Once you have removed your stencil, place your item/s on a foil lined baking pan and put into a cold oven. Turn on the oven to 175 and let it preheat. Once the preheat timer goes off I then turn off the oven and let it sit in the oven for 30 minutes. This will set the paint and it won't peel off.
These are so pretty and so homemade. That makes it even better. Yours turned out nice with the craft paint. Now I will start my search for supplies to follow your great tutorial. Love all of your tutorials. You are the best!
Love this tutorial Maymay and I am going to try this but with a Christmas theme. My understanding is that if you prime your surface, glass, paper, canvas, wood with either Clear Gesso or White Gesso your paint will hold. Hope that helps for future projects. Take care.
Hi made these for a wedding I glued different size hearts on with PVA glue and then sprayed them with Valspar white (UK so you may not have this) its a matt spray suitable for glass metal . Added burlap round the rim to cover the screw top and used battery lights all different shapes and size looked amazing when lit everyone thought I had bought them. Am now making a set for a 50 wedding anniversary with 50 on each and spraying in gold large ones will be for flowers and small for T lights.
They are truly adorable I have everything I need to make these except the paint off to Walmart I go thanks so much for teaching us such wonderful things to make are homes so pretty !!!
These are so gorgeous! I'm so excited.....(as if I wasn't already) about Fall now! It's my favorite season and I love decorating for it!! And yay!! Cooler weather toooooo! Have a wonderful day...and thanks for taking this request! This is easy and fun....my favorite kind of project! Hugs! Becca
I absolutely love this! I keep clear contact paper on hand. I probably have for at least 30 years. It comes in handy for soooo many things. I’m also glad that you ‘share’ your mistakes....well not mistakes, but maybe didn’t go exactly like you had planned. We need to know these things. I heard a crafter refer to ‘mistakes’ as happy accidents, years ago. Sometimes that causes us to become even more creative, right? Question: Do you think if you had used spray paint instead of chalk paint, that you could have peeled the leaf off easier? I know this is long, but one more comment... I love the popcorn filler! So Fall, harvest, and accents the golden warmth and feel. 👍😊🍁
I just followed your instructions to make 3 of these jar candles. I have two different brands of the chalk paint...Waverly (as you used) and Americana Decor Chalk Finish, cutting the leaf design on contact paper using my Cameo. I tried both brands of the paint and the Americana worked much better for me, releasing the contact paper cleanly and with a better coverage overall. Love these! Thanks for the inspiration!
Cute! Another idea to use in place of the popcorn is the sunflower bird food. Or you could probably use bird seed. I am doing center pieces for a party and used the black oiled sunflower seeds. They looked really cute and it was cheap. Then afterwards the birds will get a treat.
I made some similar to that using acrylic paints and I had trouble getting the paint to stick on so I went ahead and used spray paint primer let that dry and then painted them with acrylic paints and it worked !
I love these and plan to make them as well. Maymay, on the Facebook group Cricut Pros and Newbies, they talk about what paint worked and didn't they tried instead of vinyl. Try to find that and tag you in that. Also, love the star garland!! My daughter is so in the rustic and primitive decor and we make a lot of what she decorates with. Great video and thank you for sharing. Great job they turned out awesome!!
2019!! So glad this was in my recommended.. Love how you do it step by step. And that you talk about alternatives as I have nothing fancy like you talked about... Very cute
i love how you actually show each step.. and explain so much! can actually learn so much better than those videos that will be like "so just trace and cut out" then cuts to next scene and im like "how?" lol loving ur vids!
This is a really cool project!! And I think I can do this!! And at first I thought you were going to fill it with popcorn but then the candle on top is brilliant!
So very cute, now I know what I can do with my old Duke mayo jars. They are a little shorter and little rounder, but I think they will still be pretty done like this.
I made some wide mouth pints to set on my desk and think these look great too. I talso thought about glass paint it is translucent and would also show the light as a glow. I love these colors as fall is one of my favorites...dee
Love those. They give such a cozy look. Just what I like at fall. I was wondering whatyou thought of using salt and pepper shakers for sparkling powders? What do you think?
What a wonderful idea...thanks for sharing...I've already made five with homemade chalk paint...and I made one with a small leaf stencil on the back as well...really cute effect:-) love your videos..all the best from Copenhagen, Denmark 🇩🇰
Will be doing this with my residents for our craft sale! Thanks for shaing and I'm looking forward to meeting you next April at "Made-a-con" in Alabama. Blessings! Tammy
Just found the rustic stars at Hobby Lobby on Friday! They are in the Christmas section. Also in the fall section they had lots of raffia and raffia bows with buttons on them.
Valarie, I know this is old but it would really help me. Do you take the stencil off before you put the wax on it. Help would be very much appreciated, thanks!
Lovely!!! I would have gotten aggravated and stopped I think. I must work on that. If something starts making me anxious I just walk away, at least for a while.
Have you ever made your own chalk paint like you are using on these jars? I made some with acrylic paint and it peeled off the jar when I try to put the second coat on even a day later when it was dry.... So I'm thinking if I used enamel maybe it would stick....
I enjoyed this tutorial so very much, You have such a nice and easy way to teach this beautiful craft! I love these. Thank you so much and I am to try these for sure. I am now subscribed to your channel. Big Greetings from West Tennessee!

Thanks so much love your accent and yours mason jars came out amazing love love them!!! See you next time!!❤🙋
Can I ask why the vinyl or the contact paper works better than double sided adhesive paper? I just tried making one using Scor Tape adhesive sheets and Martha Stewart chalk paint, and let it dry for the full 24 hours based on the directions on the label and there was so much gummy tacky stuff left over on the glass from the adhesive after I peeled off my leaf, I couldn't get it to come off I tried using Goo Gone and a Q-Tip to eliminate it and it didn't work at all.
You put in oven with chalk paint?
Yes. I also cure my mason jars painted with chalk paint in the oven. I can wash them and the paint does not budge.
Good idea and there's the modpodge dishwasher i think that works kind of the same as that too
I love this. Great leaf idea thanks Mary
We dont Celebrate fall here in the uk but i always get excited about decorations my house in autumn
Best Mason jar craft tutorial I've ever watched! I'm inspired now. Thanks so much! 🍁

I just love how the mason jars came out. I'm definitely making me some and my sisters and mom. Thanks so much for sharing. I love your work! 😊
I am going to try this but using a glass etching cream behind the leaf. So cute!
You can spray them with a matte topcoat so they don’t chip. I had the same problem when I painted a glass jar for a project. It worked great
These are so stinking cute!!! I want some!! Thanks for sharing!! Blessings!
They turned out beautiful. :) I love how you added the tea lights and candle. Great job!!

+MsDanaGerous Yep, I have even seen folks use beans and rice, so many things work well for these. Thanks for your tip!
Love your stencil tip to prevent underflow! Thank you!
POP CORN WITH A LIT CANDLE....HMMMMM LOL!!! I LOVE THIS CRAFT! I AM GOING TO TRY THIS!

You could brush on a clear wax specifically for chalk paint, or spray a Matte sealer and that will protect it.
Love the brown one, it is my favorite.
great project!! I add it to to my list of "things to do". really warm resault!!
Oh Amy these are so stinking cute xxxx love them xxx
These would look so nice in a Thanksgiving tablescape. I'm going to try these!

hi. I did the jars but waited over night to remove my stencil and it worked great!
Love 'em!!! I knew you could do it!!!!! Beautiful job!!!
you might want to give them a good coat of modgepodge so that the paint doesn't scratch off, and they are adorable, great job
This is a really cool project!! And I think I can do this!! And at first I thought you were going to fill it with popcorn but then the candle on top is brilliant!

Just found the rustic stars at Hobby Lobby on Friday! They are in the Christmas section. Also in the fall section they had lots of raffia and raffia bows with buttons on them.
I would love to try this!!
I can't wait to try this!
If you seal it with wax, it won't peal off. I think the chalk paint gives it more of the rustic/vintage look. I love this so much!
Valarie, I know this is old but it would really help me. Do you take the stencil off before you put the wax on it. Help would be very much appreciated, thanks!
Very pretty. Thank you for sharing, Happy Holidays!
You can use the wax paint from Folk Art to seal your pint so it doesn't flake off.
Lovely!!! I would have gotten aggravated and stopped I think. I must work on that. If something starts making me anxious I just walk away, at least for a while.

Thank you for the explanation about the paint. I wasn't sure about that and have always felt to embarrassed to ask.
Cute idea!
Really cute project!
