FYI, Eddie van Halen isn't Chinese-Malaysian, rather Indonesian/Chinese-Indonesian (can't find specific information on internet) from Rangkasbitung, Banten, Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia).

There is actually a lot of mixed dutch people,in indonesia especially in jakarta people that are mix doesn't look dutch/white/caucasian, maybe because the people you're seeing now is its 2nd or 3rd generation so its already mixed up

I may be wrong by my supposition but whenever I look at someone like Keanu Reeves, Neyo, Naomi Campbell, Tyger Woods, and Nicki Minaj to name just a few I always assumed or at least wondered if they had some Asian in them because of their eyes. Usually, Asian genes are very dominant when it comes to the eyes no matter what other races they mix with, at least in my opinion.

Dean Cain (Tanaka), Jen Tilly (Chan), and Chloe Benet (Wang) all previously had Asian surnames from their father's side, before changing it, or in Chloe's case using a stage name.
I did not know a lot of these people had Asian descent in them. It was mindblowing!!

Asad Rachman I read the link. According to it Māori are also Austronesian. I'm Māori from New Zealand. We do not consider ourselves to be Asian. We consider ourselves to be Polynesian. I am aware of research linking us to Taiwan but I bet if you asked any Māori if we were Asian, 100% would say no. As more research is done maybe that will change. Anyway, Austronesia isn't even a word that comes from our part of the world it comes from some German dude.

No, I know quite a few people who are half Chinese and look fully Chinese, my best friend included. I also know a couple more who are blonde or look exactly like their white parents, my best friend's little sister included. While the Asian phenotype may not be as dominant, but to say that a child who is part Asian will never look fully Asian isn't accurate, and it's a little ignorant honestly. It varies

I have a legitimate question. Does the quarter and one eight matter in America when it comes to ethnicity? I'm not from the states and where I'm from (the Caribbean) it's not really recognized that you're mixed unless if you actually look mixed race you're either black, Indian white etc. So generally would people who may be mixed but look more like one particular ethnicity be consideeed anything else but what they look like?

Awesome list. But question. I noticed you listed The Rock with his Samoan ethnicity on here. Myself being half Samoan half Tongan born in New Zealand which is in the Pacific. It's true that Samoa it's in the nesian group of Polynesia, my question is, is it generally regarded where ever it is OTGW is made, that Micronesia, Melanesia and Polynesia are considered to be Asian? Was surprised and now curious to see how we were viewed.
Most individuals who are half Asian are attractive, especially if they inherit the eyes because the eyes are exotic to beauty standards outside of Asia. That is why it is sad when Asians hate their ethnic features, wanting to change them. You are beautiful the way you are.

For the longest time my husband couldn't wrap his head around the fact that if I got around any of the groups of people I just named off I could blend right in, and not look like some wierdo outsider. Well other than the European side of my family, due to the fact that I'm probably the only redheaded and olive skinned person you'll ever meet in a lifetime.

yes there is a lot of internalized racism that exist for some who come from a mixed race heritage. The same is also true for monoracial poc as well.
Hollywood actors/actresses represent a small population of people who come from a mixed race heritage. Additionally the experiences of those who are multi-racial are not liner or binary so it's not up to you or anyone to project or tell anyone how they should identify. It is up to the individual for them to decide and no one else.

there are many academic articles and research about asian and asian american communties. although the topic of mixed raced asian americans is still fairly new within academics relating to asian americans it would be productive for one to inform oneself before making offhanded assumptions. especially since you to do speak as a person who comes from a mixed race asian background.

Okay, sometimes I theorize why some people look more Asian or White or whatever when it comes to them being mixed. I'm no geneticist but, it always depends on who the person is. Or who the parent is of the child that is a different race.
Mom's who are Asian, sometimes their child is more with more Asian traits than white. (My best friend's mom is from Shanghai and her dad is Dutch-American.) But when the father is Asian, and the mom is white or another race, the child isn't really supporting many Asian traits.
Like I said, it's not always the case!

@@ernestoguerra9204 The Origins of Native Americans came from Siberia, which is Asia. The origins of the Australian Aboriginies was in South Asia. Both are not considered Asian today. The same applies for Pacific Islanders.
@@avilik13 I know right? This logic is stupid. You put a Filipino or Indonesian next to either a Samoan or Tongan, you could easily tell the difference between the two. Africa and Europe literally connects with Asia by land, yet they are not Asian and neither of them claim Asia to be theirs.
