I have the MKIII in the 'To Do' pile, this might inspire me to get a wiggle on and get it underway, thanks! It does look good in the box, pretty fine tooling and a pretty good, not over-the-top parts count, got to be better than the very old Airfix offering (that one must be as old as me!).

very interesting video! I was only saying a couple of days ago, that manufacturers like to re tool kits that I have as original old tool/vintage versions, and I'm sitting here with a previously built, then stripped and restored, old tool airfix Mk. III waiting to be fully finished, another old tool airfix Mk III in the box with a huge P/E set, that I bought to get a decal set for the restored one (later release finally came with two options!) and an old matchbox Halifax B Mk I/II GR II in a revell box.
I think you're onto something here!

I built the mk1 about 18 months ago. It’s a great kit and great detail, I can't understand why they stopped selling it

No idea! Maybe it's a smaller market than we think 🤔 But there's so many decal options and variants available. That's why I think Airfix will go for it. I brought the publish date of this video forward just incase the Halifax is Airfix's big surprise tomorrow haha.

      @The_Male_Modeller we can live in hope...I just think it'll be a re-release, a 1.24 typhoon/ hellcat ot a 1.72 liberator J

@garyhunt4032 I stand by my video. My money is on a new Halifax for 2025. I think tomorrow is either going to be a 1/72 Tigercat like they've been hinting on Instagram for AGES and like last years Me410 release is another twin engined surprise. I know most seem to be hoping for a 1/48 Jaguar and maybe they'll listen

These look like really nice kits, it's a shame they're not readily available at the moment. The ones that are for sale are about double the price of a Revell Lancaster!

@The_Male_Modeller Lysander and a rebox helicopter, 1.48, unfortunately not my scale, Lysander looks nice, but not for me...

I wouldn't be surprised if Airfix released a new tool Halifax, it seems like an opportune time to do so with the Revell kits not being available for some time.
I suppose the Halifax can be compared with the B24 Liberator that Airfix have recently released in that the Halifax kind of exists in the shadow of the Lancaster just like the B24 does with the B17.

Am I right in thinking that the Revell Bi kit has all the bits needed to make a Bv? Specifically for the variant undercarriage...
IIRC, the sprues include both Messier and Dowty undercarriage legs.
The only thing missing for most early variants to be built was the alternative Tollerton nose - as I say, if memory serves

Hoping the Airfix release today is a Halifax. The Revell one has some accuracy issues, mainly around the engine nacelle shape.

I know it's not the best Halifax, but I do love the Halifax ii / v with Merlin engines, card shaped fins and perspex nose.
But I am exceedingly biased as my Dad got his DFM as a mid-upper on them

I built the Mk III a few years ago and I enjoyed it a lot, and had a result I am very happy with.
BUT, the Mk 1 was a huge stuff up by Revell: the engine nacelles are very much oversized and the wrong shape. This isn't just rivet counting, put the model next to a photo of the real thing and it's really obvious the Halifax's Merlins were in tapered nacelles with a small pointy spinner and neat radiator intakes, and what Revell give you looks like a transplant from a Merlin Beaufighter or something: (even if you do as lovely a job as you certainly have on yours).
Given we waited so long for a modern tooling, it really was poor. Aftermarket manufacturers brought out props and intakes, but that just highlighted how bad the shape of the nacelles was! The MkIII has none of these issues. The Mk 1 has been hard to buy for years now: I do not know why this happens (see also: Italeri A/B-26 Invader and Hasegawa Martin Marauder) because I am sure Revell are not embarrassed by making a poor kit!
So, yes, there is definitely room for Airfix to re-tool this and I really hope they do the Mk 1, and that it does not cost a day's wages. Thank you for the video.

Revell made several mistakes on BOTH Mk. I/II and Mk III toolings that should Airfix do a new toolong the mistakes will NOT be repeated. I am a big fan oc the HP Halifax..
