Elvis respected his band and back up singers like no other. Just so you know Whitney Houstons mom was a back up singer for him. She was one of the original back up singers.
Elvis was always limber. He had a black belt in karate which he did regularly. He also never drank. His drugs were prescribed because he had a lot of medical issues. A twisted colon, high blood pressure, and glaucoma to name a few.
Elvis and his drummer, Ronnie Tutt played off of each other. The faster Elvis moved, the faster Ronnie drummed. All of Elvis's band members played close attention to him at all times because through his dance moves, a backward look or a movement of his arm(s) or leg(s) they'd know when to coordinate their instrument playing to Elvis. They all said that they never knew what to expect from his next & that was 1/2 the fun of being on stage with him. Basically, Elvis was the producer & conductor of all of his concerts.

Since the beginning he moved and danced to the songs, sometimes so much, that people felt offended and censured him on TV.
BACKGROUND INFO for the SONG: Written by Mark James in '68, it is based on one night when James was fooling around on his guitar & came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James' wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Suggestion: best not to keep talking over his singing -- Elvis was always doing something different -- his performances were never the same -- he never did the same thing 2ce, never repeated himself. He would make a joke, change some lyrics. You did talk over him when he said to the girls "where you going." It's really better if you can pick up on every little thing that he said -- he could be very funny.
