"The North is by far the largest of the Seven Kingdoms; it can fit the other six inside it. Not that the others care... cold and damp, that's how the Southerners see the North. But without the cold, a man can't appreciate the fire in his hearth. Without the rain, a man can't appreciate the roof over his head. Let the South have its sun, flowers, and affectations. We Northerners have home." Stay fresh cheese bags 😉
I seriously hate how small they made everything in the show compared to how it should have been. Winterfel is is basically a large walled manor in the show.
I love how in the general theme of the North and it's people and noble houses are like these primal beasts and monsters of a bygone era. Direwolves, bears, gians, flayed men? That's badass

@steffurness that theory is muddled. Some maesters say it was built during the Dawn Age, some suggest twas Brandon. Not sure. Good question. GRRM likes to leave people guessing. Maybe TWOW will have some answers when Oldtown gets sacked by Euron we'll find out.
Why the Starks didn't get rid of the Boltons centuries or millenia ago is beyond me. Their betrayal of the Starks in the main story wasn't even the first time that they've tried to usurp them in the North after the Starks became the Kings of Winter. Forgiving them once I can see and accept under the right circumstances, but come on. They were clearly not trustworthy.
@@JeremyIceAndFire33 Even Roose Bolton told Robb that the high ground was nice but he would have a hard time marching his army down it. Roose Bolton was loyal in the beginning but as Robb ignored his advice and started losing the war, Roose thought it was best to do what would save him and his people.
The same thing can be said about the Ironborn. They should've been wiped out millennia ago. But somehow, they're still here doing the same exact thing they've always been doing.
See the thing is that the Boltons were formidable. They were busy with all kinds of sorcery and then there was the flaying and the skin cloaks and also the dreadfort wasn't made of sticks neither
so sad the starks marriage into the targaryen family never worked out can you fucking imagine stark dragon riders or if they have a kid thats a warg and can literally warg into his dragon god damn i hate that this was never a thing

Starks and Targaryeans are by far the most interesting and lore heavy houses in the ASOIAF universe. Baratheon is fun too but not nearly as interesting as the other 2 houses
@spursgog835 Ned Stark has a tomb in the Winterfell crypts but whether his actual body is inside isn't 100% clear. After Ned died his bones were sent to his wife Cat. But when Cat dies at the red wedding it's not clear if she still had his remains or if they were already sent to Winterfell. Robb also has a tomb in the crypts but I don't think his body is there. After Robb was killed they cut his head off & sowed his Wolf's head onto his body in its place. What happened to his remains after that is unclear.
You haven't read the books I see cause this is actually about the deepest dive you'll ever find on House Stark anywhere, this covers just about all of the information that's available on them, George RR Martin hasn't detailed the Stark history like he has the Targaryen's. The Info in this video is pretty much everything we know about House Stark.
I'm assuming you haven't read the books cause then you'd know there's still so much history on the Starks & the north that hasn't been written by GRRM yet. The Starks have been around for far longer than 2000 years actually, but practically none of that history has been recorded yet. This is just about all of the information available on House Stark.
How is it bean the builder built a wall with the help of giants and the children people to keep the white walkers out but Ned stark don’t believe in white walkers or giants ????
In the history of ice and fire when you look at the stark lineage.. Eddard and his siblings are lowkey incest babies because his father rickard marries one of his cousins (Lyrra stark) . Or am I trippin
Technically yes they are, as are alot of other house in Westeros. While they didn't go full on Targaryen & marry brother to sister, alot of prominent houses would often marry cousin to cousin.
awww we didn't talk about how they went to the invading 7 star religion people's how land and destroyed it completely and then made sure there beaches stayed red with blood and decapitated heads during the invasion
In modern Game of Thrones times? No, not if they struck his name from history. You have to remember this was thousands of years before Game of Thrones. And being Lord Commander of the Nights Watch isn't exactly a famous position that's known throughout westeros, especially back then when it was 7 completely separate kingdoms.
@@JeremyIceAndFire33 I think far more clues point to this than R+L=J. Pretty much every person who meets Jon compares him to Ned. Some even call it before Jon even tells them his name. Hes got nothing in common with Lyanna or Rhaegar. But the part of this theory that I love the most is the idea of Jon being eligible to wield Dawn and become the new Sword Of The Morning. That would be the best possible twist imo.

Its not that Ned Stark doesn't believe in them, he just doesn't believe they've returned. He thinks they're extinct.
