I may be weird, but I love going to old cemeteries and looking at the head stones and wondering what kind of people they were how they lived, loved etc... it does remind you that life is short.
No you are not weird, only interested in people that have been forgotten for the most part. They are all alive in spirit tho, maybe serving in another life perhaps.
Good episode. Great old pioneer cemetery. Most people back then didn’t live to be very old. Life was hard. I know what you mean Jeff about life and death. That train is on its way and nothing we can do to stop it. I’ll bet you thought that was the Grim ripper behind you but it was just a friendly dog. Try not to think about death and be thankful. Enjoy life.
"Who has the name of Arno Watt?" Jeff, you slay me. You don't come across as an old man and I thank you for that. Just today I realized you are among the best of cemetery explorers. Good to see Sarah helping you find graves and an animal to love.
These cemetery tours are so very interesting. So many of these people have probably nobody who even knows they once existed... It's amazing what they once engraved on the tombstones! Another fascinating, informative video, Jeff and Sarah. No matter how much time has passed, the death of little ones is always extra sad.🙏🏼🧡 The dog was unexpected, but thankfully, so sweet.🐕🤩
A friend of mine in grade school in the 70s would drink his milk and sing IM AN OLD MAN WITH A BIG WHITE MUSTACHE and make me laugh. He said he's going to have a big white mustache when he's old. Sadly, he died from cancer at 20 yrs young.
Jeff thanks again for a wonderful tour of the Copperoplis cemetery. My Dad died at the age of 54 .. I am just a little older then you and have always believed that life was short because I was 17 when he passed.. he wasn’t just my Dad but my best friend!! So everyday since my 54 th birthday I feel like I am on borrowed time! From where? I don’t know. I had my spinal surgery on Dec. 27 and doing pretty good.. it’s a long road though.. You and Sarah have helped keep my mind busy and I look forward to each new episode!! As you know I have seen them all and now watching other channels but honestly nothing compares to what You and Sarah do!! Thanks Again 👍👍
Wow, James, thank you for the very generous comments. We appreciate knowing we are at the top of your UA-cam list! It means a great deal to us and we strive for doing our best because of it. Blessings to you and your recovery.
So often when one seeks knowledge of historical significance, the stories are found in a cemetery. Very interesting & well detailed, regardless of the canine interloper. 😉
Great show Jeff & Sarah! After binge watching all your 164 videos over the past few weeks, I now look forward to your Sunday additions to your library. Thank you for sharing your research and experiences for us to enjoy.
Sarah looked like she was freezing and you with pushed up sleeves remind me of me and my husband. I am always cold and he never is, I loved this visit. Pioneer graves are always interesting to me. Their stories are never dull or boring.
Jeff - i love exploring cemeteries, it really connects history right. I remember one up on a small hill near Ione in Calaveras County. Just saw an “Odd Fellows Cemetery” on the map in Sutter Creek, whoa ha! Also if you ever come down to Anaheim, check out the old cemetery on North Street - all the German founders and several civil war veterans and great headstones. Appreciate all you do! 🙏🏼
I truly enjoy your videos thank you. My dad pass last February. He is now laid to rest in the Oakdale cemetery next to my mom's mom and dad. My dad's mother is buried in copperopolis. My mom and dad were both born in 1952. My mother's father worked on train number 3 and Sonora. My father used to tell me all kinds of stories of Lake Tulloch. And he also worked at a restaurant I believe in Oakdale called brawlies. My mom's aunt and uncle had a ranch in lockeford. In closing, my ancestry on my dad's mother's side links me to Gen. Robert Edward Lee and Martha Washington. Thank you again, and God bless
Thank you History Hunters! So many small gold rush towns and so many interesting stories! I enjoy getting to know what California and our country was like in the early days.😊
Thanks to you both! These historical cemetery outings never cease to amaze me....so very interesting. Jeff, I appreciate your respect for life....death...a part of our exsistence that is yet to be understood. Yes, I agree, it is good to stop and reflect on our limited time here.In hopes it makes us spiritualy aware, better kind people. Take care and see you on the next one!
Jeff, I am going to be 65 this year. Am considered elderly. I don’t feel that old. I remember in high school thinking 30 was so old! Sarah has a way with animals. She could’ve been a veterinarian. Thank you to both of you for this amazing history!
It doesn't look too cold the way you are dressed but Sarah is really bundled up. Interest story on Gohrman and McCarty. Good to Sarah got her dose of animals in! I learned very young how precious life is. I do love the rock wall around this cemetery. Thanks for giving us a tour of all the graves.
Thanks for watching! I just did the exercise bike while watching your new one today. I’ll go back and comment. Sarah does tend to get much colder than me. I do run in the cold so maybe that’s the difference. 😀
Great Sequel Jeff and Sarah. Great point about thinking of the next chapters in life, Jeff. Turned 62 last October and as a gift from my employer, they fired me. Lots of time to think of the next chapter in life, so I'm using my GI bill and getting a BS in History:)
Love Your Beloved, I Love Your stuff, I Just Want to thank you.. keep em coming, I can still remember the stories of my elders of the history. I just turned 50, and you are so, so rite life Is shorter than we all think.
Love hearing the history of these brave people. Such a tough life, coming over to settle on a wagon train. Using dynamite was an interesting suicide tool, terrible for the person/s who had to pick up the 'bits' !
When ever I hear Calaveras County mentioned I always think of the Mark Twain story...the Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County....another fantastic video and what a beautiful area .
Very good follow on from the last Really enjoyed the walk through of the History of Copperopolis Thankyou Jeff and Sarah (who found another critter) much enjoyed
Another interesting video Jeff. I love to see the old dates and info on some of these pioneers. I too agree with you Jeff, I'm 79 so I think of what I have left, however, I am enjoying it. And I love the dog visit. Sarah at her best with the animals. I would be loving on him too.
Jeff, I laughed out loud when that patriotic puppy snuck up behind you. :) Very strange and interesting connection to Arno Watt. RIP. Anyway, very interesting wrap-up to your Copperopolis video from last week. Thanks for all the hard work!!
Hearing how people lived and died in the 1800s and early 1900s is always interesting. So many things could go wrong and end a life far too early. Tough living back then. The swinging lanterns in the logo are nice!
I love your show. Jeff is funny and the fact that Sarah is almost an unwilling participant is hilarious. I have been doing similar outings since the mid 90s. I prefer the most remote graveyards ie Old Denny and White City. Fourteen miles in and out. No roads. This was the most difficult outing. No stones found but the only flat spot for miles was the giveaway. The map put it there as well. Extremely remote. Foundations and hydraulic mine equipment found
Another very nice video. It's great that you take so much time and effort to feature the people that have passed into history a bit of their stories. The people are the backbone of history.
I spent alot of time in Coppers when I was a kid, my friends grandmother lived up there arround B A property we did alot of fishing for bass, crappie, perch. Would walk the tailing piles in town behind the store to one of the copper mines ther where brick smelter plumes one had fallen over at the open pit mine. We also hunted for clear quartz crystals some where green also. It was great roaming the land free up in Coppers. Thanks for the post.
Great show! The way that sweet dog was wagging his tail and body and not staring at you with his head down is how you can tell he would never bite you. Pit bulls are very sweet dogs if you can find well bred one. A great dog for Sarah! Yes life is too short, my grandma always said and she died at 70. My grandfather smoked himself to death at 52.
Another fascinating tour. I appreciate it as always. I live in Cambria, California and we have two old cemeteries here from the 1800s. It's amazing to see graves where the people were born in the late 18th century in Ireland, Scotland and Switzerland and ended up in this small village on the Central Coast. Walking through the cemetery does remind me that my time is limited and I need to make each day, hour and minute count.
Thanks Michael. Life was short back then but our lives really are short today. I had a classmate who was murdered at age 13, which really was sobering to me.
Thank you so much H H for inviting us to your most interesting tours 🌷🌸 Just found you and did the exploration of Volcano 🌋 Now will move on to your next discovery 💡 You make it so much fun 🌿🌞💫
Thank you Jeff and Sarah for the interesting walkthrough of the cemetery. Hopefully you didn't have a too much of a r u f f day. Love the dog, Sarah is an animal person so that was fun for you and her both. Thanks again had fun watching it.
Ooo I've been waiting for this! I drive past Copperopolis several times a year on my way to or through Yosemite. And never realized that there was a cemetery. Also thank you for the Groveland video
Love the name of the own and the county. Yes, we don't know the hour or day we'll be called home. The little pittie shouldn't be running loose but glad you knew where he came from.
Great video Jeff and Sarah. I wanted to mention I have seen that poem starting with "Stop now Traveler and cast an Eye....." in graveyards throughout the west. I sure would like to know the source, but thus far have not been able to dig it up.
Good afternoon y'all. Loved watching this, & Yes I too realize how quickly age progresses.... tomorrow is never guaranteed, so we should all live the best, kindest lives possible, so as to leave a positive legacy.

It would un nerve me too for a dog to come up behind you like that. Especially in a cemetery. Loved the video and story.
Yes, " The Hound of the Baskervilles" or could I say The Hound of Copperopolis, LOL!
That’s not just a dog but a pit bull, very unpredictable, but that one was quite friendly and mischievous!
So often when one seeks knowledge of historical significance, the stories are found in a cemetery. Very interesting & well detailed, regardless of the canine interloper. 😉
Seeing that canine interloper taking that American flag had me laughing.
You know I’m watching when I see HistoryHunters!
I was cold. I had my hood on because the breeze was the worst. 🧊
Jeff - i love exploring cemeteries, it really connects history right. I remember one up on a small hill near Ione in Calaveras County. Another great video. In my 70's now and as with you and cemeteries, realizing more and more that "all we are is dust in the wind".
That song always depressed me as a kid but it’s true.
Good stuff Jeff. Thanks for the shout! Another great video
Another great video - love the cemetery searches, and learning the history behind those buried there.

I enjoy hearing people's stories, too. I wish cemeteries could provide more information about those that have been here and gone before us.
Thanks. Each life has a story. Unfortunately we don't know most of their stories.

Thanks for the memories. I used to pan for gold up around those parts (not the cemetery).
A suggestion for the month of February. Consider doing a video on the former Town, now State Park, of Allensworth California.
