How to cold finish

  • How I create a cold finish watercolour and white patina effect on my ceramic sculptures.
    I use quality acrylics in primary colours, watered down. I layer the colours and sponge off areas.
    The final colour is an all over whitewash. This is then sprayed with water to create the dripping white patina effect.
    once dried, I apply brown wax polish. I decided to add some gold acrylic highlights afterwards (not shown in video) which catched the sunlight nicely. I then sealed the entire sculpture again in clear beeswax polish.

    With this i might finally be able to create the true colors of the pots i see in my mind, until just now I was filled with such absolute cutting fear and dread towards the unpredictability of the entire glazing process but this might save me yet

    Piece is bisque fired to 1000.C (see description for full details)
