- A staple in South Jersey for decades is screeching to a halt. Life in the fast lane for the ATCO Dragway appears to be no more. the track announced it is abruptly closing but the big question is why? Ryan Hughes reports.
No one better be surprised if Street racing or takeovers in the area increases.
And then they complain about street racing when they pull shit like this. It was a good and safe place for people to enjoy cars and not cause trouble.
So sad the only place us kids had left to go to these days that was actually a good and safe time

a company bought Atco out not sure what the company does. no respect for tradition anymore
This is so bizarre. And now almost into 2024, and STILL no answers. The people deserve some kind of response!
The fact that the owner said no comment and asked the reporters to leave is odd. It tells me that he sold the property to people who are up to no good and doesn't want any heat for it. Expect some eyesore to pop up there soon.
Someone needs to save it its a historic track

I feel your pain I have attended races in Baytown TX for over 30 years and then sold for housing !
That's messed up ive been to Baytown track it was a big track and had big nhra events it was one of a kind I liked the big tower stand all for houses their enough houses not enough strips they wonder why people street race.

Big mistake ,you should have put condos around the complex just like New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Ehh, greed has only part to do with it. Between that, complaints about noise and a lack of infrastructure for racers and fans as time goes on, more and more racetracks are going to die.
I wish the pinelands commission would let Wharton Forest reclaim it (if we're truly serious about the environment like Dems claim)NO MORE DISCUSTING HOUSES!

Sold out. Just like they did in Flemington . Ending decades of dirt track modified racing. This is the corporate America we have to live with while they get rich and us racing fans have to pay the consequences 🙄
