    You and your brother always have great insights to share, along with a whole bunch of fun. A friend of mine who is a professional mechanic that works on off-road vehicles exclusively, recommends reinstalling that top plastic piece that you discarded. Instead, cut an access hole to reach the winch. The reason for this is that this piece of plastic helps to direct outside air through the radiator and prevents picking up hot air from the engine bay. Your truck, your choice.

      Great timing on that question, I’m actually sitting in a hospital bed (no worries). I’ve had two infections attached to the hardware in my knee; one plate was removed in March, the one remaining one yesterday. Now six weeks of antibiotics and I’ll be good to go. Thanks for checking in 🙌😊

      The bumper is only ~70 lbs, but the winch and light bar add a little more. All in it’s probably around 100 lbs. That amount, in my opinion, does not require heavy duty springs.

    Hey. Great video. What is the main point if these side “wings”? Are they really protecting? I know you already offroaded with this setup, how did you like it? I just think such side high clearance parts are usually heavy and expensive. And still require skid for water tank on a right side. I just wonder of your opinion about how protective and necessary these parts are. Some people just cut and use molding. Having the same or better approach angle and less added weight. What do you think?

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  6 місяців тому

      They add additional protection, however, they are heavy and wouldn’t categorize them as necessary. 👍🏻

      I can see my winch’s clutch lever through my bumper, so I knew where to make the access hole. The first one was a bit small, so I enlarged it until I was happy. I used a small Dremel Tool.

    Ok dumb question but do you clean your hood insulation pad? Yours is WAY cleaner than mine and I'm pretty sure y'all go offroad more than I do.

    • @aired-downoverland9239
      @aired-downoverland9239  Рік тому

      Nope, not once. Do you run skid plates? I’m sure they keep some of the gunk from splashing all the way up to the liner. IF I were going to clean mine, I’d probably spray it with Simple Green, then hit it with a hose/spray tip; I wouldn’t use a pressure washer unless you start far away.

    • @TrailTape
      @TrailTape Рік тому +1

      @@aired-downoverland9239 Yeah I have RCI skids. I guess it's just from me hitting more mud puddles then, and probably too quickly at that. My hood insulation is fairly orange from the red clay mud we have in the South. Thanks for replying!
