It should count as a title but it shouldnt count in terms of lebrons individual legacy. To me, davis has been the clear best player on the team since he arrived. Despite his flaws, when he is healthy and engaged he is a top 2-3 big man in the league. In the same way that kobe's titles with and without shaq were viewed differently. I don't think you can ever get around celebrity or star status. Any team will look to ride on star power or popularity. And in basketball, Jordan, Kobe, and Lebron will always be big stars and have big attention. So we can criticize the pure basketball choices, but you just have to face it. LA has the most money and they want the big name on their team.

A reminder that while pandering to the gimmicks and quick buck can boost immediate brand value for stakeholders, but will ultimately hurt the brand in the long run due to decreased loyalty from the working class fans, who are the far majority in terms of numbers.

2019- missed playoffs ( playoff mode activated and goes 3-12 down the stretch
2020- Ad arrives they win a fake title. Lebron gets all the credit
2021- this one is my favorite and it never gets talked about. With AD lakers up 2-1. AD goes down and loses 3 straight.
2022- misses playoffs
2023- makes WCF after the bs trades lakers were able to make.
2024-1st round exit.

I miss the Lakers having Lonzo, Ingram, and Kuzma. They had so much more flexibility with drafting whoever because all those guys can play atleast 2 different positions and they blended well together on defense.
The important thing to note is that revenue is a terrible indicator of financial success. It doesnt take into account how much money a team spends to generate that revenue. If you compare net revenue to operating income you will see that the gap in revenue for teams like the lakers and warriors and the rest of the league is much higher than the gap in operating income. Basically they waste a bunchbof money to barely make more than other teams by the end. Most of this is salary and marketing costs. For example if you compare the Lakers and Bulls. The lakers have a revenue of 516 million and operating income of 159m. While the bulls have a revenue of 372m and income of 115m. Which means the lakers. Which means the Lakers spent an extra 100m to make an extra 44m. And that was actually a good ratio. If you look at the numbers its usually much worse for teams with high revenues. The previous year for the lakers they actually made less than the bulls despite spending more.
The Lakers would be better with Steph Curry and Anthony Davis, rather than LeBron and A.D. .
