The sound you’re hearing in the verse riff is with an effects device known as a “talkbox”. It is like an effects pedal insofar as it has an on/off switch that is foot-activated, but also has a tube leading from it and into the guitarist’s mouth (which would have been the mouth of Richie Sambora, the lead guitarist at the time). Richie made mouth shapes into the tube and that allows his instrument to mimic speech sounds, leading to the effect you’re hearing.
The band also used a talkbox in their songs _This is Love, This Is Life_ and _It’s My Life._
I seen them on this concert tour back in the 80's when i was 12 years old. Been in love with them ever since, lol. Great reaction!! 😊

1986 slippery when wet album. Other songs react from that album you give love a bad name and wanted dead or alive. Jon didn't want it on the album he thought it wasn't good. Band was able to get it on rest is history

In 1986 I was 9 years old and when I heard Slippery when wet I went crazy, Bon Jovi became my favorite band in the whole World, now Im 46 and it brings so much Joy and good memories ❤❤❤

this was the first bon jovi song i ever heard in the uk.along with the album slippery when wet i believe is what made them famous outside of the US.
the lead singer jon bon jovi is 63 now.i think he was 25 here.he's still georgous.
