My Minimalist Bedroom

- The word "minimalist" has become quite synonymous with high quality, expensive design materials, furniture, and fashion, especially when it comes to home decor and interior design. I thought it would be cool to show you guys that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a nicely designed room. All it takes is a little bit of effort to search around and find the right items for you.
The philosophy of minimalism has been implemented in my room because not only do I own less items, but I also have set it up in a way that maximizes efficiency and allows a deeper sense of calm when I am in here.
I hope you can all learn something from seeing the way I have my low budget, minimalist room set up. Cheers!

thanks God finally there's budget friendly minimalism
Minimalism means?
no such things as high budget minimalism 😋👌
@@permanahadiwijaya5757 minimalism means
@@permanahadiwijaya5757 All the mainstream minimalist dudes would say otherwise. They have like 5 grand worth of apple products 🤣🤣
@@zachrat9083 5 grand worth of selective chairs they love so much lol. Couldn't agree more.
The problem i have with a matress directly on the floor is the moisture build up on the bottom. Ya might wanna lay it on some pallets or mold could eventually build up
I was just thinking this. I have respect for those who are capable of doing this, but if I do this with how much moisture we have I will be asking for mold! In fact, here's a stranger (me) encouraging those who may feel guilty about having a bed frame as furniture/ those looking to replace a RETIRED frame, to purchase a USED bed frame from an online marketplace. Reasons, why a frame is necessary for someone(s), are numerous. A few examples, like my elders, can't bend their knees that low to the floor, you may have back problems, there is excess moisture or there is unwanted critters around, etc. Of course, the prices will range extremely based on quality/brand/delivery method, but a little extra research and patience truly pays off. For example, I recently just found a very STURDY, 2+ years old, originally $500 dollar bed frame for $150 total--including shipping--and I split it with my partner, so it was affordable for us. Someone else's trash was our treasure. This message is for whoever you are who feels you need to throw everything out/simply omit when moving, without considering your own needs. Much love, SG
I sleep with mattress on floor ... no mold so far
@@someoneelse5581 yup ! Just dont be nasty and all should be fine
I did not know this
This is very valid concern. Japanese ppl sleep on a tatami mat below their futon beds for this very reason; it helps the bed "breathe" since air can flow under the bed.
Thanks for showing us that a minimalist space doesn't always have to look ready for an Architectural Digest photoshoot, which is all I've been seeing from YT "minimalism gurus."
Amen
this is probably the most genuine “minimalist” video i seen, every other video waste so much money on material things to achieve the “minimal” aesthetic it’s almost contradicting
facts
I like un-fancy people and I think the whole place is more authentic than most of the minimalist videos I’ve seen. Great job!
First thing that drew me was the beautiful chair. I thought, this guy has good taste. Then he said it's hideous!! 😂
I agree. The chair is awesome!
love the "minimalist cat" lol
Bedframes are necessary so bugs can't easily get on your bed, no bed bugs! And mold can happen a lot faster
I like how you bought the furniture second hand but it still fits well together. Nice video!
The chair is awesome!
Finally, a realistic minimalist room!
I actually think the chair has character, unique and beautiful in its own way.
Chair is possibly the one and only thing that deserves to stay.
That chair is amazing, not ugly at all!
I can tell you aren't a minimalist.
I really like the nightstand and the wall plant-shelves brought some inspiration to what I might want to do above my bed as well. The blue colors also go really well with the wood flooring/accent aesthetic.
that chair is a statement chair and i love it
finally something i can relate to
Your chair looks great!
Diggin the blues on the walls. And BLINK! I'm ready it tight now ❤️
Yeah I was definitely not a huge fan at first but they’ve grown on me haha. Such a great read.
Relatable video in the closet, its okay to wear back the shirts as long as its not sweaty or smelly, i did the same too... so far i love your whole video!
Love the wall color!!!!! My fave
I love the wall color. Thank you for this! Now I have an idea for my renovation
I too would like to see the books closer. I actually like the chair lol. Very vintage. Great video as always. Have a great week!
It’s now on the list of videos to make! The chair is definitely vintage and so it’s nice in that regard, but what I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t match the overall aesthetic I’m going for in my room haha. Thank you, you too!
Cute, peaceful , simple and don’t forget those walls are AWESOME
What a very beautiful nightstand
That chair at your desk feels like a stone in my shoes
I found infos that I find useful in the section about the closet thank you Jonathan
love the chair!!
Oh my that chair is sooo beautiful 😱😱😱
I love the coloured doors and windows ❤️
Great video, something that I was searching for a long time 😀
I WANT TO HAVE ORIGINALITY ..... BUT THIS ROOM SO PERFECT FOR ME💖💖💖💖
Love the chair haha
I LOVE it
Thanks for sharing man.
I use memory foam on my floor as a bed and it’s the most comfortable bed I’ve ever had lol
When you opened the door, I said, "I love the chair. Best thing in the room."
I was like, hmm that foliage out of his window sort of looks like Portland, then said to myself, the world is huge, this cold literally be anywhere. And then boom, you pull out the NE Portland Bike/Walk map. I'm shook.
🙏
Perfect
I love second hand things
Ha. I love the chair.
Love your kitty
Me: oh what a beautiful chair it looks so old ... love it...
Jonathan: I hate this chair, ugliest chair ever, looks like something your grandma gave you ..
Me: ºoº
I like your room 😊
Om: on the desk 😎😎
2:05 Man, what is that music I'm hearing in background. I think it is a piece of art.
Thank you for sharing
Do you take out all electronics and mini lights and use blackout curtains for optimal sleep?
well, i see we have same arrangements of shirts...... all the plain clean colours..... according to my experience it's efficient in both daily use & weekend laundry....
Excellent video
thanks!
I want that chair for my academia theme bedroom... 🤣
I would like you to show us your book collection 😁 Nice video as always
Thanks for your support! I will definitely put that one on the list of videos to make. :)
@@JonathanYentch really? I like Uniqlo. You got a link to that exact shirt model?
Where is your comforter from? I love how simple it is with no extra stitching.
From ikea! Has a duvet cover
ngl i love the chair i thought it was international
My problem with mattress on the floor is bugs, specially house centipedes 🤢🤮, that show up in my apartment occasionally. Also, being middle aged and getting up can be a task.
hi jonathan :)
love the shelves! we’re those second hand? would love to purchase.
Thk u sir
Nice
I like the idea of hanging it back on a hanger instead of just throwing it in a chair
where do you get your t-shirts from?
Even I do the same with regard to washing of T Shirts
The minimalist cat looks expensive to me 🤔
The chair is really beautifu tho..
🙋🏽♀️Great info 👍🏽, but I’m not feeling the double T-shirt thing son🥴
I like this but for me I would’ve got a bed frame. Because being minimal doesn’t mean being cheap
if you want you could sell your apple products and buy something cheaper and probably better, you could also sell your peripherals and replace them with way cheaper ones that still work
I never use bedframes. Place looks so much bigger n neater without them..
Um... i think the chair is the best part
There’s a difference between empty and minimalist and a difference between budget and broke but other that that man nice room
I do have a bed frame because I have a woman's body and from time to time getting up off the floor is an absolute no. XD
Finally someone who has the same amount of stuff as I do. I just have less plants and a few more books. I do have a tv and ps5 but I'm a gamer so :/
You have more clothes, bags, and shoes than me... :/ I'm not buying more but dang.
this is what is actually a minimalist bedroom
which series of your Macbook ? 2016 or 2017
Id need a bed frame. Bad hips and knees
like for the cat
with my second acc
I always look for super low profile bed frame anywya
you have a-lot of items wow
What about the mattress ventilation?
I haven’t actually had any problems with mold or anything else associated with mattress ventilation (yet at least) so hopefully that good luck continues or else I’ll have to figure out an alternative! Also sleeping with the mattress directly on the floor can potentially be better for your back and circulation. Couldn’t say if I’ve noticed a difference in that regards either, but something to consider. Thanks for the comment!
@@JonathanYentch minimalist temporary solution. flip it sideways when not in use
qyuu that’s a great idea!
What brand shirt are you wearing brother?
emmanuelibus Uniqlo!
@@JonathanYentch really? I like Uniqlo. You got a link on that shirt model?
The chair is not hideous, maybe just something look antique I guess
I know different people have different point of view on things
Just doesn't suit as that is all
Maybe try use another word that is more suitable
I do like the colour used on your wall btw, not so saturated. Nice job on that
@Arkan Sauce Nah, I find it really cool and interesting actually!
I think that chair is awesome! Looks like a beautiful antique!💝
I've been wondering where and how did they even keep their clothes if there is no cabinets or a closet i their room
A dresser
06:00 what is west elm and why is there a ॐ (our holy symbol) symbol there? And how can I get same?
I loved the chair, only don't liked he didn't
2:09
I tend to get more things I want to get done, done, by sleeping on a wooden floor in an empty bedroom.
Are the plants real?
Video starts at 2:00 minutes
🙄🙄🙄
2:40 such a cutie
now im going to Get friends who have Extra Mattress ,desks and cupboard Instead of earning muself
Putting the mattress on the floor makes the room look childish you can buy a simple Wooden frame it will still look good
hes cute
Waiiiit so the chair was in the storage room and you took it? That doesn’t make it free that makes it stealing but I digress
two minutes of intro👎boring👎--Correction: this was a mean comment, now i make good of it. Introduction is important for knowing👍doing something as a opposed to nothin' is never boring👍.
ouch
@@JonathanYentch I have to retract my statement Mr. Yentch because your feed back says it wounded and that's always a bad move-my bad. i'm in love with that blue accent color but i'd love it more if it wasn't everywhere
Great video, but bro, you seem down about something...
Minimalist cat
lol, most guys minimalism after their first divorce
‘True minimalist’ means sleeping on the floor? This is untrue. Being a minimalist invites peace and tranquillity, not bugs.
bugs make great minimalist pets
Jonathan Yentch thats true
Your comment is pretty ignorant. true minimalism is living "intentionally" in the sense of being aware of what you truly need vs what is just mindless consumerism. Only buying things that bring you joy while purging things that you could do without (which for most ppl ends up really helping with peace and simplicity) is the core of minimalism. BUT what brings one person joy doesn't necessarily have to be the same as others. Just bc you personally find joy from a bed frame, doesn't mean everyone does- for him it is unneccesary- don't judge. I myself have a bunch of books bc reading (and just looking at a nice bookshelf) brings me joy, but on the other hand I have very few clothes bc I don't really care about clothing/fashion. Doesn't mean i'm not minimalist.
@@sangeethai I was told minimalism means living with less and getting rid of waste in order to invite peace and tranquillity by friends who live this way. I was commenting on the video’s content and the use of ‘true minimalist’ sleeping on just a mattress. Not having a bed frame isn’t the line between minimalist and non-minimalist. Also, mattress companies will warn that putting mattresses on the floor invites: dust, bugs and mold. That doesn’t sound like these things would bring joy ... and a ‘true minimalist’ with a bed frame is no less a ‘true minimalist’.
@@prettybyte6513 "A ‘true minimalist’ with a bed frame is no less a ‘true minimalist’"- that's exactly my point- no one can tell anyone else how to be a "true minimalist"- having no bed frame is equally as valid as having a bed frame. maybe i misunderstood you, my point is: its not for you or him or anyone else to judge whether or not someone is a "real" minimalist based on the type or number of things they have- minimalism is a state of mind, and can't necessarily be determined based on one's possessions alone. Whether or not you have a bed frame doesn't determine whether you're minimalist or not...
having a pet is not good idea for a minimalist , I am just saying 😅 , thanks for your video .
Clutter everywhere, way too many clothes, desk facing the window, terrible paint color, everything wrong. Red thumb.
The minimalist ideology is severely flawed as the point is to not be materialistically dependent, while requiring a high budget to maintain that aesthetic. In my opinion, Minimalism should therefore only be considered purely as an aesthetic rather than an ideology.
