around 3-4 high thrill coasters so it makes sense to have more coasters than family rides
@@MonsterFlame1 This was five years ago. I was referring to the flat ride found in the DC area of the park called "Wonderwoman lasso of truth" which is just a classic fairground flat ride (centrifuge I believe is the proper name).
So basically for the young kids go to SFGA and for the big kids and adults go to SFMM. From a pure coaster standpoint which is all I care about SFMM wins by a landslide.

I have been to both of the parks, and I had a better experience overall at Magic Mountain. Yeah, Great Adventure is fun, but Magic Mountain had better roller coasters (Tatsu, X2, Full Throttle, Riddler) and Great Adventure had longer lines, and more frequent ride break downs, like Kingda Ka broke down 3 times when I was in line. Overall, Magic Mountain is better, well at least in my opinion

Jakob Ogan SFGA has Superman, and define "break down" please, I've been to the park a lot of times and I've never seen Kingda ka break down while I was there. It has had malfunctions, but the only notable things were a bolt malfunction, where no one was hurt, and it was struck by lightning. Besides that it hasn't had any real issues.
billizkuelpwn87 Rollbacks, when I went it rolled back 3 times when I was in line (took 20 min each time to get the ride running again). SFGA Superman is beaten by SFMM Tatsu. Tatsu is an original design and uses the terrain well. I think a bird also hit someone on Kingda Ka in 2012
I believe Lex Luthor should have one in drop towers. It vibrates and sways at the top, you feel alone, with the gondolas being back-to-back, and there's better theming
Lex Luthor is actually better than Zumanjaro IMO because Lex Luthor gives you the feeling that you're alone, because the cars are on opposite sides. Lex Luthor can also run simultaneously with Superman, causing the entire tower to sway significantly. The swaying is actually quite scary when you're 400 ft. up in the air.
You should do a rematch since Magic Mountain is getting West coast racers and magic mountain is clearing land all over the park. When you’re entering the park you do see a lot of mountains that They are probably gonna use. Besides that great video
I don't really agree with half the things said in this video. I think that they are both great parks, and having been to both of them, I really prefer Magic Mountain. Overall, the experience I had at the two parks was great, but Magic Mountain's was far superior. Magic Mountain does have its fair share of flat rides, there just aren't as many. As for the kid rides, I find that there are plenty of them. And those that say that Magic Mountain is just big roller coasters, they just have a lot of coasters, which makes it seem that there aren't many inbetween coasters. And for operations, I have never been disappointed with Magic Mountain (only in the winter when they refurbish the coasters). In summer, whenever I go, they always run two coasters if they can. They also are super fast. Tatsu, as soon as the coaster makes it back, they send another one. Goliath is the same way. Twisted Colossus is super fast! Its not just a park too, but the people. The reason why Twisted Colossus doesn't always race is because the people take to long. They bring their belongings and place it on the other side of the station, and then they get in. They take all the time they want. Also, the Screampunk Theme is actually pretty great! And the scenery on some of the coasters is too! I'm done with my rant now, but I prefer Magic Mountain over Great Adventure. The coasters at Great Adventure may be better (Toro and Ka) but if I go to the park and head to my favorite coasters, I prefer X2 and Tatsu over them. Anyways, opinion is opinion. (although this seemed like a quite biased video)
Garrett Cooper of course it’s biased, he lives closer to great adventure and only looks for flaws in parks that he wants to lose, he didn’t mention ANYTHING about how rough Kingda ka is or how often it’s not working properly, the only reason twisted colossus got 3 points (even though it’s a great ride don’t get me wrong) is because he has a hard on for RMC and won’t say anything bad about any RMC except “ThE tHeMiNg CoUlD’vE bEeN BeTtEr”

@Christian Horvaht Also, line wise, I wouldn't say that. Great Adventure is near a lot of people within a 100 mile radius. Magic Mountain is just near LA, but still gets extensive lines, and has recently reached capacity multiple times. With West Coast Racers, Crazanity, Battle for Metropolis, and Twisted Colossus in the park, Magic Mountain has really stepped up their lineup, fixed areas up, and is definitely superior IMO. Great Adventure has been going downhill with their operations, but are adding what seems to be a solid addition this year.
@Christian Horvaht I have been to Great Adventure. I have been to most theme parks in North America. :) And saying it is close to Phili further supports my comment. It might be because I have been to so many theme parks that makes Great Adventure not as appealing. Example, Kingda Ka is a rougher, not as comfortable or intense version of Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. Bizarro is a decent floorless coaster, but Medusa (in California) is miles better. Nitro is a B&M hyper, and the airtime is floater. El Toro is the parks standout attraction, along with Jersey Devil later this year. Personally, I would rather go to Magic Mountain any day over Great Adventure. Have you been to Magic Mountain?

Let me just start off by saying I've been to both of these parks. And I understand that Great Adventure has more family rides and stuff and is overall a more rounded park, but last time I checked Magic Mountain has the most kid Coasters, and last time I checked most kids 5-8 years old don't want to be riding the Ferris wheel all day, they want to be riding coasters that they are tall enough to ride. Plus magic mountain has X2, enough said...if you want to find another coaster like X2, you'll have to travel all the way to China to ride some cheap, rough, dilapidated Vekoma replica, and I guarantee it won't have a sound system or fire effects like X2 has. No matter how much more rounded Great Adventure is, Magic Mountain will always be considered the crown jewel of the six flags chain, that's just my opinion.

Great Adventure is truly the crown jewel of Six Flags. Look at the top coaster ratings! Great Adventure has had some of the top rated coasters in the world. How many does Magic Mountain have? NONE! Magic Mountain is quantity over quality and is severely lacking many elements in its coaster collection. Great Adventure is much more well rounded, and looks better. Magic Mountain is a great park, but I'd take Great Adventure all day
Great Six Flags park battle!!! I have to agree that Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Magic Mountain are INDEED the two best Six Flags parks in the US. I had not been to both of them, but I will go to them this summer. My favorite rides at those parks would have to be El Toro and X2. Can't wait for tomorrow's video!!! :)

It really depends, scream is a parking lot coaster with no theme, bizarro has a great theme, fire mist and light effects, and was the worlds first floor-less coaster and is still in my top 10.
How does Six Flags Great Adventure win for appearance? SFMM is a beautiful park. It's nicely landscaped and some of the coasters use the terrain, making them even more thrilling. Six Flags Great Adventure, from the looks of it, looks very flat, and doesn't look great. I'm only giving my honest opinion.
Growing up in NJ, and now living in Orange County, CA - I agree with the winner here, even 5 years after the video was made. Magic Mountain is great for coasters, but that's really about it. The top 3 are unlike anything that Great Adventure has: Twisted Colossus, Tatsu, and X2. That being said, the quality of the Great Adventure coasters really kicks Magic Mountain's ass. Nitro is a top 10 coaster in the world consistently year over year. El Toro is in the top 3 wooden coasters every year, and with good reason. Kingda Ka is the tallest & fastest coaster in the US still. In 2020, adding the Jersey Devil will really kind of cement the quality of Great Adventure over the quantity of rides at Magic Mountain. West Coast Racers is a great ride - but I'd rather have the Jersey Devil - even if they didn't use the T-rex track like they should have.
Great six flags parks but i have not been to magic mountain but i wish i could go there great adventure is about thrill rides and family rides and magic mountian is about coasters so it realy depends on what you like
They don't. All but probably Mean Streak are good coasters. MM has tons of coasters that were built just to have the most, not to be good. Ex: Green Lantern
Both parks have rides completely different from each other. But, out of all the coasters, I would say revolution takes corkscrew and I'm not sure about the others. No park has so many good rides in one park like CF and MM. Can't compare them because they're so different. Like X2, Maverick, Goliath, Millennium, ect... Tatsu, ridlers revenge, and X2 are the only things they can counter CP with. But it so sad CP is on an island and they're out of space, dive coaster next year and hopefully a flying one day that tops Tatsu, or even a 4th Dimensional coaster.
don't get me wrong, I love these, but SFGA also has slingshot, daredevil dive, and twister, but you only counted sky screamer for an extra thrill ride. Also some may consider the go carts as a thrill ride. But these park battles are great, you should do a tournament or something
Been to both parks. Had a much better time at Great Adventure. Maybe next time I'll try and go to Magic Mountain in the summer when all the rides are actually open. Just because the park is open year round doesn't mean the rides are. Had to miss out on Scream, Revolution, and Green Lantern because they were either closed or operating slowly.
I totally agree with this. Great Adventure just defeats Magic Mountain in everything except for number of coasters. The coaster collection is better, it is more well rounded, and the park just looks nicer. Magic Mountain's coaster collection lacks so many elements. Twisted Colossus will be really the only ride with airtime in the park. And also, El Diablo and Twister should have been counted as two more thrilling flat rides.
I respect your opinion but honestly I really do think SFMM should have took this one. SFGA is still a great park though, anyways still an enjoyable video as usual!
I really wish SFGA had kept Rolling Thunder and given it the RMC treatment. It was a racing coaster, like Colossus, and I wish it could have gotten the same continuous two-track makeover that Colossus has. I really feel like if they'd kept Rolling Thunder around another year or two, long enough for the success of the RMC makeovers to become apparent, SFGA would still have a 70s-era wooden coaster. Instead, they ripped down a great old coaster to make room for a queue for Zumanjaro, of all things. I don't miss any of the other coasters that have left SFGA (Lightning Loops, Shockwave, Ultra Twister, Great American Scream Machine), but I do miss Rolling Thunder.
Evolution Artwork it's definitely the roughest coaster at Magic Mountain, but to me it's fun. Ghostrider at Knott's is unbearably rough in my opinion though.
I also must say that Tatsu also beats Superman because every time I go to Six Flags Great America to ride it, it breaks down like after an hour of waiting, it breaks down a lot at Great America. If not, also at Great Adventure and Over Georgia >_< Although I'm going to Six Flags Over Georgia this summer, I'll check it out.
Dang, it is good to live in the westest of the west because it is good weather, but I can't go to any parks like Cedar Point and Great Adventure. I REALLY want to go to those parks, because if it's better than SFMM, then it must be pretty good.
SFMM park appearance is spectacular as you drive around the hill and see the monster of a ride X2. SFMM is a overall a coaster fanatic's paradise. Btw. You might want to check up on Scream vs Bizzaro. Redid the paint which will make it smoother than before.
Magic mountain is better because has WAY better roller coasters, sfga only has more family rides but why you need family rides on a six flags park? Six flags it's for teens and adults if you want family rides go to disneyland or disneyworld, not six flags. sfga only has 3 cool coasters, nitro kingda ka and of course el toro, the other roller coasters are shit compared with magic mountain

Maybe SFGA is able to run 2 or 3 trains when its open, because they are able to give maintenance to their trains during the winter season while the park is closed. While magic mountain has to do it with the park opened year round. So at times there is only one or two trains running at a time. at least thats what i think.
Fwiw, Gold Rushher used to be absolutely beautiful in its terrain, and its signature drop used to swoop right over the surface of a picturesque lake. However, the tearing out of the Log Jammer to put in Full Throttle meant the lake was removed and most of the Gold Rusher terrain was disrupted. I was very sad the last time I rode GR to see that still looong after Full Throttle had been installed they still hadn't bothered to fix Gold Rusher's terrain and now it looks to me as if it's running through an abandoned construction site. :-((((
This can go anyway, it just depends on what you prefer, Quantity or Quality, Great Adventure has better quality than Magic Mountain, Magic Mountain has more coasters than Great Adventure, Magic Mountain focuses on the Roller Coasters way too much, Great Adventure keeps it balanced. Thats why Great Adventure won this fight.
Great video! Small suggestion though: I think if two great coasters are compared, while one park should obviously take the 2 or 3 points, depending on how good the other ride is, it should be given a small number of points like 1 or 2, just so a good coaster doesn't get completely ignored in the score. For example, if you are comparing leviathan with fury, and fury wins, the score for Canada's wonderland will be a lot lower than with a great coaster semi factored in.
I may be a little biased here but last time I checked, theme parks were made more for adults and teens. I wouldn't bring my 5 year old to any theme park so Magic Mountain should have won. They have so many roller coasters too!
I prefer Magic Mountain because X2 is so unique and Tatsu kicks superman out of the sky. It also has an arrow looper and I know everyone hates them but I do not I miss the scream machine a lot and I was so mad when they got rid of it. Also I like Twisted Colossus. Though this could also be because I do SFGadv literally every week its open sometimes more than once per week and occasionally 3 times a week so by now it's like a trip to the mall for me it's so familiar that it's like my house
Yes!!! It is about time that someone agrees that SFGA is better!!! In my opinion, Magic Mountain is INCREDIBLY overrated, and SFGA, Cedar Point, & maybe even Canada's Wonderland wills beat this park.

Canada's wonderland isn't actually that good of a park. It has good theming and some really good rides, but overall it's really not good enough to beat sfmm

With West Coast Racers, Crazanity, Battle for Metropolis, and Twisted Colossus in the park, Magic Mountain has really stepped up their lineup, fixed areas up, and is definitely superior IMO. Great Adventure has been going downhill with their operations, but are adding what seems to be a solid addition this year.
@Christian Horvaht I have been to Great Adventure. I have been to most theme parks in North America. :) And saying it is close to Phili further supports my comment. It might be because I have been to so many theme parks that makes Great Adventure not as appealing. Example, Kingda Ka is a rougher, not as comfortable or intense version of Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. Bizarro is a decent floorless coaster, but Medusa (in California) is miles better. Nitro is a B&M hyper, and the airtime is floater. El Toro is the parks standout attraction, along with Jersey Devil later this year. Personally, I would rather go to Magic Mountain any day over Great Adventure. Have you been to Magic Mountain?

Agreed, SFMM does have a better coaster lineup. Great Adventure though does have the safari, and that is what breaks the tie for me.

Let me just start off by saying I've been to both of these parks. And I understand that Great Adventure has more family rides and stuff and is overall a more rounded park, but last time I checked Magic Mountain has the most kid Coasters, and last time I checked most kids 5-8 years old don't want to be riding the Ferris wheel all day, they want to be riding coasters that they are tall enough to ride. Plus magic mountain has X2, enough said...if you want to find another coaster like X2, you'll have to travel all the way to China to ride some cheap, rough, dilapidated Vekoma replica, and I guarantee it won't have a sound system or fire effects like X2 has. No matter how much more rounded Great Adventure is, Magic Mountain will always be considered the crown jewel of the six flags chain, that's just my opinion.
Or you could go to Fiesta Texas and ride Batman: The Ride... Just sayin'

The 4D coaster in China is S&S and is not a cheap version of X2. It's considered better, and cost the same,mid not more, as X2.
Great Adventure is truly the crown jewel of Six Flags. Look at the top coaster ratings! Great Adventure has had some of the top rated coasters in the world. How many does Magic Mountain have? NONE! Magic Mountain is quantity over quality and is severely lacking many elements in its coaster collection. Great Adventure is much more well rounded, and looks better. Magic Mountain is a great park, but I'd take Great Adventure all day

Great Six Flags park battle!!! I have to agree that Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Magic Mountain are INDEED the two best Six Flags parks in the US. I had not been to both of them, but I will go to them this summer. My favorite rides at those parks would have to be El Toro and X2. Can't wait for tomorrow's video!!! :)

It really depends, scream is a parking lot coaster with no theme, bizarro has a great theme, fire mist and light effects, and was the worlds first floor-less coaster and is still in my top 10.

How does Six Flags Great Adventure win for appearance? SFMM is a beautiful park. It's nicely landscaped and some of the coasters use the terrain, making them even more thrilling. Six Flags Great Adventure, from the looks of it, looks very flat, and doesn't look great. I'm only giving my honest opinion.

Growing up in NJ, and now living in Orange County, CA - I agree with the winner here, even 5 years after the video was made. Magic Mountain is great for coasters, but that's really about it. The top 3 are unlike anything that Great Adventure has: Twisted Colossus, Tatsu, and X2. That being said, the quality of the Great Adventure coasters really kicks Magic Mountain's ass. Nitro is a top 10 coaster in the world consistently year over year. El Toro is in the top 3 wooden coasters every year, and with good reason. Kingda Ka is the tallest & fastest coaster in the US still. In 2020, adding the Jersey Devil will really kind of cement the quality of Great Adventure over the quantity of rides at Magic Mountain. West Coast Racers is a great ride - but I'd rather have the Jersey Devil - even if they didn't use the T-rex track like they should have.

But, out of all the coasters, I would say revolution takes corkscrew and I'm not sure about the others.
No park has so many good rides in one park like CF and MM.
Can't compare them because they're so different.
Like X2, Maverick, Goliath, Millennium, ect... Tatsu, ridlers revenge, and X2 are the only things they can counter CP with.
But it so sad CP is on an island and they're out of space, dive coaster next year and hopefully a flying one day that tops Tatsu, or even a 4th Dimensional coaster.

don't get me wrong, I love these, but SFGA also has slingshot, daredevil dive, and twister, but you only counted sky screamer for an extra thrill ride. Also some may consider the go carts as a thrill ride. But these park battles are great, you should do a tournament or something
Been to both parks. Had a much better time at Great Adventure. Maybe next time I'll try and go to Magic Mountain in the summer when all the rides are actually open. Just because the park is open year round doesn't mean the rides are. Had to miss out on Scream, Revolution, and Green Lantern because they were either closed or operating slowly.

I totally agree with this. Great Adventure just defeats Magic Mountain in everything except for number of coasters. The coaster collection is better, it is more well rounded, and the park just looks nicer. Magic Mountain's coaster collection lacks so many elements. Twisted Colossus will be really the only ride with airtime in the park. And also, El Diablo and Twister should have been counted as two more thrilling flat rides.
I respect your opinion but honestly I really do think SFMM should have took this one. SFGA is still a great park though, anyways still an enjoyable video as usual!

I really wish SFGA had kept Rolling Thunder and given it the RMC treatment. It was a racing coaster, like Colossus, and I wish it could have gotten the same continuous two-track makeover that Colossus has. I really feel like if they'd kept Rolling Thunder around another year or two, long enough for the success of the RMC makeovers to become apparent, SFGA would still have a 70s-era wooden coaster. Instead, they ripped down a great old coaster to make room for a queue for Zumanjaro, of all things. I don't miss any of the other coasters that have left SFGA (Lightning Loops, Shockwave, Ultra Twister, Great American Scream Machine), but I do miss Rolling Thunder.
Why wasn't Viper worth 2 points? I'd say it's a high thrill coaster, especially considering the intensity and number of inversions that it has!

Evolution Artwork it's definitely the roughest coaster at Magic Mountain, but to me it's fun. Ghostrider at Knott's is unbearably rough in my opinion though.

I also must say that Tatsu also beats Superman because every time I go to Six Flags Great America to ride it, it breaks down like after an hour of waiting, it breaks down a lot at Great America. If not, also at Great Adventure and Over Georgia >_< Although I'm going to Six Flags Over Georgia this summer, I'll check it out.

Dang, it is good to live in the westest of the west because it is good weather, but I can't go to any parks like Cedar Point and Great Adventure. I REALLY want to go to those parks, because if it's better than SFMM, then it must be pretty good.
SFMM park appearance is spectacular as you drive around the hill and see the monster of a ride X2. SFMM is a overall a coaster fanatic's paradise. Btw. You might want to check up on Scream vs Bizzaro. Redid the paint which will make it smoother than before.
Magic mountain is better because has WAY better roller coasters, sfga only has more family rides but why you need family rides on a six flags park? Six flags it's for teens and adults if you want family rides go to disneyland or disneyworld, not six flags. sfga only has 3 cool coasters, nitro kingda ka and of course el toro, the other roller coasters are shit compared with magic mountain

Maybe SFGA is able to run 2 or 3 trains when its open, because they are able to give maintenance to their trains during the winter season while the park is closed. While magic mountain has to do it with the park opened year round. So at times there is only one or two trains running at a time. at least thats what i think.

Fwiw, Gold Rushher used to be absolutely beautiful in its terrain, and its signature drop used to swoop right over the surface of a picturesque lake. However, the tearing out of the Log Jammer to put in Full Throttle meant the lake was removed and most of the Gold Rusher terrain was disrupted. I was very sad the last time I rode GR to see that still looong after Full Throttle had been installed they still hadn't bothered to fix Gold Rusher's terrain and now it looks to me as if it's running through an abandoned construction site. :-((((

This can go anyway, it just depends on what you prefer, Quantity or Quality, Great Adventure has better quality than Magic Mountain, Magic Mountain has more coasters than Great Adventure, Magic Mountain focuses on the Roller Coasters way too much, Great Adventure keeps it balanced. Thats why Great Adventure won this fight.

Small suggestion though: I think if two great coasters are compared, while one park should obviously take the 2 or 3 points, depending on how good the other ride is, it should be given a small number of points like 1 or 2, just so a good coaster doesn't get completely ignored in the score. For example, if you are comparing leviathan with fury, and fury wins, the score for Canada's wonderland will be a lot lower than with a great coaster semi factored in.

I may be a little biased here but last time I checked, theme parks were made more for adults and teens. I wouldn't bring my 5 year old to any theme park so Magic Mountain should have won. They have so many roller coasters too!

I prefer Magic Mountain because X2 is so unique and Tatsu kicks superman out of the sky. It also has an arrow looper and I know everyone hates them but I do not I miss the scream machine a lot and I was so mad when they got rid of it. Also I like Twisted Colossus. Though this could also be because I do SFGadv literally every week its open sometimes more than once per week and occasionally 3 times a week so by now it's like a trip to the mall for me it's so familiar that it's like my house

Yes!!! It is about time that someone agrees that SFGA is better!!! In my opinion, Magic Mountain is INCREDIBLY overrated, and SFGA, Cedar Point, & maybe even Canada's Wonderland wills beat this park.

Canada's wonderland isn't actually that good of a park. It has good theming and some really good rides, but overall it's really not good enough to beat sfmm
