that branch for transformers collecting is very much a mood. not even transformers just, anything at this point. sometimes you see a small little thing with a small little number and you go "ahhh fine this might give me some dopamine" and lo and behold, it gives some dopamine
I prefer the name "Ricochet" for him because all of the Trargetmasters have gun related names, like: Misfire, Sureshot, Triggerhappy, etc, etc. Even Artfire has the word "fire" in his name, like to fire a gun.
Stepper always made me think of Jazz going through a Goth faze and a Midlife Crises at the same time. I mean, I am _too,_ but that's besides the point.
Ha, now you've got me listening to their back catalogue. They often have a horror vibe so now I'm just looking for something more atmospheric than is usual for them.
I've never felt more seen as a collector than in the first 20 seconds of this video. Gavin you truly are the voice of the Transformers community while simultaneously being above us all. Thank you king.
The version of this I bought called the big toy Ricochet and the small one Nightstick _but_ I already _had_ a Nightstick with my Classics version of Cyclonus, so some names had to be moved around. The big toy returned to his original Stepper (which sounds like someone Jazz could get along with) while the small one became Ricochet. Makes sense on my shelves if nowhere else. The Jazz mould, in terms of transformation, always felt like a trial run for the better Bluestreak mould, but I cannot deny those looks in either mode are cool.
I actually still have the Commemorative Edition Ricochet and Nightstick as well as Jazz, and yes, fun figures. The added port for vehicle weapons looks like a great addition.
One of my fave G1 lads. Grabbed one a year or so ago and have had zero regrets. It is funny that the original Stepper toy commanded ridiculous prices in the early days but once they did this re-release the prices tanked cos it turned out only a few guys with way too much money wanted one.
I always like the character of Jazz, and the G1 toy looked great. Now, if they do a really good, detailed Masterpiece that doesn't try to be too cartoony . . . .
@originaluddite Nah, you're not alone, mate. There are others like us out there. Early Masterpieces: Rivets, seams, textures, hidden real-world-accurate vehicle details, mechanical and electronic features like lights, moving pistons, working shock absorbers, die-cast metal, rubber tyres, somewhat complicated transformation to preserve realistic vehicle accuracy. Later Masterpieces: Flat, boring, all-plastic except for some hinge-pins, weird distorted vehicle modes for some, ridiculously complicated transformation in order to get cartoon-"accurate" robots.
Nebulon the Nebulon. They were cooking in the office that day.
Yeah, meth.
Or pot brownies.
In Japan it's not a nebulon but from planet Master :P
I mean... there are men named Manny.

one of the reasons I got so many hot wheelsesesesessessss

Oh no... Gavin! The gooners! They're gonna see the thumbnail!
Finally
Stepper always made me think of Jazz going through a Goth faze and a Midlife Crises at the same time. I mean, I am _too,_ but that's besides the point.
There needs to be more goth soul to listen to alongside all the goth rock.
Now I wanna hear a goth version of Faith no More's Midlife Crisis 😂

At the end there, I thought Repugnus was about to sing Tarzan Boy.
G1 Jazz was one of my most prized childhood possessions! Stepper looks even cooler than Jazz, somehow! The audacity!
Looks like Hasbro Stepped up their game with this one.
Sometimes the best transformers are the weird and whacky glup shitto repaints. I know it's my favorite genre of figure
0:30 HARDHEAD SPOTTED I REPEAT- HARDHEAD SPOTTED

Is Stepper some sort of music term? Like Jazz?
MAN I hope that MPG Jazz rumor is true, I need an official MP Ricochet
"Modern toys take note."
... and then, Gavin chose violence...

Another classic episode!
That beginning specification really rolls off the tongue and I should use it some more myself.
Ah, "gold" that looks like GOLD. Thunderblast seethes.
That black paint orange flames deco reminds me of a hot wheels car I had as a kid. Very nice.

Stepper/Ricochet's color scheme is always good on any toy, even if the toy's not great
Oh I'm a sucker for a G1 re-release, I'll have to track one down
Picked this guy up from a local (60 dollars was a bit much)
Still waiting for a gen selects of this guy with the 86 mold. Surprised we haven't gotten that yet.
mmm now I want a Mars bar.
God a genuine jump scare at my name being called out.
If you're gonna buy yourself something, then I should buy myself something.
I got ricochet united and he's so good for an exclusive just because I love that mold.
Very fancy
not to be 'that guy', but 0:14 is begging to be made into a t-shirt
I see shiny gold thing, i like!
Hope you're having a good day
That's a pretty figure

Oh good, I'm not the only one who thinks cartoon accuracy is a misstep.

And even less fancy lines benefit from a more flexible design and aesthetic. A phrase I'm pushing is "box art accurate". :)
I don't know how cheap it was but I'm jealous regardless
Anyone else have a stroke every time he says Stepper and not Ricochet?
Probably not, they're called Stepper!
I pretty much have ever version of SS86 Jazz and yet I'd still buy Stepper😣
Calling a car hood a "bonnet" lol
Black, red and gold?! Am I blind or is the red missing 😂
It's in the flame decals.
@Beedo_Sookcool well now I feel stupid 😂
@@DDYTEDDY To be fair, there's a LOT of glare from his gold.
Ricochet is just a better name.
More pep.
Stepper is more idiosyncratic and is therefore cooler
