◼️ Many people tell me that the Therapeutic Gardens projects we do are very innovative and innovative. But here I will show you how that seed has been many centuries since hospitals urged attached gardens for therapeutic purposes.
◼️ Discover the first gardens in hospitals and how they arose in response to the need to provide a healing environment for patients.
◼️ One of the first spaces known as a healing garden It was the Temple of Asclepius in Epidaurus, built in the 6th century BC. Throughout the Middle Ages, monastic hospices with large gardens were typical.
◼️ At the end of the 19th century, sanatoriums were born to cure tuberculosis and beds with wheels that allow patients to be moved near gardens and porches so that they could get sun and fresh air. In the following decades, the priorities in the construction of hospitals changed; there was the industrial revolution and two world wars. Gardens became less common in hospitals as buildings focused on reducing the risk of infection and serving as functionally efficient settings for new medical technology were created. Hospitals were beginning to be replaced by monobloc buildings, seeking to be as efficient as possible and being at the service of science and technology. Park areas were replaced by vehicle parking lots. And these buildings have been considered as stressful and inadequate for the needs of patients, companions and staff.
◼️ There have been different theories and architectural approaches that have influenced the design of hospital gardens throughout the centuries.
◼️ I have spent years exploring emblematic examples of gardens in hospitals around the world and how they have positively impacted the health of patients and the truth is that the changes are incredible.

Siempre he creído que la naturaleza, cura. Ahora, cómo puedo hacer si está todo el espacio ocupado por cemento?
