I wish he stayed vigilante Deku. I liked them better than typical charasmatic superman-like hero's (like All Might or Seasons 1-2 Deku) cause they endure more not just from the dark forces they fight but even from the people they protect. And being a vigilante means theyre most likely working alone or in very few numbers with no help from the law or the people around so its like its them against the world as a whole just to do the right thing.
@@sir_beatdown1015 I can understand that, but it would be way too emotionally draining tbh. The boy wasn't handling well underneath all that pressure and he wasn't making much of a difference in the long-term. People nowadays tend to like their characters, depressed ,torn down, and edgy because it's relatable, but in the long-term it just wouldn't fit well in the over-arching narrative of being a hero in boku no hero academia. Superman is more than charismatic--he is human. I understand that vigilante deku is "cool" but being a hero isn't really about looking JUST cool ya know; emotional availability is important as well. Vigilantes tend to work in solitude and I think people tend to romanticize that a lot. All heroes suffer by the hands of villains and the public- Spiderman, Superman, Batman, the X-men, etc. Heroes fight for people selflessly, anti-heroes tend to fight for people selfishly.
@@jestapath7373 I do see your point but vigilantes and antiheros arent the same, though they do tend to work together depending on the character (Punisher, Red Hood, etc.) And sadly in MHA, looking cool was all that mattered to heroes, both pro and students, and throughout the series it became more clear what the job truly entailed and the consequences and heartache it brings. Hero society was extremely flawed in that regard cause when things really got bad, the heroes struggled like they didnt know what to do when they focused more on tabloids and interviews. It shows how much the world really needed people like All Might and Deku I like vigilantes more cause they are more willing to sacrifice themselves for what they believe is right. To them it doesnt matter what the public thinks of them as long as what they did saved a life even if it means having to make a tough decision that made them look like a monster. But to be honest I find the "I must do this alone. So none of you suffer because of me." Trope very cliche when he left but I think it was executed well enough to overlook that. That's my view on it at least but I believe your right that it wouldn't fit with the show if he stayed that way.
Not Ren bullying my GOAT at the beginning... 😭😭😭 It's fine, tho. He's come a LONG way since then. He's earned every tear he sheds now... and he still won't hesitate to fold somebody. And Divide captured that perfectly in his song. It feels sad and melancholy and yet so triumphant at the same time.
But then again take a look at his earlier years from the age of about 5 to about 15 he was bullied and abused by his peers pretty much every single freaking day of his life, hell it seems like not even the teachers did anything about it so honestly I'm surprised if Deku isn't battling depression also look at who his mom is those eyes are 100% hereditary on his mom's side
@@josephcirrincone9596 absolutely agree. Heck even with the last episode of the latest season, you can see he's still battling his emotions, he's just gotten "better" at concealing them. Sadly, as we've seen, not necessarily in the healthiest way. (Trying to fight everything by himself to the literal point of passing out and shutting out everyone out even if just to save them suffering 😭)
The only nitpick i have with this song is the “draaaag me under” part is jussstt a little too quiet. I feel like since its the hook plus the name drop of the song it should be a bit louder in the mix. Other than that its another perfect divide hit
Honestly I don't blame Ren. Although in my case, I don't like characters that remind me of myself...in a bad way. I don't like characters that are doormats, too nice, etc. They rub me the wrong way because I am non-confrontational and tend to be nice. I also don't trust anyone who is too nice. 😅
I’m sorry but I agree with her. He does start off as a cry baby. I also loath the whole scenario for how he gets one for all. It is my BIGGEST pet peeve of the show.
