Cheers Legends!
I have it in my prado, mostly because it fits perfectly with a 900mm kings drawer in width. It is great. The only annoying thing is that when i leave turned off, the water that is trapped in the fridge grows mold, while smaller cooler with the door on top can be kept open when not used.
Thanks for the info!
Its a good fridge i got mine when they first came out, been running 24/7 havent had any issues
I got mine for $599 maybe 6 weeks ago and it's been running great so far. Really enjoying it.
Definitely uses a bit more power but I don't really notice it with my 12v set up.
I have had to defrost my freezer once in that 6 week period which isn't that big of a deal
Yeah wow, what temp did you have it on?
@@BuiltCruisers if I put it on zero I find that stuff starts to freeze with my one so I run it on 1 deg :) hopefully they hold up for at least the 5 years
Definitely great value, yeah look at getting more room for the side vent, run more efficiently, thanks for sharing buddy
No problem 👍
Good vid n review mate. Yeah, I think they are a bargain atm EOFY specials are $549 + freight, that’s pretty good for a 85ltr fridge. They are pretty much a dead copy of the Bushman for a much lower price & 5yr warranty. TFS. Cheers
Mine uses very little power. Weather has been cold though Summer will test it
I prefer the brass monkey ones which has magic hinges that just open from either side, which is awesome in an rv/camper situation.
Hey mate, everyone boxes in their fridges and don’t allow them to breathe. Do yourself a favour, create more space for the heat to escape and you will find it will hold temp better and also reduce power consumption.
I have one in the back of my swb patrol can’t fault it haven’t had any dramas also run there 120ah lithium tucked in behind the fridge
As for warranty there normally really good had a dodgey wireless remote with there winch took it to the store they took a video of it no working next week had a new one sent out
If your after a really good fridge door organiser look up PM canvas on onstage they make one to suit the kings it makes it heaps better for extra storage ect on the front of the door and suits the fridge unlike other universal fit one
cheers!
110 litre King's is better coz you can stack full of West End and meat , got proper size freezer too can get chickens or steak in it. Was $799 on special, has slightly higher draw than the 85 litre which is no problem for 300 watt panel and lithium ion battery
hey mate, awesome vid, literally i just built the tilt fridge slide last week following your other video and then now i just sold my dometic cff45 and about to get this upright from kings as well. i'm just curious if you have some real life stats on how much power it uses? i'm just worried that it'll use more than 70ah or something for sitting there running for 48 hours, wanna see if i need to be worried about my 100ah lithium setup
Great to hear!
Hi Mate. Do you know how many amps it draws per day? Thanks
What solar setup do you have?
At the time of thay video. 110w solar
How long does it last without running the car
cause of the solar, forever
bro I love ur vids but can u please get a lav mic. the audio could use some improvement
Working on it! Cheers
I also have one in the back of my Prado but honestly it rattles like crazy from the compressor area. Just driving along normal qld roads not even offroad. Has anyone else had this issue? I've taken it back and they bench "tested" it with no fault found. No surprise there since it's stationary 🙄
Love the upright fridge layout and it works so well for us but my car is pretty quiet inside and the fridge noise completely drives us nuts!
I did a bit of research and found the secop offer a HD version of the compressor that's built for handling vibration with less noise from the compressor but it seems that not even the expensive Bushmans fridge uses that🤷♀️
Sad to here!
My suspension isn't the greatest and mine doesn't rattle around off road. Did you get an earlier model of the fridge?
@@BuiltCruisers Fridge is current and car is 22 model. We pulled all the trays out to test that theory. It's worse when it's running as I think the refrigerant is pumping around so there's less in the motor housing maybe. Off road it's not as noticeable but driving on road it can just be relentless. I took it back and of course their testing is stationary on the bench which is useless. I'm going to have to sell it. It works fine but it ruins the nice new Prado driving experience. A Bushman's fridge owner had their car on display at the recent 4x4 show and I asked him if it takes and he said it's the first time he'd driven the car with it in and he heard it. Makes sense as it's the same compressor. He reckons he was going to fix it somehow.
Inside of these hermetically sealed compressor units, the motor & compressor sit on a spring suspension system, so the internals of some of these units could be hitting against there outer casings is my guess.
If it is a fairly solid knocking sound there is a chance this is what is happening & of course this does not happen in a stationary situation as you have said, only when mobile. The whole hermetic unit will also have rubber feet also for further noise/vibration suppression, but if the internal motor is hitting against the side of its housing this would make quite a noise.
I was wondering about the the pro’s & con’s of having the compressor up high on these fridges, and this is definitely a Con, along with a higher weight distribution, but at least they are fairly light overall. I didn’t like the idea of having a compressor up high in a 4x4 canopy fridge for this reason, but I am still thinking about getting one myself as a convenient fit, so this is just my thoughts.
I reckon ur probably one of the unlucky ones to get a unit that does this & most are probably fine, generally speaking. I would suggest to tell them to give you another one to try or ur money back, & then buy &/or try another, if it does it again, get ur money back again and try something else. Hope this helps.
@@evil17 Kings was a dead end. I would have gladly tried another if that was offered. I ended up selling it to a guy that put it in his canopy so I didn't feel bad about passing it on for a reasonable price. It wont bother him as it worked perfectly aside from the noise. Back to my trusty Dometic 45L chest fridge. Uses way less power on the upside so I can always keep it running even though my 2nd battery is just a 50Ah lithium under the seat. If the opportunity arises in the future I might try a dometic upright as the layout is superior compared to a chest fridge IMO.
@@glenpedley6542 sorry to hear that Kings didn’t help & you had a bad experience, I hear their customer service is not good. The uprights do look nice, but yeah they draw more current too. I would have bought it for my canopy too, for a reasonable price. Cheers
BUT, the most important question is ...... does it keep ice cream proper frozen 😁
Aha, honestly needs to be on 2c or 0c to do that
@@BuiltCruisersBut it does? Asking for the kids 😂😂
@@1Coolbanana yes!
Lol they offer warranty but getting the warranty is another whole idea.
yeah fair, will wait and see I guess aha
Id imagine it would still be less painful than parting with $1600 :)
These fridges are $469 atm.
not worth more than 3 days camping
Has anyone seen the 110 L version of this
