Have you considered flipping the chain to the inside of the tensioner? With the chain on the inside of the tensioner wheel you cover more of the teeth on your gear and the chain gets pushed into the gear. The way its currently set up pulls the chain away from the gear leaving 70% of the teeth untouched.
