That's unfortunate to hear... For once I'm actually having fun with a modern pokemon game let alone a 3D pokemon game. Is it perfect? Hell no. But fun it is and I find myself being quite invested which is great. Hopefully the series continues taking this route and polishes it further
I respect Gireum's opinion - but disagree _hard._ I am usually the Pokémon naysayer and Game Freak "hater" (I only even like gen 5 and ORAS, no others) - but I _absolutely love_ this game. Yes, it's not perfect, nothing is - it has its downsides, everything does. But when I think of what I wanted Pokémon to be all along? This game is it. And it's thoughtfully designed to boot, and in many areas surprisingly lovingly crafted. I mean it... I _love_ this game.
Had a lot of fun with the game up until I completed it. "Big but shallow puddle" kinda says it all & it certainly is a step in the right direction. There's nothing more than catch the pokemon, look at the pokemon. If your a PokeDex junkie and a shiny hunter this games for you. If your a team builder that wants to work your way through a battle system/hop online to battle strangers, sorry no can do.
Exactly!! I only play Pokémon to build my “perfect” team and battle with either Elite 4 or other strangers. As soon as I build the team I want, I don’t even bother catching other Pokémons. There’s literally not a single challenging battle in the entire game.
They'll probably bring back the Trainer/Gym System, it at least beat my expectations of having no trainer battles but I expected it to be all about the Pokemon hunting given what the trailers advertised.
@CyborgJiro I had a thought that maybe they instead of remakes that they could make a new region that compliments the Regional Pokedex of the first 2 games of the generation, and one that is maybe less story based and more free-flowing. While Legends games are great in concept to flesh out lore, I think implementing both story and openness to the mainline can be fantastic.

I really am liking the game a lot and plan to do a review soon. But I really respect that you always give your honest opinion about a game, there is no such thing as a wrong opinion. I left a like because I like how you give your raw opinion about something. Surely people wont just dislike the video because they disagree with your opinion right....
Exactly. I'm personally enjoying it quite a bit but I can totally see Gireum's point of view on this. For now at least the game is definitely something that isn't quite for everyone and it's understandable to have a """negative opinion""" cause of it
Some things I want them to use and others I don't. I like the open world and being able to throw Pokemon balls. And keep strong Pokemon in that are hostile. But the Pokedex I didn't like.
I'm enjoying it thus far but god, I want them to KEEP GOING with the ideas this game started. I sincerely hope that they don't just give up on the idea wholesale. It's not that the ideas are bad, it's that they needed more time to bake. And if they can't realize this I'll be severely upset
Sadly, I doubt it'll keep going. The pokemon community is just a toxic cesspool focused on being angry all the time with unconstructive criticisms nowadays. They'll just review bomb the game for not being a triple A masterpiece and complain about anything the stays the same or even change slightly. It's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. If there's anyone to blame, its the hivemind of haters that always want to complain on Twitter about never being satisfied and how they can't get that nostalgic rush.

@@zjzr08 unconstructive: focusing on the smallest of details only to drop them when they get fixed (e.g. characters' facial expressions, Pokémon sizes, battle system, difficulty settings) and finding new ones to nitpick about (e.g. NPC's). The Pokémon fanbase has become so jaded and toxic that people lost sight of what a game is supposed to be: enjoyed. Instead people find it more satisfying destroying a game and throwing sh*t at Game Freak. If you're no longer in target and/or no longer enjoy the games, why bother ? Why don't you play games you actually like ? Chances are that these people have such high standards that no game meets their expectations. Besides, ridiculous demands such as "a Pokémon game with ALL regions, ALL gyms, OPEN WORLD, with NO ORDER, ALL Pokémon who roams with their VERY OWN personality, and they follow you like REAL animals" aren't constructive at all, just fever dreams.
@@francescoghigo8394 I mean there were a LOT of issues in addition to those that those fixes are still not enough IMO (although as I said, I try not to compare this to the other mainline games). The concepts ARE THERE, it's just not put all the way or to a level that IMO is at least not jarring). I applaud all the adjustments you said, but it feels like half-step forward than full step, some of which seems to be easy fixes (like the character movements; to tell the truth the character expression still look a bit off with sudden transitions from one expression to the next). And come on, while I do agree it is too much to ask for all regions for one game, I don't think the issues Gireum said was too much to add on if they were given a year or two more to develop (although the long tutorial feel is a choice that is there, regardless of the polish).

My problem with the new games are they are exactly what you said to me: great starting points. If everything they make are always starting points, when do they actually improve on their new styles? Yes yes, there are great systems in place in this game but the world looks very gamecube era to me. Just feels rushed, especially considering that Breath of the Wild is older and still looks SOOOO much better than this. It just feels like Gamefreak is just putting in 50% effort all the time these days. I'm starting to think they just don't know how to make graphics with the team members they have? Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

they really need to give the next one double the budget and development time. i just want a polished and really good pokemon game i can come back to many times and enjoy, i dont care if its 4 or 5 years between the releases of those games
Yeah, and later into the game there's this spiritist girl who gives you a stone statue that helps you find a new ghost-like collectable, which is kinda similar to finding korok seeds. Finding Unowns in unique landmarks is pretty cool too.

@@Zakharon Gotta Catch ‘em all was only used in NA for a few years. It was never really used elsewhere. By the time I started watching the anime and playing the card game, it wasn’t even in use anymore. Kinda funny how easily it got stuck in everyone’s heads.
@@Zakharon While catching is a core thing battling is also and I'd argue also is exploration - IMO those 3 aspects are nailed by the best games and I'd argue it's lacking battling and especially exploration IMO.
It is pretty fun. Could look better. I hope they stick with this formula but bring back towns, gyms, elite four and trainer battles and multiplayer and it will be amazing. Also the overworld is okay but it could have better POI and dungeons. Overall it is a solid game. I’dgive it a 7.5-8. Most fun I have had since X and Y
I keep seeing similar comments but then wouldn't that feel mostly like the preexisting games? I don't think people can make up their minds if they want a different or new formula. (Though I've never cared about multiplayer so I'm extremely biased on that front)
@@wombat4583 The Legends formula of mostly captures, more storytelling and the moves being different than the mainline games should be exclusive there, but the streamlining like quick captures (for lesser level Pokemon), live battles (although I think I still prefer the Battle Revolution camera style) and maybe some sidequests could be implemented in the mainlines.

My problem is that they needed to upgrade graphics and how you explore the world,the problem is not that there are gyms and trainer battles etc. it’s the linear path, easy difficulty, and outdated game mechanics. PLA changes many of the mechanics therefore changing the flow of the game drastically. You completely missed my point so there tried to spell it out for you.

I tried. I gave it about 17 hours, beat 4 bosses and I just can't go back to it. It's one of the most boring games I've ever played. It's so empty. After the first 3 hours being a barrage of cutscenes I completely stopped caring about the story and sped through all dialogue. The side quests are incredibly pointless for anything other than filling the Pokedex which after 10 hours I stopped caring about as well and just wanted to get to the end of the game. Cool, you can throw pokeballs in real time. I found that to be literally the only thing that was enjoyable when it worked. But I can't go back, too many other games to play. This one was a real let down for me.
This is the first time I’ve ever been invested in a Pokemon story. I think the dialogue is interesting and it’s very cool to see how people and Pokemon coexisted before modern times. There’s some interesting lore and a lot of easter eggs in the dialogue that reference future games. With that in mind, I don’t actually mind the cutscenes. They were way worse in Sun-Moon and Sword-Shield because those games had bad dialogue.
Man, I am surprised this isn't mentioned more. Arceus finally treats its players with respect. and not like a toddler. The dialogue is actually interesting, and isn't treating you like a baby that just opened its eyes. Actually, you actually are the one teaching people in the world about Pokemon. I think that's super cool.
I also like the setting. I really like the idea of people having to learn to accept Pokemon and starting out fearing them because they can breathe fire, or call down lightning. Its refreshing to see a reasonable reaction to something that could eat you in your sleep.

@@zjzr08 Just like humans and other animals were the same before becoming predators and prey. It's not something that happens overnight, it's evolution during thousands or millions of years. There's a part where they mention that they don't even remember when or why they started believing in their god, they just do because of tradition, just like the real world.
I'm curious if this will be the next Black & White (HATED but retroactively LOVED.) Or the opposite I suppose (LOVED but retroactively HATED). I WILL say this... I wish there was voice acting. Edit: The quality of life improvements like changing the moves at will, choosing when to evolve your Pokemon when they meet certain conditions, etc. Should stick around for future games.
IDK gen 5 graphics will age a lot better than this, but if GameFreak fail to improve on this foundation and decide to not use the quality of life improvements that this game introduces in future games, then I can definitely see this happening.
Kinda both I think people keep ignoring the truth but the games have always changed just never drastically. Its the culmination of all the elements fans grinded there teeth over like over world Pokémon from let's go (yes people bitched super hard ) cuts scenes and horde battles from sun and moon. Deep lore from X and Y( the games over corrected mechanics but lore was deep) QOL from SWSH Honestly if this continues they won't be combating graphics but expanding exploration and more QOL With the dex switching around. It won't be gen 9 but maybe experiment with another Let's Go title
Right til this day I never understood why black and white series got all that hate I think it's one of the best in the series. But I'm enjoying the game and I hope they stick with this formula in the future. I like sneaking around and finding different ways to catch pokemon. And some of the side quests (what I activated so far) like finding all the unknowns and all the scattered spiritombs flames are things I expected from a open world game.

Map and environments are empty and repetitive - may as well have just drawn it on photoshop and laid it out on a random terrain generator... Optimization is poor - draw distances, rendering, frame drops etc. Art direction is horrid and is only worse when added with the above two points. Research is tedious, repetitive and meaningless. Side quests are tedious, repetitive and meaningless. Cutscenes with dialogue had no voice acting, animation or anything that resembled a cutscene - may as well just have cardboard cut-outs moving the mouth up and down. Tutorials are unnecessary and a waste of time. Story is generic and baby preschool time - may as well been written by a high school student. The only reason people are not taking the above points seriously and instead giving this game absurdly high scores is because they like the new combat mechanics and action RPG gameplay style. Just because that makes Pokemon games better doesn't mean it should get high praise, it should still be critiqued fairly. Considering the negatives outweigh the positives, I would still be extremely generous by saying it deserves a 5/10. It's average, plain and simple.
@@dantemitsoyu977 Yeah well when you get used to something so boring you end up just committing to it and tricking your brain into enjoying it. This is especially true if you have no other types of stimuli to hold your attention for longer than an hour, making your brand new shiny toy take the limelight most of the time. You can use the same tactic for study; spend enough time doing it on a regular basis without any other stimuli to distract you and you'll no longer hate doing it or procrastinate.
I don't think the main character is supposed to be Lucas and Dawn. If they were, they would have actually had much more of a reaction to meeting the characters. Plus also the cellphone at the beginning looks too much like a modern cellphone. Nothing that could have existed in the 2006 diamond and pearl universe (BDSM doesn't count) My guess is that the player character is from the real world, which is why you can respond with you "never hearing about Pokemon" in the beginning
the game says you're 15 so either counting DP or Pt the player can either be from 2011 or 2014 so those kind of phones could exist You're second point kind of makes sense as it is a "Space-Time" rift so what's stopping you from coming from another dimension where Pokemon don't exist although then how are you so good at catching pokemon at the start of the game Then again I think there's an appropriate answer to why Lucas/Dawn don't recognise anyone in the past, you see they're not the only one who travelled back in time there's another character(Ingo from Black/White) who also fell from the space-time rift and he doesn't retain his memories from the future so that could very well explain why Lucas/Dawn don't recognise anyone from the future
It's Lucas/Dawn from the future after DPPL/BDSP, so of course they can have a phone. Also, they have amnesia, just like Ingo. Clearly they remember nothing, and they look exactly like Dawn/Lucas. Hmmm....

The main reason why people consider Legend Arceus a great pokemon game since forever its because we got so many bad Pokemon games back to back , and we can all agree it started with around Gen 6 or Gen 7. This game was "ground breaking" for many Pokemon fans cuz you are encourage to explore more , find more pokemons , do the "Gotta catch them all" , do things outside the story to expand more , and even though the graphics look like "wii graphics and outdated", they are still better than what we got for Gen 8 and the remake of BD/SP. In conclusion , is a very enjoyable game if you like exploring and have played games like Zelda Breath of the Wild or Monster Hunter. I personally find it on the right direction for Pokemon games after the fiasco of the last years.

After watching your livestream and this first impressions I think the reason the large bulk of the fanbase disagrees at the moment is because they don’t have nearly the issue you have just clicking through the story. You’ll notice in Sun and moon when it first came out nobody complained about it. Then people started complaining when the replays started. And when everyone replayed it for USUM that’s when people really began to hate the early game for Sun and moon. This just isn’t an issue that most people will have on first playthrough cause usually Pokémon games have a sort of charm in their early hours with nostalgia of starting a Pokémon adventure. At least that’s the impression I get from other streamers. Really that’s what it’s like for anyone who doesn’t replay these games a lot. Another potential reason is that people aren’t looking for polish in their Pokémon games as much as they are looking for a memorable experience which despite its flaws legends is fairly memorable at least stacked up against literally any Pokémon game that isn’t your first. I’d actually be really curious to see you make a video on two different subjects. The first is on what your ideal Pokémon game would be like within the bounds of what you can actually see happening in the near future. So nothing unrealistic but probably helpful like Gamefreak being taken out of the picture or slimming releases down to 1 every 4 years. The other topic I’d be curious to see you cover is why you still play the new Pokémon games beyond any traffic it generates to your channel. What are you still looking for in Pokémon that keeps you buying these games every time and going in relatively spoiler free as opposed to waiting till they come out to see what they are like or skipping multiple major releases to see larger blocks of improvements if you are lucky.
Naw the Pokémon fan base is just notoriously known for accepting mediocrity for a game. Like I fou d the same problems when I got this game. I was like 3 hours in and was wondering when does this game start. When can I explore this vast open road. Oh I gotta do it the way they want me too do it. It isnt just Pokémon fans. A lot of gamers turn their brains off if a Japanese developer makes a game. And if a Dev from US, Canada, Europe etc did these same mistakes yall would be all on their ass. But Japanese devs tend to get a pass and are allowed to turn out trash and call it a product. Folks are just simping for Gamefreak at this point.

The game is basically just the safari zone in big with some story. Shouldn't cost more than $29.99 in my opinion. You really should start to play better games, if you think that's worth your time and money and stop the blind fanboyism for Game Freak.

This game really helps cement why Pokemon can be dangerous.... If this game had a chance of wide range moves (surf, blizzard, etc.) hitting BOTH the pokemon and the trainer, it would make the game feel more intense.
Personally I have legit been enjoying the game a lot so far, it could be a lot better and I do wish there was more but what is there is good. I hope they take it further in future games
@RandomName I mean you could say the same about older Pokemon games compared to the stuff that was coming out back then. What makes the series is really the Pokemon which is something that most other companies can't replicate
@@desdar100 It's kinda sad thats just the state of the community nowadays. They don't know what made the pokemon games good. They just circlejerk about triple A quality and think thats why they loved pokemon as kids when in reality we just liked the creatures and the world. But nowadays its just hip to harp about the glory days of yesteryear and act like it will never be as good as before, even though it was never great compared to other games in its time to begin with. Lots of overgrown adults with crippling depression that just rage at things not making them happy as they used to when they're the one's who've changed, not the games.
I feel that another game with these features that fits better with the traditional games would be more enjoyable for you. I find the catching and pokedex completion fun so I'm having a blast, but I can see why you're not enjoying it as much. I really hope GameFreak continues to build on what they established here.

Aside from the graphics, which I got used to after the first 2 hours or so, I am having more fun with this game than any of the mainline games since BW2. I understand its not for everyone and yes there are things that could/should have been better - but as far as I am concerned the 60 bux i payed were the most worth since 10 years or so. The vibe with the wild being dangerous, the RPG-Elements with free exploration, the higher difficulty, with options to grind/rush- these are things that many fans have been craving for ages and now we finally got those! Most importantly, I believe, is that we can finally see innovation: If this style of Pokemon-Game is continued and improved upon then I can only see a bright future. Imo you cant even compare these to SwSh, they are totally different games. Unfortunately, as we could see with this game and BDSP (and earlier games), the time-limits or time-managment must have not been amazing. But that probably wont change, will it?
I mean if people are more vocal is saying they need more time (many though seem oppose to it)...I'm fine with people buying this game for their effort but if the next game is again lagging behind then there has to be a line.
I think it has to do with the anime. Gen 8 was rushed out because the anime was moving on to the Galar region. If the game lags behind in development, everything gets messed up.
@@TuesdaysArt If you had been catching up, the anime has been diverging out of focusing on the new region, and making it more worldwide by going through different regions, also they do filler regions (like Orange Islands, Battle Frontier [return to Kanto] and Decolore Islands]) and I doubt they were planned.
God bored pretty early. I thought it was going to have a deep mature story. Mostly due to the fact it takes place in the past were humans and Pokémon aren't exactly on the best of terms. Boy was I WRONG... The story is weak as prior Pokémon games and no interesting characters in my opinion. I dropped the game but I'm enjoying the hell out of Digimon Survive. That's a game with a great story and characters 👏
My only real complaint is the graphics. Pokemon is fundamentally different from other open world games, so "just collecting pokemon" is actually okay, but there are some puzzles and better quests down the line. I've been as critical as you of recent Pokemon games, but while not stunning it's still a pretty good game.
@@exbla7080 It is open world in many aspects. It has open areas that are quite large, especially without a mount. I'd compare it more to the Xenoblade games outside of X which had open areas that worked like open worlds. Also, if we can consider Elder Scrolls games open world, when you have to load into houses, caves, and towns, then this can be considered open world.

Maybe you are just burnt out of Pokemon? I had zero expectations for this game. And it surprised me... positively. Yea it's a quite good and very fun game in my eyes. And will recommend it to anyone who wants to come back to Pokemon or play a Pokemon game for the first time

Do I think it's a good idea to basically try and kill the first new steps into something new, something gamefreak hasn't really done in years? hell no, it would be a huge missed opportunity to try and trash a new attempt by gamefreak. If the new series does more games and they don't really improve, then you can really lay into it, but at least let them try first

Sad. I don’t think modern pokémon is for you then. I’m personally enjoying the hell out of it. So many side quests that are unique, filling out the dex, etc. Maybe you should just stick with Gen 1-4
I can tell you only just started playing the game because a) you're enjoying it and b) you think the side quests are unique. They're all repetitive, fill out a certain pokemon's pokdex page, bring a pokemon to me, go here press a come back, and find my sister. Play the game more before you think someone else's opinion is sad.

I actually agree with you about exploration being kinda lame, catching Pokemon is just so fun to me that I don't find it that boring. Also they still fade to black for a lot of story cutscenes which really annoys me
I'm having mixed feelings towards Legends Arceus. I feel like this games doesn't decide what they want the player to do. They keep giving me missions for the player to complete, moving the plot onward but those tasks and completing Pokédex keep me too busy, distracting me from the missions. And the I keep switching between doing the tasks/completing the Pokedéx and doing the missions but after doing one of them for hours the other one feels uninteresting, a chore or "fine, let's stop and come back to that OTHER important thing". It's like they compete for my attention and don't go hand on hand with eachother. In the other Pokémon games, you could complete your Pokedéx but the real main thing was to beat the gym and the Pokémon League, so you could try to focus on the Pokedéx after beating the game or trying to catch the Pokémon while going through place to place, but it LE, completing the Pokedéx is so much more important that it keeps distracting me from the main plot and/or the main plot of the game keep distracting me from completing the Pokédex
I mean, he's just being honest about his personal thoughts on the game. It's not like he's the only one speaking the truth and every other reviewer being a liar. Hell, he even confirms that some of his complaints are a "me thing" and that most of his followers do actually enjoy the game.

The only real thing I hate about Legends Arceus is that you're forced to rank up your star rank in order to proceed in the story mode. I don't get why the star rank thing couldn't a side thing that doesn't force you to rank up in order to proceed in the story. I guess the Star Rank is a replacement for gym badges but it's a very poor replacement and it makes me not want to play the game.
I had no problems with the rank system because I was always at the rank I needed to be, if not higher. That was probably because I enjoyed capturing and researching and playing into that role, and earning the stars and later seeing what I needed them for made me feel like I was qualified to explore each area. But I guess that it ends up being a kick to the balls if you rush through each area to do the main quest
You are forced to rank up because there is no content besides that, the story would be over in 4 hours if they didn't force you to fill the pokedex. It's honestly false advertisement to introduce these new combat styles only to throw battling out the window ona handful of trainer fights and not warn consumers this is a just 3D pokemon ranger.
I didn't like Arceus. I really wanted to, but I just couldn't. The core gameplay loop is actually decent, because the catching is honestly very fun and the best thing in the game. But that's is. The rest is absolutely terrible, so unbelievably bad I just couldn't bear myself to beat the postgame. It's honestly baffling to see the amount of "not care" GF had when developing this game. Let's just say the graphics are terrible, but that's not even the worst part- the environment are so bland, so empty, so boring I basically had to force myself to explore them. Caves and dungeons are TERRIBLE, my Infernape actually had glitching graphics when I was exploring them. The writing is also SO bad and the cutscene are of course unskippable (wow, they really had confidence in their work). Even the boss fight albeit interesting at least theoretically were so stupid. Game had some positives but it's ultimately a rushed game that needed so much more polish, and it's basically a beta for Scarlet and Violet. It's now clearer than ever than GF alone can't work with 3D HD graphics. They need some serious help.
Spoilers Below!!: I feel the exact same way, but in addition I dont like the story/dialogue, its not at all what I had hoped to happen, very little to do with Unown, Kamado just being the main story antagonist was extremely weak, plus his oddly modern but awkward dialogue at the end when you fight dialga/palkia. Those Origin Form designs look extremely weird, and don't match Giratina's Origin form at all. Adaman and Irida constantly forcing the mention of "tIMe and VasTNeSs" was very annoying, and got stale very fast, bad writing. The Clans and galaxy interactions with each other is strange, they act all chummy and like they know each other one minute, but then the dialogue makes it out like they're constantly in a bitter rivalry, theres very little to back that up. Thats a major issue with Dialogue as well, "Pokemon are terrifying creatures, yet they dont act that much different than their contemporaries, and Cyllene always saying "Don't die" was very silly, trying to make everything sound darker than what is actually happening. Lorewise there should be more towns to explore, Celesstic and Eterna City, and Oreburgh I believe should exist, Oreburgh having been the primary reason Jubilife city was built. When you finally get to Arceus it just feels extremely lackluster and flat. I have seen fan versions of legends arceus that were more interesting than what was given.Why was the player character even necessary, the actual interesting part where Volo was after Arceus WAS much more interesting in addition to Giratina, but the execution is really bad. Plus, Giratina was banished for violence when the universe was forming (antimatter), and then just suddenly having a heel-face turn was really stupid. The solaceon ruins quote, with the unown had so much potenial in terms of story telling, it also reflects with how Unown function; more than 2 can basically bend reality to their whim, and with a game where Arceus is involved they would have been the perfect foil. They reference the HG/SS Sinjoh ruins but in a way that is infuriating; the floor of the hall of orifin, is the same as the alchemical symbology in the cutscene for when a new dialga/palkia/giratina get created. I could go on and on, but really this game missed a massive mark in terms of story telling, and design, and a lot more. I am getting tired of this minimal effort, when the series has such huge and wonderful potential.
All the thing is is that this is based off of the Meiji restoration era. The only thing that was around back then was Japanese settlements and the rest was forest inhabited by the Ainu. I think it's fine not to like the game but I don't think we should call it rush or incomplete just because we're not a big fan of it
@@desdar100 I get it's based off the Meiji era, but it also goes against previously established lore. Plus, these other places wouldn't have to be big per say, just small but interesting settlements that act as mini town hubs or something. Regarding the latter part, its about it feeling rushed, it feels hollow the way X and Y did. This had the ability to be a great game, but Gamefreak didn't go all the way. There are parts I like, but the negatives in my mind overshadow those.
@@TheloyalArcanine the issue though is that it's established that the DP Clans are the current indigenous people living there so they're basically like the Ainu. These people lived in the wilderness and most of what we see of modern-day Sinnoh\ Hokkaido was only put there after it was fully colonized. To be fair, a lot of the lore of the pre- BW game wasn't really set in stone and just acted as interesting tidbits speculate about but most of it has been either elaborated on or completely overridden in the present. Also I I have to disagree about a feeling similar to XY. Those games clearly needed a sister game to fix up any issues but this not being exactly how you wanted doesn't mean that it's rushed. All it really means it's just that it wasn't your cup of tea

I agree with some of the points, however I personally like how the world is completely wild and there's only 1 real town (not counting the clans). Maybe some more natural structures could be fun tho
I personally think its an pretty good game thats fun in terms of the catching mechanics and a bunch of other stuff like shiny hunting but what blows my mind that some people are saying its the best story in a pokemon game…. Im 30 hours in and to me its nothing special and rips off botw heavy at the start.

Seriously no matter what Gamefreak does people like Gireum will still complain. There is a difference between criticism and just always negativity bashing something. I’m not surprised though as people love drama after all and will happily bring fame to those that hate on well accomplished franchises and companies. Hello there Mr. Jerrycan! I certainly can't speak for everybody but this game kind of made me feel like a kid again but in a good way. It's been ages since I walked into a Pokemon game not knowing what to expect and being legitimately challenged. I hope that you progressed you enjoy the game though since tamashi had similar feelings to you ended up enjoying it after she got further
When I have fun with a game and hear others arent or just dislike the game. I just say "Sucks to be you then" because that doesnt stop me from enjoying and appreciating gameplay and story that I consider fun.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is different from the past Pokemon games which is still good but right now I still have the biggest question 🤔is when will Pokemon Brillant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl have the fourth update patch so we can finally used the Wonder Trade and Global Trade Station (GTS). I know there's Link Trade but Wonder Trade is the most important part of the games and makes it a lot easier, I don't know why they're not added to the games before released back in November but I'm guess that with Pokemon Legend Arceus release that they wanted wait a bit longer before it's finally updated but I'm hoping it'll happen at the start of February because I'm getting fed up of waiting and because be worth it🤞. As for Pokemon Legends: Arceus I will planning to buy the game in the future after watching some UA-cam videos to get some ideas to what to expect in the game.
One thing I hate is that everyone looks like a character from gen 4 sinnoh, "Oh wow look at prof rowan with black hair, look at male Cynthia, literally captain Mars, Cyrus gender bend. And dumb people will say "OMG those are their ancestors" bro how is it that the ancestor of captain mars looks more like her than her mom, they just want to milk that nostalgia and not make new character models cause they are lazy.
and it's not just Gen 4/Sinnoh characters, I seen a ancestor for Karen and Wally The hardest ones to guess (if they even have any decendants) are Adaman and Irida
I think we've grown into mediocrity that anything decent is amazing because this game is missing a lot of small things that prevents it from being a fun open section world. Overall since it's Pokémon and haven't had a game like this it is amazing. Granted I have been enjoying it but the technical issues are too much to count
Love you but it really feels like you are trying to think of any small problems you have to try and make the game seem worse than it is. If these problems actually hurt your experience then I guess that's fair enough but idk they seem rather small. Also I think the cutscenes are used well, I think you just have a certain idea of how the flow of pokemon games are supposed to be so you just speed through cutscenes and get annoyed when the game doesn't suddenly completely stop having a story
I personally disagree. Now before any assumptions about me going "how dare you judge the game so early!" occur, I would like to say that 1. You are very fair with your critiques of what you've seen and 2. I'm fully aware that your opinions could change since you're only 7 hours in. I do think that my two biggest problems I have are with the graphics and music. This looks like a Wii game and nothing about this world feels very grandiose at all. Almost nothing is polished here. The music whike good for stuff like battles and some areas sometimes just cut out and leave this slow piano. I know it's supposed to be atmospheric but when there's not much atmosphere to take in, it kinda just feels empty. Now everything else I either enjoyed or it surpassed my low expectations. The story characters, while bare bones, didn't get on my nerves much at all. The catching mechanic is actually pretty neat and I think a better use of it than Let's go. I never really found the switch to turn based jarring at all and actually quite liked it. I'm not too mad about the side quests cause I find them a good distraction when I'm not trying get through the main missions too quickly. Overall, I'd say I'm enjoying myself but still wouldn't call this great. It's certainly the most fun I've had with a recent Pokemon title in a while but that bars not exactly high.
I agree. The game, as unpolished and underdeveloped it is, manages to be a pretty fun experience, and definitely the best Pokémon game for a while (2nd best 3D Pokémon, ORAS is still better imo)
i enjoy it as a “turn your brain off” sorta game, which is my favourite kind of game lmao. the kind you can unwind and space out playing for hours after a long and draining day, just doing tasks and whatnot. kinda like animal crossing. i think it’s sorta overhyped, but it’s charming, and the formula has some potential :^)
The pokemon community is on some toxic positivity rampage right now- this video is probably gonna end up getting ratio'd. I think I can summarize my complaints with the game by saying : that the game is horribly designed visually , mechanically and narratively. -Visually because everything is bland including its hub area. -Mechanically because it feels like they didnt push enough into the aspects of the game that made it unique -Narratively because the story feels more like a second thought than any primary form of engagement . I'm full on expecting a ," Well, I had fun" passive aggressive comment- so let me get ahead of the curve on that , if you're a " let people have fun" advocate ... let people have discussions and criticisms , toxic positivity is not healthy.

I enjoyed the conversation, the cutseances if you could call them than, and the story, so it didn’t feel as terrible to me. Also, I enjoyed the catching of Pokémon, for more than an hour, and didn’t feel the grind. I mean people are different in what one enjoys, I guess. I do agree mostly with all the points. but honestly, I had a lot of fun, and felt invested in the game, story, and gameplay. It can always be better; however, it didn’t feel as a train wreak or disaster to me xd. Lastly it might also be becouse i had little exspecations, and were used to their standard games, so when this came out, it felt new, fun and great, might be if i replay it in a year, i might change my view. (I do get the game is very flawed and deserved more work, but at some point feels as this is the same with every game and company who makes games, somethimes you just give up and want to enjoy stuff instead of otherwise always.)

they literally make a prototype labeled a AAA finished pokemon official game and call it a day thats how u know that they care a lot for their fans they can throw whatever unfinished mess they got for quick profit and fans will eat it all up anytime
Maybe it's just indicative of how disappointing the other recent titles have been, but even this negative impression gets me more excited to play the game for myself than official marketing for Sw/Sh or BD/SP ever did.
I’m always really curious to see viewpoints on this. Mostly because when it comes to games all I really care about is having fun playing it myself. If someone happens to dislike or strongly like some thing that I just enjoy that’s fine. I actually love Jen sevens games even though a lot of people aren’t the biggest fans. Does that mean I think they’re perfect oh God no. Still I’m hoping to get this game if just so I can see if I’ll have fun with it that’s all that matters to me
Thank you! You sumed up my exact thoughts about this game! The core gameplay of this game is catching and exploring, but they dont give you much reason to do those things. The only thing you need pokemon for is to catch even more pokemon. There are no gyms, a rival, a league or a battlefrontier to actually use these pokemon. Yes those things grew stale in past games, but there was a reason they existed. Pokemon had a purpose in those games. Same goes for the exploration. Not only is there almost nothing to find and almost no verticality, you can barely interact with the world too. Throwing a pokeball at a tree or a rock is just a fancy way to pick up items. For a game so similar to Monster Hunter and BOTW, there is zero actual action in this except the Boss fights were you just throw sacks. You cant do anything except throw stuff in this game. Imagine how awesome it would be if you could actually control the pokemon in this and battle other pokemon this way or use them to solve environmental puzzles. I can understand that most people just love catching pokemon and find it intrinsically fun. So I'm glad people are actually having fun with pokemon again. But for the future I dont think we should send out the signal that this is all we want in pokemon. This is neither a quality RPG nor a good action exploration game in my opinion. My fear is that Gamefreak will now just make a new bare minimum open world every two years, drop some pokemon into it and call it a day. Why make towns and intricate dungeons when people are satisfied with this? I really hope I am wrong about this though.
This is kinda how I feel too. I enjoyed my time with the game, but in addition to everything you said we don't even know if these new Hisuian forms will even be in another game again. Makes it hard to get to attached to a design when there's barely any trainers to battle and no guarantee of them being available in a future title.
Yeah, we should praise for the positives, but this just keeps showing how rushed games stifle potential, it and needs more time - a part of me thinks this game has the same development time as SwSh though it makes me wonder how much competent a game is if not directed by either Masuda nor Ohmori.

Without pokemon, it would be a shitty game. How about just mentioning some of the things then. Another city, a hidden treasure, a ruin that is more than just decoration. If you still can not answer it, then it must raise the question of whether it is there at all. You seem to not be a bot. There are a lot of bots that defend pokemon. Fortunately, they are easy to get in place. Pokemon looks like ... no. Is built on air castles. Fans who do not want to see the truth. People who are paid to call it better than it is. AI who praises the game. It's being sold as a big game by a big company, but in reality it's closer to a lazy indie game. It is, of course, a tough camel to swallow. I've been a fan since the beginning, and it took me a long time to discover that pokemon were ... boring. I played 20+ hours of this game and i really tried to like it but... I am regretting every minute i spent with it. This game is so boring and restrictive it`s actually shocking. The battle system is so watered down that it comes down to "use strong attack with fast Pokemon",it is ugly as sin and completing the Dex-enties is just busywork. I do not understand how people criticized SW/SH for removing features, bad graphics and incomplete pokedex but defending this game even though it is worse in all these points. Also people are saying:"yes, it is boring but it is a good foundation..." .You payed 60 bucks for this and are okay with just a "foundation"?
Theres too many pokemon kiss arses out there, that wont admit the game sucks. Even if the game had the right intentions and apeared to be going in the right way.
If you count this as a side-game it's pretty good, but it didn't experiment more. If you count this as a mainline game, then it does feel lacking a lot.

Imo Legends is the kind of game Monster Hunter and/or Pokemon Go players would like, not hardcore Pokemon fans. I admit it's an improvement compared to the other games since SM, but come on. Does anyone genuinely think someone who's favorite Pokemon game is Platinum is gonna like Legends? Again, it's an ok game. It just doesn't feel like it was made for actual Pokemon fans.
I love Monster Hunter and legends took all those elements and then made it difficult for me to enjoy the game at my leisure and forced me through bullshit tutorials for 2 hours. I haven't touched legends since then. It's been an entire week now.
@@lordblazer Pokemon has been treating the players like 2 year old babies since gen 7. And naturally, Legends is no different. My hopes for the future of this franchise are all gone. That is, until they decide to make a mainline Pokemon game with mandatory set mode, zero tutorials, and no exp share.
I haven't fully finished it yet, but I'm guessing I'm almost done with at least the main story. My feelings are that this is the kind of Pokemon game I have wanted for over 20 years. The fact that I can choose to throw out any Pokemon I want into a battle, or catch a Pokemon out in the wilderness just by throwing a Pokemon at it while it's unaware of me, is exactly what the Anime showed me over 20 years ago. It's mechanically the perfect Pokemon game, and even the people who don't like it generally still praise the gameplay mechanics and say it's the direction the future of the series should head. That said, I fully understand all the complaints, and can see why some might not like this specific game overall. The graphics are nothing special at all, there should be more trainer battles IMO, and I'd hope future games in this style have a lot more towns you can visit. That said, I love the game a lot. It's probably the most fun I have had with an RPG since Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and easily the most fun I have had with a Pokemon game since the original Diamond. I only loved that game due to friends at school, and the various multiplayer features that game had at the time.
I agree with you as a kid I used to dream for a Pokémon game like this but thought we'd never get it. Hell they stopped making 3d games after the game cube games for like 10 years. This game blew my mind sure I saw the flaws right off the bat but I didn't care I felt like a kid again. The catching system is easily best in the entire series, they finally got Pokémon sizes right. I loved feeling tiny in comparison of some of my mons. The music was good per usual, the alpha mons were a neat idea which felt like the one episode when they grew super big. Might have the best boss battle yet I like how it was 3 stages. This is good ground work for the next game if they fix up a few things like the lack of trainer battles, held items, stat changing moves, abilities, gym/elite 4,(I want to feel a sense of hierarchy of skill with trainers like in the old games, the protagonist should be recognized as the strongest person at the end of the game), voice acting(I think it's finally time for va, I loved the story but it could have been delivered better with good vo) boom perfect Pokémon game.
My opinion on people saying that this game is boring or awful is that it's coming from a very specific nich of jaded Pokémon fans who are no longer able to appreciate or enjoy a Pokémon game. If you spend your last 5-10 years disliking anything that Pokémon had to offer (starting from X/Y) and going off with extensive essays about how bad Pokémon and Pokémon games are, there's a good chance that it's going to affect how you perceive the new games and prevent you from appreciating the good that a game has to offer. All of this was a generic "you", because I'm talking about people I personally know and aren't necessarily Youtbers who post 1h video essays on why Sword&Shield are the worst Pokémon games ever, but who became so jaded with the series and Game Freaks that the moment you mention "Pokém..." they already turn green. How can a person like that possible and genuinely go into a new Pokémon game unbiased and curious to play ? Pokémon Legends Arceus is by no mean a perfect game. It has a lot of cons, and some edges are very rough. But complaining about e.g. NPC's in a Pokémon game is ridiculous: NPC's have never done anything interesting in the main series, ever (only that town in Black&White where NPC's go home at night, but if you stay out, they won't automatically go home). Is it cute that NPC's in Breath of the Wild go to sleep ? Yes. Is it a necessity for me to enjoy the game ? Of course not. Besides, you must have not paid attention or played enough, because the town evolves, new NPC's arrive, so it's not as dead as you picture it. I'm not at all saying that you HAVE to like the game. It's a very repetitive (not necessarily boring) gameplay, and fetch requests and catching Pokémon may not be for everyone's entertainment. As for me, I haven't started to feel bored yet, and I've played extensively since Friday and I haven't even finished the main story (and I've heard that the post game is quite good). But this game is a HUGE step forward for Game Freak, not only "a small step in the right direction". The battle system has been revolutionised (turn-based, the whole move-pool, changing malus, strong vs. fast techniques), the areas are huge (think of roads between cities in a 9th generation game which are ¼ of these areas, it would be a blast), the possibilities are infinite. And what do people who spent a huge chunk of time complaining ? Focus on "NPC's who aren't moving". It just shows how jaded you are, and how unable you became to enjoy a Pokémon game which, like ANY game out there, has its flows. It's like saying that BotW is boring because there aren't that many monster variations. Is it true that there aren't many monster variations ? Yes. Does it make BotW a bad game ? No, of course. So yeah, is Pokémon Legends Arceus a 10/10 ? No, it has big flaws that need be fixed (in a next game, probably). Is it a 0/10 as some say ? No, that's ridiculous. If you want to give it a bad score, I'd say a 5/10 would be fair, but I'd easily give it a 7 or 8/10. It was (and still is) a breath of fresh air for the Pokémon franchaise and I hope they listen to objective and grounded critics and produce something big next time. We went from the wild areas to this, and you're still unhappy. At this point I'm afraid you're so jaded that it's basically become impossible to win some fans over (meaning: it's NATURAL for people to change their tastes and move on. Game Freak doesn't have to allign to EVERYONE's tastes).
I honestly don't get the hate for Gen 6. It definitely could have been executed better, but I honestly felt like my money would have been better spent buying X/Y than it was on Sword + DLC. The mechanics I've seen in ORAS and the small bits I've seen of the game honestly don't seem that bad.
Good points in the video. I personally am having a lot of fun with this game. Catching a ton of one kind of Pokémon and completing the dex is something I used to do as a kid and having that feeling come back in a new way made me enjoy this game so much more. The lack of trainer battles was alright because most of the time I was exploring and or battling alphas & the battles felt alright. After completing the game u have a few more challenges to face which honestly is a lot of fun and challenging, something I haven’t felt since gen 3. I hope game freak just continues with this direction but expands upon what they’ve already created^^
Not surprising seing that they made a game without anything to do in it. Like what’s even the objective? Just catching Pokémon can get boring and tiring. How the game is getting the scores it is getting is beyond me, but hey, when the bar is that low it’s understandable.
Oh thank Christ. There’s a distinct lack of critical thought in the reviews of this game. They’re all so distracted by the minor changes to the formula. It’s a joke. It’s still filled with all the same problems as the last as my biggest gripe with the game is that you need save data from BDSP to access Darkrai and Shaman, and furthermore, to complete the post game and get the final ending. So in summary, to play all the content in Pokémon Legends Arceus, you need to spend £80, at minimum. Bullshit.
To be fair, it's a REALLY big step, normally gamefreak just copy and pastes the same game with a new coat of paint for the past 25 years so seeing them actually make a new game from scratch with new concepts and mechanics for once is pretty cool.
Haven’t played a Pokémon game since GBA sapphire/ruby and I have to say it has its faults but it is very good imo. My only problems I’ve had is catching Pokémon flying super high up and visually seeing Pokémon in water/tall grass. Also there really should be a compass or some kind of minimap to give you a sense of direction without needing to look at the map 24/7

The Pokemon have all unique behaviors? All i have seen them do is either walking a few steps and then change directions, roar at random, or fall asleep, when they do not see you Like it is more than in gamse like sword and shield, but nothing i would call unique behaviors
@@ZeroShaneBob this is not really New for this game. As far as i can tell, the pokemon already moved differently in pokemon lets go. Still nothing i would call a unique behavior. In my mind, they would interact with the World in unique ways. Like maybe starlys sit in trees, looking for neaby bug types to ambush them for Food or even ambush you, to catch you off guard. Maybe more aggressive pokemon would attack other pokemon, so when you engage the other pokemon, they are already weakened and easier to catch. Something like this is, what i would call unique behavior
The thinking "You just have to get to the end and it will be fun" is so dumb it makes me cry for the human race that someone could have this "logic". "Don't worry about the bland, half cooked and almost inedible food you have, if you continue to eat it for a week the dessert is pretty good."
Honestly, he's playing a pkmn game expecting something else. The botw comparison just showed where his expectations are. To me, it is a classic pokemon game, you explore, capture pokemons, fight, advance the story. If that's not enough, you're playing the wrong game.

I personally hold such a huge franchise with the budget and supposed expertise they’ve accumulated to a higher standard than “meets basic function”. I find the game mediocre at best, kinda bland and the dialog is way too loony but I’m also happy they are trying new things and I can see it being good if they build on the concept and I’m also happy for other people that they like it since I still would like to see the franchise continue.

You don't have to catch a Bidoof 12 times, though... you can defeat a Bidoof, or use Rollout with it 3 times, or evolve it. Completing every single task is not mandatory. You only need to complete 10 of them (and the red task are worth double, so you can actually just do less tasks if you choose the most valuable ones first). Completing all tasks is only worthwhile for shiny hunters.
Feel like this game is missing two out of three pillars. Battles and exploration/puzzles. That’s why I laugh when it’s called a main line game. It’s definitely a spin-off.
Your face is boring. But in all seriousness, I quite enjoyed this game. It was the breath of fresh air (not of the Wild) the franchise so desperately needed. Loved the concept of Pokemon actually attacking me, I can dodge them, throw stuff to/at them, much more accessible shiny hunting for filthy casuals like me, etc I'd take Legends games over the traditional games any day of the week. Especially if they don't bring back Toby Fox. Quit bringing him back and leave him alone to do his own stuff. Pokemon doesn't need his ass for publicity because they already have the entire world's publicity, being the largest grossing media franchise ever.

Bruh… It’s not all about the story lmao. It’s about riding wydeer, the joy and excitement of riding through the land. And dismounting to summon pokemon to break ore and gather barries from trees, then rolling and mounting wydeer again. Dashing infront of wild pokemon, and sneak back attack for first hit encounter. It’s also about farming for the best natures for physical and special. Timid and jolly, and farming alphas that don’t have the nature u want. To release them and get grits to make ur pokemon effort stats stronger. Cmon man! Cmon!
Hmmm I’ve agreed with every single video up until this point. Sorry man but I’m loving this game so much. I feel like a kid again. I never had doubts about it from day 1.
Ways to improve the game Have a subplot where some characters are seeking to build a new town(or town expansion project). Many villagers are highly distrustful of Pokemon, with only specialized clans/seasoned adventurers being brave enough to have one. The player must catch pokemon to help with certain tasks(cutting trees, moving rocks etc) and most importantly completing quests for the townsfolk while being followed by their chosen starter. And the townspeople interacting with this young outsider begin to realize that Pokemon aren't just monsters, and that its possible to live with them in peace and harmony. And slowly you begin to see more pokemon appear in town. Maybe one of the buildings we help create turns out to be Sinnohs first gym. And as the game ends you see the way your thinking has rippled outwards. You see a boy who was formerly terrified of pokemon and refused to leave the house now roams the town with his shinx, A young woman brought by her Fiancee(now husband) rocks her baby with the chimeco you found for her wedding singing a lullaby. An old man laughs as the starly that was once a pest now helps him pick berries from the high branches. A small toddler learns to walk with thelp of a buneary while a glameow keeps a watchful eye atop a wall. A Man tired from working asks his chimchar to help make a small bonfire to roast sweet potatoes and his buddies and their pokemon come to join in. And then after a final pan around the town you zoom in to see two children, a boy and a girl, go up to the professor and ask him what kind of pokemon they should start with so they can go out and adventure. And he says, well I have these 3 pokemon....
I thought I was going crazy with everyone loving this game and saying "it's the best Pokemon game ever" whilst I thought it was a boring price of shit. You hit every point on the head precisely what my issues with it were in this video and probably going to go re play XD now instead
Imagine being so complacent and so desperate for literally any form of innovation that a game, which doesn't even come close to an accurate portrayal of the place it's based on, is missing 660 moves, has graphics that are worse than a 5 year old game that released with the Switch and suffers from some serious clipping issues is enough to earn the praise "best Pokémon game in a while."
I'm glad I didn't buy this. It looks like trash. "A step in the right direction" isn't a justified reason for the game to be entirely lackluster. There's nothing new about this game. Countless games have mounts and resource collection. Maybe it's new to Pokemon, but it's all old ideas. WOW, you crouch in grass!? Holy smokes I never heard of sneak mechanics in a game. I can't forgive the horrible graphics anymore, I refuse to spend money on it.
Map and environments are empty and repetitive - may as well have just drawn it on photoshop and laid it out on a random terrain generator... Optimization is poor - draw distances, rendering, frame drops etc. Art direction is horrid and is only worse when added with the above two points. Research is tedious, repetitive and meaningless. Side quests are tedious, repetitive and meaningless. Cutscenes with dialogue had no voice acting, animation or anything that resembled a cutscene - may as well just have cardboard cut-outs moving the mouth up and down. Tutorials are unnecessary and a waste of time. Story is generic and baby preschool time - may as well been written by a high school student. The only reason people are not taking the above points seriously and instead giving this game absurdly high scores is because they like the new combat mechanics and action RPG gameplay style. Just because that makes Pokemon games better doesn't mean it should get high praise, it should still be critiqued fairly. Considering the negatives outweigh the positives, I would still be extremely generous by saying it deserves a 5/10. It's average, plain and simple.
I honestly wasn’t a big fan of this game either. A good chunk of the characters are really unlikeable, the “rival” is absolutely useless, I don’t like the concept of Arceus just handing u a phone upgrade and bringing u back in time cause like what? I also didn’t like how the game has a lot of breath of the wild similarities. Also, the new battle style I think is a downgrade, cause fast Pokémon can get up to 5 hits a turn with agile style and high speed stats. The side quests are repetitive and unoriginal, the graphics aren’t really that good, and my least favorite thing of this game is the boss fights. Idk what it is, but it doesn’t feel like Pokémon in the slightest. It feels like a typical rpg, and nothing like Pokémon or what an ideal version of Pokémon would be. I get that this game is probably just an experiment, but it doesn’t feel like a Pokémon game. All in all, the plot was rushed and repetitive, half the game was a breath of the wild copyright, the characters weren’t special, the new battle aspects weren’t enjoyable, and the music wasn’t anything special to me either. It just didn’t feel right at all, and I only kept at it till I finished was cause i felt like I had to
The game is unfinished and ugly but I looove the concept and I cant stop playing. I really hope they expand on this concept and make something great in the next installment.
I'll be completely honest. I feel exactly like you do. And by exactly, I mean exactly. There's nothing to do except solve bad fetch quests and run around catching or looking for littered items. That's it.
After completing this game within 2 days of it coming out, I find it quite boring too in my opinion! There's not much to do after completing it except from catching the rest of the Legendaries, the Willowisps and unknown and to complete the Pokedex which I've already done. Nintendo definitely rushed this game but that's my opinion!
Pretty sure they're giving up on this game and going forward with Scarlet/Violet. Hopefully they'll over-deliver on the next game pair instead of watering it down with back and forth tasks. The post game in Arceus is the worst. I wish you could build things with objects like housing... something interactive in a way that spends minutes on end with creativity.
1. Every game has tutorials. 2. Cutscenes can be compiled in a 20 minute video and the game is like 60 hours. If you're not rushing through the game you won't care about the cutscenes. 3. Side quests are completed naturally by exploring the game normally. They never make you go out of their way to catch Pokémon or get items you wouldn't normally, outside of a few ones.
I feel almost the same as you. The game has some interesting ideas and is a step forward for the series, but I don't think those things alone are enough to make up for the rather barren, repetitive experience. My score for this would be either a 6 or 7/10. I would love to see this concept expanded upon and given a longer development time.

I've watched the entire playthrough of this game and I'm trying to figure Where it's fun and "The Best Pokémon Game EVER!!".. 3-5hrs of cutscene, hand holding and tutorial that everyone Hated in S&M but all of a sudden adore now.. People hate grinding in Pokémon games (I don't. That's the best part. Raising a team), but they all of a sudden enjoy grinding in this game.. There's nothing in the world other than scattered Pokémon, basically, Wild Area 3.5... Don't get me started on the graphics and artstyle that all of a sudden, doesn't matter. We're talking about the biggest franchise in the world who are incapable of developing a Good open world Pokémon experience similar to the anime, instead they give the Stan's a GameCube version that should've been out 8yrs ago, and Everybody loves it??!!! The lies Poketubers and Pokestans tell themselves is like watching the ignorance of the world today with mandates and such. Pokémon games will stay dead and dying as long as Pokestans and Poketubers continue to buy these poorly developed and unsurprisingly shite games.
This is exactly what I'm talking about, calling this game "dead" is so negatively biased that one can't take this comment seriously. Is the game perfect in every matter ? No, it has deep flaws that are sometimes embarrassing, like some pixels going berserk around the character, which is unexcusable of a company with the resources Game Freak has access to. But does it make the game unplayable ? No. As for the gameplay, I can assure you that I was sceptical myself before playing it, but then I've found out that running around those huge areas wasn't that boring, nor is catching every Pokémon in sight. Grinding doesn't feel as bad because the battle system is new, fresher, and more flexible, some of my favourite features being the possibility to start battles with any Pokémon in your team and the new move system, which allows for rearranging them at your will. Again, I'm not saying you HAVE to like a game, you can personally find it boring or not your style, but the fact that some jaded fans have ended up settng up impossibly high standards is more on themselves rather than Game Freak. Asking for "an open world experience like the anime" is simply ridiculous, anime and videogames are two different media, and demanding such a depth in a franchise that never looked to be THAT detailed is insane, and maybe it's time for some people to stop hating on Pokémon games and start playing and loving franchises that satisfy their needs (if there's any, at this point).
@@francescoghigo8394 It isn't unplayable, but why shouldn't our standards be like how we see Nintendo games, somewhere we can brag to other companies that this is top class if not the best. My issue is I do think this is a great Pokemon game, but Platinum/B2W2 and such. Still a part of me feels it can't be compared, seeing how different they are IMO. Maybe can compared with XD and Collosseum, I guess may have surpassed them (although the 2 are closer to the main games with their battles). I will say my issue it feels boring and needs more pace breakers. The early hours having to go back to that cliff route is a bit off, although I wonder if it's just the consequence of the side quest. It was a relief when he FINALLY gotten close to Solaceon with the new deserty biomes. I will say about grinding, I do wonder at what point it won't get old - I guess it's streamlined now, but I wonder if it's enough to hold attention if that's all you do for the most part.

If you can't enjoy a game without slapping it on others' face, I guess that's your problem, not Game Freak's. As for the gameplay, again, it's absolutely fair to personally find it boring or not engaging. I found it ok, you didn't, it's not objective. I had fun coming back with new Pokémon to help me explore and I didn't have issues with the few things to do (fetch requests, exploration, completing the Pokédex, a little grinding here and there, especially needed only for the end of the main story). We don't need to agree that the game is a 10/10. But "repetitive" doesn't mean "boring". Plenty of games can have few things to do but still be fun to play.
@@francescoghigo8394 Not sure what's bragging about saying what games I expected should be a good standard for Pokemon in terms of care of content and gameplay being put on. I'm fine with the gameplay, just saying there should more to it than that. SwSh should be as fun as other Pokemon games, the process of capturing and battling has been moslty the same with some twists. But the things surrounding it aren't and the expectations of how much content should be on there I think is fair should be met. The framework of Legends Arceus is great, but is really just scratching the surface, compared to other games with similar premises. Great start, but as a product is just OK and IMO is currently overpraised.

As for SwSh and Arceus, I totally agree that these aren't the best, but the jump in quality from SwSh is clearly there, and Arceus is a very interesting turn that hopefully they'll keep working on. Would it have been great if they worked on it 1-e more years and it came out with a lot more content and fixes ? Of course, ANY product will result in a better version of itself if you give it more time and care. But this is a good Pokémon game and we know that Game Freak has always worked with half-baked Pokémon games that got improved generation after generation. You've brought up Platinum and B2W2 and guess what ? They're the sequel of their generation's games, GF worked upon Diamond&Pearl and BW. Not saying it's the way companies should work, but why pretend it's never been like that ?

That's unfortunate to hear... For once I'm actually having fun with a modern pokemon game let alone a 3D pokemon game. Is it perfect? Hell no. But fun it is and I find myself being quite invested which is great.

I respect Gireum's opinion - but disagree _hard._ I am usually the Pokémon naysayer and Game Freak "hater" (I only even like gen 5 and ORAS, no others) - but I _absolutely love_ this game. Yes, it's not perfect, nothing is - it has its downsides, everything does. But when I think of what I wanted Pokémon to be all along? This game is it. Exactly!! I only play Pokémon to build my “perfect” team and battle with either Elite 4 or other strangers. As soon as I build the team I want, I don’t even bother catching other Pokémons. There’s literally not a single challenging battle in the entire game.

They'll probably bring back the Trainer/Gym System, it at least beat my expectations of having no trainer battles but I expected it to be all about the Pokemon hunting given what the trailers advertised.
@CyborgJiro I had a thought that maybe they instead of remakes that they could make a new region that compliments the Regional Pokedex of the first 2 games of the generation, and one that is maybe less story based and more free-flowing. While Legends games are great in concept to flesh out lore, I think implementing both story and openness to the mainline can be fantastic.

Some things I want them to use and others I don't. I like the open world and being able to throw Pokemon balls. And keep strong Pokemon in that are hostile. But the Pokedex I didn't like.
I'm enjoying it thus far but god, I want them to KEEP GOING with the ideas this game started. I sincerely hope that they don't just give up on the idea wholesale. It's not that the ideas are bad, it's that they needed more time to bake. And if they can't realize this I'll be severely upset
Sadly, I doubt it'll keep going. The pokemon community is just a toxic cesspool focused on being angry all the time with unconstructive criticisms nowadays. They'll just review bomb the game for not being a triple A masterpiece and complain about anything the stays the same or even change slightly. It's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. If there's anyone to blame, its the hivemind of haters that always want to complain on Twitter about never being satisfied and how they can't get that nostalgic rush.

@@zjzr08 unconstructive: focusing on the smallest of details only to drop them when they get fixed (e.g. characters' facial expressions, Pokémon sizes, battle system, difficulty settings) and finding new ones to nitpick about (e.g. NPC's). The Pokémon fanbase has become so jaded and toxic that people lost sight of what a game is supposed to be: enjoyed. Instead people find it more satisfying destroying a game and throwing sh*t at Game Freak. If you're no longer in target and/or no longer enjoy the games, why bother ? Why don't you play games you actually like ? Chances are that these people have such high standards that no game meets their expectations. Besides, ridiculous demands such as "a Pokémon game with ALL regions, ALL gyms, OPEN WORLD, with NO ORDER, ALL Pokémon who roams with their VERY OWN personality, and they follow you like REAL animals" aren't constructive at all, just fever dreams.

@@francescoghigo8394 I mean there were a LOT of issues in addition to those that those fixes are still not enough IMO (although as I said, I try not to compare this to the other mainline games). The concepts ARE THERE, it's just not put all the way or to a level that IMO is at least not jarring).
I applaud all the adjustments you said, but it feels like half-step forward than full step, some of which seems to be easy fixes (like the character movements; to tell the truth the character expression still look a bit off with sudden transitions from one expression to the next).
And come on, while I do agree it is too much to ask for all regions for one game, I don't think the issues Gireum said was too much to add on if they were given a year or two more to develop (although the long tutorial feel is a choice that is there, regardless of the polish).

My problem with the new games are they are exactly what you said to me: great starting points. If everything they make are always starting points, when do they actually improve on their new styles? Yes yes, there are great systems in place in this game but the world looks very gamecube era to me. Just feels rushed, especially considering that Breath of the Wild is older and still looks SOOOO much better than this. It just feels like Gamefreak is just putting in 50% effort all the time these days. I'm starting to think they just don't know how to make graphics with the team members they have? Just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, and later into the game there's this spiritist girl who gives you a stone statue that helps you find a new ghost-like collectable, which is kinda similar to finding korok seeds. Finding Unowns in unique landmarks is pretty cool too.

It is pretty fun. Could look better. I hope they stick with this formula but bring back towns, gyms, elite four and trainer battles and multiplayer and it will be amazing.
Also the overworld is okay but it could have better POI and dungeons. Overall it is a solid game. I’dgive it a 7.5-8.

@@wombat4583 The Legends formula of mostly captures, more storytelling and the moves being different than the mainline games should be exclusive there, but the streamlining like quick captures (for lesser level Pokemon), live battles (although I think I still prefer the Battle Revolution camera style) and maybe some sidequests could be implemented in the mainlines.

Read my post again. I have no problem with many aspects of the preexisting games. My problem is that they needed to upgrade graphics and how you explore the world,the problem is not that there are gyms and trainer battles etc. it’s the linear path, easy difficulty, and outdated game mechanics.
PLA changes many of the mechanics therefore changing the flow of the game drastically.

I tried. I gave it about 17 hours, beat 4 bosses and I just can't go back to it. It's one of the most boring games I've ever played. It's so empty. After the first 3 hours being a barrage of cutscenes I completely stopped caring about the story and sped through all dialogue. The side quests are incredibly pointless for anything other than filling the Pokedex which after 10 hours I stopped caring about as well and just wanted to get to the end of the game. Cool, you can throw pokeballs in real time. I found that to be literally the only thing that was enjoyable when it worked. But I can't go back, too many other games to play. This one was a real let down for me.
This is the first time I’ve ever been invested in a Pokemon story. I think the dialogue is interesting and it’s very cool to see how people and Pokemon coexisted before modern times. There’s some interesting lore and a lot of easter eggs in the dialogue that reference future games. With that in mind, I don’t actually mind the cutscenes. They were way worse in Sun-Moon and Sword-Shield because those games had bad dialogue.
I will agree the dialogue at least sounds more interesting, although feels redundant with "you need to research" repeated at the start.
Man, I am surprised this isn't mentioned more. Arceus finally treats its players with respect. and not like a toddler. The dialogue is actually interesting, and isn't treating you like a baby that just opened its eyes. Actually, you actually are the one teaching people in the world about Pokemon. I think that's super cool.
I also like the setting. I really like the idea of people having to learn to accept Pokemon and starting out fearing them because they can breathe fire, or call down lightning. Its refreshing to see a reasonable reaction to something that could eat you in your sleep.
@@booleah6357 It's odd though because according to books in Sinnoh itself that there was a time that "Pokemon and humans were one"...did a side quest explain how did humans eventually fear them?
@@zjzr08 Just like humans and other animals were the same before becoming predators and prey. It's not something that happens overnight, it's evolution during thousands or millions of years. There's a part where they mention that they don't even remember when or why they started believing in their god, they just do because of tradition, just like the real world.
I'm curious if this will be the next Black & White (HATED but retroactively LOVED.) Or the opposite I suppose (LOVED but retroactively HATED).
I WILL say this... I wish there was voice acting.
Edit: The quality of life improvements like changing the moves at will, choosing when to evolve your Pokemon when they meet certain conditions, etc. Should stick around for future games.
I hope it stays retroactively the same. Alot of people like it, way more than the ones hating it. Keep it that way
IDK gen 5 graphics will age a lot better than this, but if GameFreak fail to improve on this foundation and decide to not use the quality of life improvements that this game introduces in future games, then I can definitely see this happening.
Just watch em completely abandon this whole concept and just make another mediocre game with some new gimmicks
Kinda both I think people keep ignoring the truth but the games have always changed just never drastically.
Its the culmination of all the elements fans grinded there teeth over like over world Pokémon from let's go (yes people bitched super hard ) cuts scenes and horde battles from sun and moon.
Deep lore from X and Y( the games over corrected mechanics but lore was deep) QOL from SWSH
Honestly if this continues they won't be combating graphics but expanding exploration and more QOL
With the dex switching around. It won't be gen 9 but maybe experiment with another Let's Go title
Right til this day I never understood why black and white series got all that hate I think it's one of the best in the series.
But I'm enjoying the game and I hope they stick with this formula in the future. I like sneaking around and finding different ways to catch pokemon. And some of the side quests (what I activated so far) like finding all the unknowns and all the scattered spiritombs flames are things I expected from a open world game.

To be fair the it was boring at first I was 6 hours in and it felt like a drag but after it really picked up
Map and environments are empty and repetitive - may as well have just drawn it on photoshop and laid it out on a random terrain generator...
Optimization is poor - draw distances, rendering, frame drops etc.
Art direction is horrid and is only worse when added with the above two points.
Research is tedious, repetitive and meaningless.
Side quests are tedious, repetitive and meaningless.
Cutscenes with dialogue had no voice acting, animation or anything that resembled a cutscene - may as well just have cardboard cut-outs moving the mouth up and down.
Tutorials are unnecessary and a waste of time.
Story is generic and baby preschool time - may as well been written by a high school student.
The only reason people are not taking the above points seriously and instead giving this game absurdly high scores is because they like the new combat mechanics and action RPG gameplay style.
Just because that makes Pokemon games better doesn't mean it should get high praise, it should still be critiqued fairly. Considering the negatives outweigh the positives, I would still be extremely generous by saying it deserves a 5/10. It's average, plain and simple.
@@dantemitsoyu977 Yeah well when you get used to something so boring you end up just committing to it and tricking your brain into enjoying it. This is especially true if you have no other types of stimuli to hold your attention for longer than an hour, making your brand new shiny toy take the limelight most of the time.
You can use the same tactic for study; spend enough time doing it on a regular basis without any other stimuli to distract you and you'll no longer hate doing it or procrastinate.

I don't think the main character is supposed to be Lucas and Dawn. If they were, they would have actually had much more of a reaction to meeting the characters.
Plus also the cellphone at the beginning looks too much like a modern cellphone. Nothing that could have existed in the 2006 diamond and pearl universe (BDSM doesn't count)
My guess is that the player character is from the real world, which is why you can respond with you "never hearing about Pokemon" in the beginning
the game says you're 15 so either counting DP or Pt the player can either be from 2011 or 2014 so those kind of phones could exist
You're second point kind of makes sense as it is a "Space-Time" rift so what's stopping you from coming from another dimension where Pokemon don't exist although then how are you so good at catching pokemon at the start of the game
Then again I think there's an appropriate answer to why Lucas/Dawn don't recognise anyone in the past, you see they're not the only one who travelled back in time there's another character(Ingo from Black/White) who also fell from the space-time rift and he doesn't retain his memories from the future so that could very well explain why Lucas/Dawn don't recognise anyone from the future
It's Lucas/Dawn from the future after DPPL/BDSP, so of course they can have a phone. Also, they have amnesia, just like Ingo. Clearly they remember nothing, and they look exactly like Dawn/Lucas. Hmmm....

The main reason why people consider Legend Arceus a great pokemon game since forever its because we got so many bad Pokemon games back to back , and we can all agree it started with around Gen 6 or Gen 7. This game was "ground breaking" for many Pokemon fans cuz you are encourage to explore more , find more pokemons , do the "Gotta catch them all" , do things outside the story to expand more , and even though the graphics look like "wii graphics and outdated", they are still better than what we got for Gen 8 and the remake of BD/SP.
In conclusion , is a very enjoyable game if you like exploring and have played games like Zelda Breath of the Wild or Monster Hunter. I personally find it on the right direction for Pokemon games after the fiasco of the last years.

It's not a full review this is just his thoughts about it and he is gonna make full review on this.
After watching your livestream and this first impressions I think the reason the large bulk of the fanbase disagrees at the moment is because they don’t have nearly the issue you have just clicking through the story. You’ll notice in Sun and moon when it first came out nobody complained about it. Then people started complaining when the replays started. And when everyone replayed it for USUM that’s when people really began to hate the early game for Sun and moon. This just isn’t an issue that most people will have on first playthrough cause usually Pokémon games have a sort of charm in their early hours with nostalgia of starting a Pokémon adventure. At least that’s the impression I get from other streamers. Really that’s what it’s like for anyone who doesn’t replay these games a lot. Another potential reason is that people aren’t looking for polish in their Pokémon games as much as they are looking for a memorable experience which despite its flaws legends is fairly memorable at least stacked up against literally any Pokémon game that isn’t your first.
I’d actually be really curious to see you make a video on two different subjects. The first is on what your ideal Pokémon game would be like within the bounds of what you can actually see happening in the near future. So nothing unrealistic but probably helpful like Gamefreak being taken out of the picture or slimming releases down to 1 every 4 years. The other topic I’d be curious to see you cover is why you still play the new Pokémon games beyond any traffic it generates to your channel. What are you still looking for in Pokémon that keeps you buying these games every time and going in relatively spoiler free as opposed to waiting till they come out to see what they are like or skipping multiple major releases to see larger blocks of improvements if you are lucky.
Naw the Pokémon fan base is just notoriously known for accepting mediocrity for a game. Like I fou d the same problems when I got this game. I was like 3 hours in and was wondering when does this game start. When can I explore this vast open road. Oh I gotta do it the way they want me too do it.
It isnt just Pokémon fans. A lot of gamers turn their brains off if a Japanese developer makes a game. And if a Dev from US, Canada, Europe etc did these same mistakes yall would be all on their ass. But Japanese devs tend to get a pass and are allowed to turn out trash and call it a product. Folks are just simping for Gamefreak at this point.

The game is basically just the safari zone in big with some story. Shouldn't cost more than $29.99 in my opinion. You really should start to play better games, if you think that's worth your time and money and stop the blind fanboyism for Game Freak.

If this game had a chance of wide range moves (surf, blizzard, etc.) hitting BOTH the pokemon and the trainer, it would make the game feel more intense.
Gyarados' entry at pokemon yellow tells it destroyed entire cities hahaha

They just circlejerk about triple A quality and think thats why they loved pokemon as kids when in reality we just liked the creatures and the world. Lots of overgrown adults with crippling depression that just rage at things not making them happy as they used to when they're the one's who've changed, not the games.
I feel that another game with these features that fits better with the traditional games would be more enjoyable for you. I find the catching and pokedex completion fun so I'm having a blast, but I can see why you're not enjoying it as much. I really hope GameFreak continues to build on what they established here.

Aside from the graphics, which I got used to after the first 2 hours or so, I am having more fun with this game than any of the mainline games since BW2. I understand its not for everyone and yes there are things that could/should have been better - but as far as I am concerned the 60 bux i payed were the most worth since 10 years or so.
The vibe with the wild being dangerous, the RPG-Elements with free exploration, the higher difficulty, with options to grind/rush- these are things that many fans have been craving for ages and now we finally got those! Most importantly, I believe, is that we can finally see innovation: If this style of Pokemon-Game is continued and improved upon then I can only see a bright future. Imo you cant even compare these to SwSh, they are totally different games.
Unfortunately, as we could see with this game and BDSP (and earlier games), the time-limits or time-managment must have not been amazing. But that probably wont change, will it?
I mean if people are more vocal is saying they need more time (many though seem oppose to it)...I'm fine with people buying this game for their effort but if the next game is again lagging behind then there has to be a line.
I think it has to do with the anime. Gen 8 was rushed out because the anime was moving on to the Galar region. If the game lags behind in development, everything gets messed up.
@@TuesdaysArt If you had been catching up, the anime has been diverging out of focusing on the new region, and making it more worldwide by going through different regions, also they do filler regions (like Orange Islands, Battle Frontier [return to Kanto] and Decolore Islands]) and I doubt they were planned.

God bored pretty early. I thought it was going to have a deep mature story. Mostly due to the fact it takes place in the past were humans and Pokémon aren't exactly on the best of terms. Boy was I WRONG... The story is weak as prior Pokémon games and no interesting characters in my opinion. I dropped the game but I'm enjoying the hell out of Digimon Survive. That's a game with a great story and characters 👏
My only real complaint is the graphics. Pokemon is fundamentally different from other open world games, so "just collecting pokemon" is actually okay, but there are some puzzles and better quests down the line. I've been as critical as you of recent Pokemon games, but while not stunning it's still a pretty good game.

@@exbla7080 It is open world in many aspects. It has open areas that are quite large, especially without a mount. I'd compare it more to the Xenoblade games outside of X which had open areas that worked like open worlds. Also, if we can consider Elder Scrolls games open world, when you have to load into houses, caves, and towns, then this can be considered open world.

Do I think it's a good idea to basically try and kill the first new steps into something new, something gamefreak hasn't really done in years? hell no, it would be a huge missed opportunity to try and trash a new attempt by gamefreak. I can tell you only just started playing the game because a) you're enjoying it and b) you think the side quests are unique. They're all repetitive, fill out a certain pokemon's pokdex page, bring a pokemon to me, go here press a come back, and find my sister. Play the game more before you think someone else's opinion is sad.

I'm having mixed feelings towards Legends Arceus. I feel like this games doesn't decide what they want the player to do. They keep giving me missions for the player to complete, moving the plot onward but those tasks and completing Pokédex keep me too busy, distracting me from the missions. And the I keep switching between doing the tasks/completing the Pokedéx and doing the missions but after doing one of them for hours the other one feels uninteresting, a chore or "fine, let's stop and come back to that OTHER important thing". It's like they compete for my attention and don't go hand on hand with eachother. In the other Pokémon games, you could complete your Pokedéx but the real main thing was to beat the gym and the Pokémon League, so you could try to focus on the Pokedéx after beating the game or trying to catch the Pokémon while going through place to place, but it LE, completing the Pokedéx is so much more important that it keeps distracting me from the main plot and/or the main plot of the game keep distracting me from completing the Pokédex
I feel the same way. And now after the reveal of Violet and Scarlet, I'm just unmotivated to play this game

The only real thing I hate about Legends Arceus is that you're forced to rank up your star rank in order to proceed in the story mode. I don't get why the star rank thing couldn't a side thing that doesn't force you to rank up in order to proceed in the story.
I guess the Star Rank is a replacement for gym badges but it's a very poor replacement and it makes me not want to play the game.
I agree it's so tedious. And you have to keep finding things to do just to get points and after you do eventually get them it just feels tiresome
I had no problems with the rank system because I was always at the rank I needed to be, if not higher. That was probably because I enjoyed capturing and researching and playing into that role, and earning the stars and later seeing what I needed them for made me feel like I was qualified to explore each area.
But I guess that it ends up being a kick to the balls if you rush through each area to do the main quest
You are forced to rank up because there is no content besides that, the story would be over in 4 hours if they didn't force you to fill the pokedex. It's honestly false advertisement to introduce these new combat styles only to throw battling out the window ona handful of trainer fights and not warn consumers this is a just 3D pokemon ranger.

I didn't like Arceus. I really wanted to, but I just couldn't. The core gameplay loop is actually decent, because the catching is honestly very fun and the best thing in the game. But that's is. The rest is absolutely terrible, so unbelievably bad I just couldn't bear myself to beat the postgame. It's honestly baffling to see the amount of "not care" GF had when developing this game. Let's just say the graphics are terrible, but that's not even the worst part- the environment are so bland, so empty, so boring I basically had to force myself to explore them. Caves and dungeons are TERRIBLE, my Infernape actually had glitching graphics when I was exploring them. The writing is also SO bad and the cutscene are of course unskippable (wow, they really had confidence in their work). Even the boss fight albeit interesting at least theoretically were so stupid.
Game had some positives but it's ultimately a rushed game that needed so much more polish, and it's basically a beta for Scarlet and Violet. It's now clearer than ever than GF alone can't work with 3D HD graphics. They need some serious help.
The catching mechanics look kinda fun, but I don't think the game as a whole looks good enough to justify a purchase from me.

I feel the exact same way, but in addition I dont like the story/dialogue, its not at all what I had hoped to happen, very little to do with Unown, Kamado just being the main story antagonist was extremely weak, plus his oddly modern but awkward dialogue at the end when you fight dialga/palkia. Those Origin Form designs look extremely weird, and don't match Giratina's Origin form at all.
Adaman and Irida constantly forcing the mention of "tIMe and VasTNeSs" was very annoying, and got stale very fast, bad writing. The Clans and galaxy interactions with each other is strange, they act all chummy and like they know each other one minute, but then the dialogue makes it out like they're constantly in a bitter rivalry, theres very little to back that up. Thats a major issue with Dialogue as well, "Pokemon are terrifying creatures, yet they dont act that much different than their contemporaries, and Cyllene always saying "Don't die" was very silly, trying to make everything sound darker than what is actually happening.
Lorewise there should be more towns to explore, Celesstic and Eterna City, and Oreburgh I believe should exist, Oreburgh having been the primary reason Jubilife city was built.
When you finally get to Arceus it just feels extremely lackluster and flat. I have seen fan versions of legends arceus that were more interesting than what was given.Why was the player character even necessary, the actual interesting part where Volo was after Arceus WAS much more interesting in addition to Giratina, but the execution is really bad. Plus, Giratina was banished for violence when the universe was forming (antimatter), and then just suddenly having a heel-face turn was really stupid. The solaceon ruins quote, with the unown had so much potenial in terms of story telling, it also reflects with how Unown function; more than 2 can basically bend reality to their whim, and with a game where Arceus is involved they would have been the perfect foil. They reference the HG/SS Sinjoh ruins but in a way that is infuriating; the floor of the hall of orifin, is the same as the alchemical symbology in the cutscene for when a new dialga/palkia/giratina get created.
I could go on and on, but really this game missed a massive mark in terms of story telling, and design, and a lot more. I am getting tired of this minimal effort, when the series has such huge and wonderful potential.
All the thing is is that this is based off of the Meiji restoration era.
The only thing that was around back then was Japanese settlements and the rest was forest inhabited by the Ainu.
I think it's fine not to like the game but I don't think we should call it rush or incomplete just because we're not a big fan of it
@@desdar100 I get it's based off the Meiji era, but it also goes against previously established lore. Plus, these other places wouldn't have to be big per say, just small but interesting settlements that act as mini town hubs or something.
Regarding the latter part, its about it feeling rushed, it feels hollow the way X and Y did. This had the ability to be a great game, but Gamefreak didn't go all the way. There are parts I like, but the negatives in my mind overshadow those.
@@TheloyalArcanine the issue though is that it's established that the DP Clans are the current indigenous people living there so they're basically like the Ainu.
These people lived in the wilderness and most of what we see of modern-day Sinnoh\ Hokkaido was only put there after it was fully colonized.
To be fair, a lot of the lore of the pre- BW game wasn't really set in stone and just acted as interesting tidbits speculate about but most of it has been either elaborated on or completely overridden in the present.
Also I I have to disagree about a feeling similar to XY.
Those games clearly needed a sister game to fix up any issues but this not being exactly how you wanted doesn't mean that it's rushed.
All it really means it's just that it wasn't your cup of tea

I personally think its an pretty good game thats fun in terms of the catching mechanics and a bunch of other stuff like shiny hunting but what blows my mind that some people are saying its the best story in a pokemon game…. Im 30 hours in and to me its nothing special and rips off botw heavy at the start.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is different from the past Pokemon games which is still good but right now I still have the biggest question 🤔is when will Pokemon Brillant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl have the fourth update patch so we can finally used the Wonder Trade and Global Trade Station (GTS). I know there's Link Trade but Wonder Trade is the most important part of the games and makes it a lot easier, I don't know why they're not added to the games before released back in November but I'm guess that with Pokemon Legend Arceus release that they wanted wait a bit longer before it's finally updated but I'm hoping it'll happen at the start of February because I'm getting fed up of waiting and because be worth it🤞. As for Pokemon Legends: Arceus I will planning to buy the game in the future after watching some UA-cam videos to get some ideas to what to expect in the game.
One thing I hate is that everyone looks like a character from gen 4 sinnoh, "Oh wow look at prof rowan with black hair, look at male Cynthia, literally captain Mars, Cyrus gender bend. And dumb people will say "OMG those are their ancestors" bro how is it that the ancestor of captain mars looks more like her than her mom, they just want to milk that nostalgia and not make new character models cause they are lazy.

I think we've grown into mediocrity that anything decent is amazing because this game is missing a lot of small things that prevents it from being a fun open section world.
Overall since it's Pokémon and haven't had a game like this it is amazing.

Love you but it really feels like you are trying to think of any small problems you have to try and make the game seem worse than it is. If these problems actually hurt your experience then I guess that's fair enough but idk they seem rather small. Also I think the cutscenes are used well, I think you just have a certain idea of how the flow of pokemon games are supposed to be so you just speed through cutscenes and get annoyed when the game doesn't suddenly completely stop having a story
I personally disagree. Now before any assumptions about me going "how dare you judge the game so early!" occur, I would like to say that 1. You are very fair with your critiques of what you've seen and 2. I'm fully aware that your opinions could change since you're only 7 hours in.
I do think that my two biggest problems I have are with the graphics and music. This looks like a Wii game and nothing about this world feels very grandiose at all. Almost nothing is polished here. The music whike good for stuff like battles and some areas sometimes just cut out and leave this slow piano. I know it's supposed to be atmospheric but when there's not much atmosphere to take in, it kinda just feels empty.
Now everything else I either enjoyed or it surpassed my low expectations. The story characters, while bare bones, didn't get on my nerves much at all. The catching mechanic is actually pretty neat and I think a better use of it than Let's go. I never really found the switch to turn based jarring at all and actually quite liked it. I'm not too mad about the side quests cause I find them a good distraction when I'm not trying get through the main missions too quickly.
Overall, I'd say I'm enjoying myself but still wouldn't call this great. It's certainly the most fun I've had with a recent Pokemon title in a while but that bars not exactly high.
I agree. The game, as unpolished and underdeveloped it is, manages to be a pretty fun experience, and definitely the best Pokémon game for a while (2nd best 3D Pokémon, ORAS is still better imo)

i enjoy it as a “turn your brain off” sorta game, which is my favourite kind of game lmao. the kind you can unwind and space out playing for hours after a long and draining day, just doing tasks and whatnot. kinda like animal crossing. i think it’s sorta overhyped, but it’s charming, and the formula has some potential :^)

I think I can summarize my complaints with the game by saying : that the game is horribly designed visually , mechanically and narratively.
-Visually because everything is bland including its hub area.
-Mechanically because it feels like they didnt push enough into the aspects of the game that made it unique
-Narratively because the story feels more like a second thought than any primary form of engagement .

I enjoyed the conversation, the cutseances if you could call them than, and the story, so it didn’t feel as terrible to me. Also, I enjoyed the catching of Pokémon, for more than an hour, and didn’t feel the grind. I mean people are different in what one enjoys, I guess. I do agree mostly with all the points. but honestly, I had a lot of fun, and felt invested in the game, story, and gameplay. It can always be better; however, it didn’t feel as a train wreak or disaster to me xd. Lastly it might also be becouse i had little exspecations, and were used to their standard games, so when this came out, it felt new, fun and great, might be if i replay it in a year, i might change my view. (I do get the game is very flawed and deserved more work, but at some point feels as this is the same with every game and company who makes games, somethimes you just give up and want to enjoy stuff instead of otherwise always.)

I’m always really curious to see viewpoints on this. Mostly because when it comes to games all I really care about is having fun playing it myself. If someone happens to dislike or strongly like some thing that I just enjoy that’s fine. I actually love Jen sevens games even though a lot of people aren’t the biggest fans. Thank you! You sumed up my exact thoughts about this game! The core gameplay of this game is catching and exploring, but they dont give you much reason to do those things. The only thing you need pokemon for is to catch even more pokemon. There are no gyms, a rival, a league or a battlefrontier to actually use these pokemon. Yes those things grew stale in past games, but there was a reason they existed. Pokemon had a purpose in those games.
Same goes for the exploration. Not only is there almost nothing to find and almost no verticality, you can barely interact with the world too. Throwing a pokeball at a tree or a rock is just a fancy way to pick up items. For a game so similar to Monster Hunter and BOTW, there is zero actual action in this except the Boss fights were you just throw sacks. You cant do anything except throw stuff in this game. Imagine how awesome it would be if you could actually control the pokemon in this and battle other pokemon this way or use them to solve environmental puzzles.
I can understand that most people just love catching pokemon and find it intrinsically fun. So I'm glad people are actually having fun with pokemon again. But for the future I dont think we should send out the signal that this is all we want in pokemon. This is neither a quality RPG nor a good action exploration game in my opinion. My fear is that Gamefreak will now just make a new bare minimum open world every two years, drop some pokemon into it and call it a day. Why make towns and intricate dungeons when people are satisfied with this? I really hope I am wrong about this though.

Makes it hard to get to attached to a design when there's barely any trainers to battle and no guarantee of them being available in a future title.

I played 20+ hours of this game and i really tried to like it but... I am regretting every minute i spent with it. This game is so boring and restrictive it`s actually shocking.
The battle system is so watered down that it comes down to "use strong attack with fast Pokemon",it is ugly as sin and completing the Dex-enties is just busywork.
I do not understand how people criticized SW/SH for removing features, bad graphics and incomplete pokedex but defending this game even though it is worse in all these points. Also people are saying:"yes, it is boring but it is a good foundation..." .You payed 60 bucks for this and are okay with just a "foundation"?

Imo Legends is the kind of game Monster Hunter and/or Pokemon Go players would like, not hardcore Pokemon fans. I admit it's an improvement compared to the other games since SM, but come on. Does anyone genuinely think someone who's favorite Pokemon game is Platinum is gonna like Legends?

I love Monster Hunter and legends took all those elements and then made it difficult for me to enjoy the game at my leisure and forced me through bullshit tutorials for 2 hours. I haven't touched legends since then. It's been an entire week now.

That is, until they decide to make a mainline Pokemon game with mandatory set mode, zero tutorials, and no exp share.
I haven't fully finished it yet, but I'm guessing I'm almost done with at least the main story. My feelings are that this is the kind of Pokemon game I have wanted for over 20 years. The fact that I can choose to throw out any Pokemon I want into a battle, or catch a Pokemon out in the wilderness just by throwing a Pokemon at it while it's unaware of me, is exactly what the Anime showed me over 20 years ago. It's mechanically the perfect Pokemon game, and even the people who don't like it generally still praise the gameplay mechanics and say it's the direction the future of the series should head.
That said, I fully understand all the complaints, and can see why some might not like this specific game overall. The graphics are nothing special at all, there should be more trainer battles IMO, and I'd hope future games in this style have a lot more towns you can visit. That said, I love the game a lot. It's probably the most fun I have had with an RPG since Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and easily the most fun I have had with a Pokemon game since the original Diamond. I only loved that game due to friends at school, and the various multiplayer features that game had at the time.
I agree with you as a kid I used to dream for a Pokémon game like this but thought we'd never get it. Hell they stopped making 3d games after the game cube games for like 10 years. This game blew my mind sure I saw the flaws right off the bat but I didn't care I felt like a kid again. The catching system is easily best in the entire series, they finally got Pokémon sizes right. I loved feeling tiny in comparison of some of my mons. The music was good per usual, the alpha mons were a neat idea which felt like the one episode when they grew super big. Might have the best boss battle yet I like how it was 3 stages.
This is good ground work for the next game if they fix up a few things like the lack of trainer battles, held items, stat changing moves, abilities, gym/elite 4,(I want to feel a sense of hierarchy of skill with trainers like in the old games, the protagonist should be recognized as the strongest person at the end of the game), voice acting(I think it's finally time for va, I loved the story but it could have been delivered better with good vo) boom perfect Pokémon game.
My opinion on people saying that this game is boring or awful is that it's coming from a very specific nich of jaded Pokémon fans who are no longer able to appreciate or enjoy a Pokémon game. If you spend your last 5-10 years disliking anything that Pokémon had to offer (starting from X/Y) and going off with extensive essays about how bad Pokémon and Pokémon games are, there's a good chance that it's going to affect how you perceive the new games and prevent you from appreciating the good that a game has to offer.
All of this was a generic "you", because I'm talking about people I personally know and aren't necessarily Youtbers who post 1h video essays on why Sword&Shield are the worst Pokémon games ever, but who became so jaded with the series and Game Freaks that the moment you mention "Pokém..." they already turn green. How can a person like that possible and genuinely go into a new Pokémon game unbiased and curious to play ?
Pokémon Legends Arceus is by no mean a perfect game. It has a lot of cons, and some edges are very rough. But complaining about e.g. NPC's in a Pokémon game is ridiculous: NPC's have never done anything interesting in the main series, ever (only that town in Black&White where NPC's go home at night, but if you stay out, they won't automatically go home). Is it cute that NPC's in Breath of the Wild go to sleep ? Yes. Is it a necessity for me to enjoy the game ? Of course not. Besides, you must have not paid attention or played enough, because the town evolves, new NPC's arrive, so it's not as dead as you picture it.
I'm not at all saying that you HAVE to like the game. It's a very repetitive (not necessarily boring) gameplay, and fetch requests and catching Pokémon may not be for everyone's entertainment. As for me, I haven't started to feel bored yet, and I've played extensively since Friday and I haven't even finished the main story (and I've heard that the post game is quite good). But this game is a HUGE step forward for Game Freak, not only "a small step in the right direction". The battle system has been revolutionised (turn-based, the whole move-pool, changing malus, strong vs. fast techniques), the areas are huge (think of roads between cities in a 9th generation game which are ¼ of these areas, it would be a blast), the possibilities are infinite. And what do people who spent a huge chunk of time complaining ? Focus on "NPC's who aren't moving". It just shows how jaded you are, and how unable you became to enjoy a Pokémon game which, like ANY game out there, has its flows. It's like saying that BotW is boring because there aren't that many monster variations. Is it true that there aren't many monster variations ? Yes. Does it make BotW a bad game ? No, of course.
So yeah, is Pokémon Legends Arceus a 10/10 ? No, it has big flaws that need be fixed (in a next game, probably). Is it a 0/10 as some say ? No, that's ridiculous. If you want to give it a bad score, I'd say a 5/10 would be fair, but I'd easily give it a 7 or 8/10. It was (and still is) a breath of fresh air for the Pokémon franchaise and I hope they listen to objective and grounded critics and produce something big next time. We went from the wild areas to this, and you're still unhappy. At this point I'm afraid you're so jaded that it's basically become impossible to win some fans over (meaning: it's NATURAL for people to change their tastes and move on. Game Freak doesn't have to allign to EVERYONE's tastes).
I honestly don't get the hate for Gen 6. It definitely could have been executed better, but I honestly felt like my money would have been better spent buying X/Y than it was on Sword + DLC. The mechanics I've seen in ORAS and the small bits I've seen of the game honestly don't seem that bad.

I personally am having a lot of fun with this game. Catching a ton of one kind of Pokémon and completing the dex is something I used to do as a kid and having that feeling come back in a new way made me enjoy this game so much more. The lack of trainer battles was alright because most of the time I was exploring and or battling alphas & the battles felt alright. After completing the game u have a few more challenges to face which honestly is a lot of fun and challenging, something I haven’t felt since gen 3.
I hope game freak just continues with this direction but expands upon what they’ve already created^^

It’s still filled with all the same problems as the last as my biggest gripe with the game is that you need save data from BDSP to access Darkrai and Shaman, and furthermore, to complete the post game and get the final ending.
So in summary, to play all the content in Pokémon Legends Arceus, you need to spend £80, at minimum. Bullshit.

It is a step in the right direction, but a step isnt much when there's a mile to go.
To be fair, it's a REALLY big step, normally gamefreak just copy and pastes the same game with a new coat of paint for the past 25 years so seeing them actually make a new game from scratch with new concepts and mechanics for once is pretty cool.
Haven’t played a Pokémon game since GBA sapphire/ruby and I have to say it has its faults but it is very good imo. My only problems I’ve had is catching Pokémon flying super high up and visually seeing Pokémon in water/tall grass. Also there really should be a compass or some kind of minimap to give you a sense of direction without needing to look at the map 24/7

Well, they move differently based on how different they are. Like, a Gyrados and a Pikachu uniquely move based off their different bodies.
@@ZeroShaneBob this is not really New for this game. As far as i can tell, the pokemon already moved differently in pokemon lets go. Still nothing i would call a unique behavior. In my mind, they would interact with the World in unique ways. Like maybe starlys sit in trees, looking for neaby bug types to ambush them for Food or even ambush you, to catch you off guard. Maybe more aggressive pokemon would attack other pokemon, so when you engage the other pokemon, they are already weakened and easier to catch. Something like this is, what i would call unique behavior

I feel like the pokemon tasks are awful. I like a lot but I am just not motivated to catch a bidoof 12 times. Just padding to make hunting dumber.
You don't have to catch a Bidoof 12 times, though... you can defeat a Bidoof, or use Rollout with it 3 times, or evolve it. Completing every single task is not mandatory. You only need to complete 10 of them (and the red task are worth double, so you can actually just do less tasks if you choose the most valuable ones first). Completing all tasks is only worthwhile for shiny hunters.
Feel like this game is missing two out of three pillars.
Battles and exploration/puzzles.

But in all seriousness, I quite enjoyed this game. It was the breath of fresh air (not of the Wild) the franchise so desperately needed. Loved the concept of Pokemon actually attacking me, I can dodge them, throw stuff to/at them, much more accessible shiny hunting for filthy casuals like me, etc I'd take Legends games over the traditional games any day of the week.
Especially if they don't bring back Toby Fox. Quit bringing him back and leave him alone to do his own stuff. Pokemon doesn't need his ass for publicity because they already have the entire world's publicity, being the largest grossing media franchise ever.

I find it funny how people keep proclaiming this with absolutely no proof. It's just a word constantly thrown around when its not the game they want and it ALWAYS comes from armchair developers. In reality, every game in existence is unfinished once you realize every game project has to cut content. But I guess its just cool to be a hater and stick it to the man cuz you want more free content but then whine about games talking too long to release lmao
What exactly about those games make it unfinished? It's not like most of them are unfinished to the point of them being broken and unplayable.

Bruh… It’s not all about the story lmao. It’s about riding wydeer, the joy and excitement of riding through the land. And dismounting to summon pokemon to break ore and gather barries from trees, then rolling and mounting wydeer again. Dashing infront of wild pokemon, and sneak back attack for first hit encounter. It’s also about farming for the best natures for physical and special. Timid and jolly, and farming alphas that don’t have the nature u want. To release them and get grits to make ur pokemon effort stats stronger. Cmon man! Cmon!
Hmmm I’ve agreed with every single video up until this point. Sorry man but I’m loving this game so much. I feel like a kid again. I never had doubts about it from day 1.
I kinda like Arceus because it strays away from the 'battle gym leaders and defeat the champion' formula

Ways to improve the game
Have a subplot where some characters are seeking to build a new town(or town expansion project). Many villagers are highly distrustful of Pokemon, with only specialized clans/seasoned adventurers being brave enough to have one. The player must catch pokemon to help with certain tasks(cutting trees, moving rocks etc) and most importantly completing quests for the townsfolk while being followed by their chosen starter. And the townspeople interacting with this young outsider begin to realize that Pokemon aren't just monsters, and that its possible to live with them in peace and harmony. And slowly you begin to see more pokemon appear in town. Maybe one of the buildings we help create turns out to be Sinnohs first gym.
And as the game ends you see the way your thinking has rippled outwards. You see a boy who was formerly terrified of pokemon and refused to leave the house now roams the town with his shinx, A young woman brought by her Fiancee(now husband) rocks her baby with the chimeco you found for her wedding singing a lullaby. An old man laughs as the starly that was once a pest now helps him pick berries from the high branches. A small toddler learns to walk with thelp of a buneary while a glameow keeps a watchful eye atop a wall. A Man tired from working asks his chimchar to help make a small bonfire to roast sweet potatoes and his buddies and their pokemon come to join in. And then after a final pan around the town you zoom in to see two children, a boy and a girl, go up to the professor and ask him what kind of pokemon they should start with so they can go out and adventure. And he says, well I have these 3 pokemon....
That would be great where part of your mission is to build up Sinnoh's foundations to what we have now.

I thought I was going crazy with everyone loving this game and saying "it's the best Pokemon game ever" whilst I thought it was a boring price of shit.
You hit every point on the head precisely what my issues with it were in this video and probably going to go re play XD now instead
Imagine being so complacent and so desperate for literally any form of innovation that a game, which doesn't even come close to an accurate portrayal of the place it's based on, is missing 660 moves, has graphics that are worse than a 5 year old game that released with the Switch and suffers from some serious clipping issues is enough to earn the praise "best Pokémon game in a while."
I'm glad I didn't buy this. It looks like trash. "A step in the right direction" isn't a justified reason for the game to be entirely lackluster. There's nothing new about this game. Countless games have mounts and resource collection. Maybe it's new to Pokemon, but it's all old ideas. WOW, you crouch in grass!? Holy smokes I never heard of sneak mechanics in a game. I can't forgive the horrible graphics anymore, I refuse to spend money on it.
Map and environments are empty and repetitive - may as well have just drawn it on photoshop and laid it out on a random terrain generator...
Optimization is poor - draw distances, rendering, frame drops etc.
Art direction is horrid and is only worse when added with the above two points.
Research is tedious, repetitive and meaningless.
Side quests are tedious, repetitive and meaningless.
Cutscenes with dialogue had no voice acting, animation or anything that resembled a cutscene - may as well just have cardboard cut-outs moving the mouth up and down.
Tutorials are unnecessary and a waste of time.
Story is generic and baby preschool time - may as well been written by a high school student.
The only reason people are not taking the above points seriously and instead giving this game absurdly high scores is because they like the new combat mechanics and action RPG gameplay style.
Just because that makes Pokemon games better doesn't mean it should get high praise, it should still be critiqued fairly. Considering the negatives outweigh the positives, I would still be extremely generous by saying it deserves a 5/10. It's average, plain and simple.
Hell no dude, this game is an 8/10 at the very least. Get your priorities straight.

I honestly wasn’t a big fan of this game either. A good chunk of the characters are really unlikeable, the “rival” is absolutely useless, I don’t like the concept of Arceus just handing u a phone upgrade and bringing u back in time cause like what? I also didn’t like how the game has a lot of breath of the wild similarities. Also, the new battle style I think is a downgrade, cause fast Pokémon can get up to 5 hits a turn with agile style and high speed stats. The side quests are repetitive and unoriginal, the graphics aren’t really that good, and my least favorite thing of this game is the boss fights. Idk what it is, but it doesn’t feel like Pokémon in the slightest. It feels like a typical rpg, and nothing like Pokémon or what an ideal version of Pokémon would be. I get that this game is probably just an experiment, but it doesn’t feel like a Pokémon game. All in all, the plot was rushed and repetitive, half the game was a breath of the wild copyright, the characters weren’t special, the new battle aspects weren’t enjoyable, and the music wasn’t anything special to me either. It just didn’t feel right at all, and I only kept at it till I finished was cause i felt like I had to
The game is unfinished and ugly but I looove the concept and I cant stop playing. I really hope they expand on this concept and make something great in the next installment.

I'll be completely honest. I feel exactly like you do. And by exactly, I mean exactly.
There's nothing to do except solve bad fetch quests and run around catching or looking for littered items.
That's it.
After completing this game within 2 days of it coming out, I find it quite boring too in my opinion!
There's not much to do after completing it except from catching the rest of the Legendaries, the Willowisps and unknown and to complete the Pokedex which I've already done. Nintendo definitely rushed this game but that's my opinion!

Pretty sure they're giving up on this game and going forward with Scarlet/Violet. Hopefully they'll over-deliver on the next game pair instead of watering it down with back and forth tasks.
The post game in Arceus is the worst. I wish you could build things with objects like housing... something interactive in a way that spends minutes on end with creativity.
1. Every game has tutorials.
2. Cutscenes can be compiled in a 20 minute video and the game is like 60 hours. If you're not rushing through the game you won't care about the cutscenes.
3. Side quests are completed naturally by exploring the game normally. They never make you go out of their way to catch Pokémon or get items you wouldn't normally, outside of a few ones.
I feel almost the same as you. The game has some interesting ideas and is a step forward for the series, but I don't think those things alone are enough to make up for the rather barren, repetitive experience. My score for this would be either a 6 or 7/10. I would love to see this concept expanded upon and given a longer development time.

I've watched the entire playthrough of this game and I'm trying to figure Where it's fun and "The Best Pokémon Game EVER!!"..
3-5hrs of cutscene, hand holding and tutorial that everyone Hated in S&M but all of a sudden adore now..
People hate grinding in Pokémon games (I don't. That's the best part. Raising a team), but they all of a sudden enjoy grinding in this game..
There's nothing in the world other than scattered Pokémon, basically, Wild Area 3.5...
Don't get me started on the graphics and artstyle that all of a sudden, doesn't matter.
We're talking about the biggest franchise in the world who are incapable of developing a Good open world Pokémon experience similar to the anime, instead they give the Stan's a GameCube version that should've been out 8yrs ago, and Everybody loves it??!!!
The lies Poketubers and Pokestans tell themselves is like watching the ignorance of the world today with mandates and such.
Pokémon games will stay dead and dying as long as Pokestans and Poketubers continue to buy these poorly developed and unsurprisingly shite games.
This is exactly what I'm talking about, calling this game "dead" is so negatively biased that one can't take this comment seriously. Is the game perfect in every matter ? No, it has deep flaws that are sometimes embarrassing, like some pixels going berserk around the character, which is unexcusable of a company with the resources Game Freak has access to. But does it make the game unplayable ? No.
As for the gameplay, I can assure you that I was sceptical myself before playing it, but then I've found out that running around those huge areas wasn't that boring, nor is catching every Pokémon in sight. Grinding doesn't feel as bad because the battle system is new, fresher, and more flexible, some of my favourite features being the possibility to start battles with any Pokémon in your team and the new move system, which allows for rearranging them at your will.
Again, I'm not saying you HAVE to like a game, you can personally find it boring or not your style, but the fact that some jaded fans have ended up settng up impossibly high standards is more on themselves rather than Game Freak. Asking for "an open world experience like the anime" is simply ridiculous, anime and videogames are two different media, and demanding such a depth in a franchise that never looked to be THAT detailed is insane, and maybe it's time for some people to stop hating on Pokémon games and start playing and loving franchises that satisfy their needs (if there's any, at this point).
@@francescoghigo8394 It isn't unplayable, but why shouldn't our standards be like how we see Nintendo games, somewhere we can brag to other companies that this is top class if not the best. My issue is I do think this is a great Pokemon game, but Platinum/B2W2 and such. Still a part of me feels it can't be compared, seeing how different they are IMO. Maybe can compared with XD and Collosseum, I guess may have surpassed them (although the 2 are closer to the main games with their battles).
I will say my issue it feels boring and needs more pace breakers. The early hours having to go back to that cliff route is a bit off, although I wonder if it's just the consequence of the side quest. It was a relief when he FINALLY gotten close to Solaceon with the new deserty biomes. I will say about grinding, I do wonder at what point it won't get old - I guess it's streamlined now, but I wonder if it's enough to hold attention if that's all you do for the most part.
@@zjzr08 I personally don't see the point of bragging to others about the games you like, honestly. If you can't enjoy a game without slapping it on others' face, I guess that's your problem, not Game Freak's.
As for the gameplay, again, it's absolutely fair to personally find it boring or not engaging. I found it ok, you didn't, it's not objective. I had fun coming back with new Pokémon to help me explore and I didn't have issues with the few things to do (fetch requests, exploration, completing the Pokédex, a little grinding here and there, especially needed only for the end of the main story). We don't need to agree that the game is a 10/10. But "repetitive" doesn't mean "boring". Plenty of games can have few things to do but still be fun to play.
@@francescoghigo8394 Not sure what's bragging about saying what games I expected should be a good standard for Pokemon in terms of care of content and gameplay being put on. I'm fine with the gameplay, just saying there should more to it than that. SwSh should be as fun as other Pokemon games, the process of capturing and battling has been moslty the same with some twists. But the things surrounding it aren't and the expectations of how much content should be on there I think is fair should be met. The framework of Legends Arceus is great, but is really just scratching the surface, compared to other games with similar premises. Great start, but as a product is just OK and IMO is currently overpraised.

As for SwSh and Arceus, I totally agree that these aren't the best, but the jump in quality from SwSh is clearly there, and Arceus is a very interesting turn that hopefully they'll keep working on. Would it have been great if they worked on it 1-e more years and it came out with a lot more content and fixes ? Of course, ANY product will result in a better version of itself if you give it more time and care. But this is a good Pokémon game and we know that Game Freak has always worked with half-baked Pokémon games that got improved generation after generation. You've brought up Platinum and B2W2 and guess what ? They're the sequel of their generation's games, GF worked upon Diamond&Pearl and BW. Not saying it's the way companies should work, but why pretend it's never been like that ?
