I can connect with the culture and the music. its really a mix of Jews Muslims who are in middle East. I like Orphaned Land a lot. Amazing metal band from Israel. I have a couple of their CDs. 'Sapari' is a really cool song/video, with a good positive message. Plus, although used sparingly they have great death vocals in a lot of their music.

Chtonic are from Taiwan, Sigh are from Japan, they are both bands from exotic countries that got signed because they are good, not because they come from somewhere interesting. It doesn't matter whether you think they are good or not, they are doubtlessly talented. That's why i hate it when someone hears cannibal corpse or hate eternal and they then say 'it's just noise, they are not talented'. It doesn't matter whether you like it or not, intergrating a strange form of music into metal is hard.
Orphaned Land is amazing. Like any other band they have their best tracks, but I haven't heard a single song yet by them that I didn't at least enjoy casually. Many have left me awestruck. And like others have mentioned, their message of unity and peacefulness is deeply inspirational-especially considering they hail from one of the world's most conflict-ridden countries.
