About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. We dream that someday we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm. - Розваги
After 28 days of asking we finally got him. Thanks so much Morgan for Toby McQuacker. It’s been such a journey waiting for each video to comment as SOON as possible. Such a cute duck!
Alberta canada had a frost warning just two days ago
Just a word of warning. I watch many farming channels, most farmers warn they’re more likely to be hurt by hand raised ‘gentle’ bulls than any other. They’re stronger and don’t have boundaries. Please be careful.
I was about to say the same. I grew up with cattle, and even though the bull is friendly when they are young. Its a different story when the testosterone is getting high, the animal get big, and they are the alpha, and so on.. My advice is always have a planned escape route, know their bodylanguage and always keep close attention. This is important for all cattle, but especially with bulls.. Love your channel, just a heads up :)
Same goes for cows, it is nice to have friendly cows but they really don’t understand how big they are, biggest thing to remember is to never pet/stroke their heads, it will lead to head butting, best to have them well socialised but not overly
I was just about to say the same thing! They have no respect for your personal space and also they have no fear going after you when the ladies go into heat
@@eleanorcorner6862 head butting will be dangerous especially with these cattle!
Yes ! A Hereford that was raised from a calf almost killed a chap I worked alongside during the summer holidays, when I was still a schoolboy. That morning, it barred his exit from a field and the only way he survived was by wrestling it by its nostrils. He was bloodied in the face and in a fair amount of discomfort in the rib/chest area. He had the animal put down immediately.
One day a few months ago the light bulb came on in my brain. I finally realized why you name your male calves short lived rocker names. I like that you honor each cow with a name.
Allison got a sweet look on her face when checking out da piggies. I think she might want piggies next!❤️❤️❤️
Oh oh, I thought the same thing..
Tree pruning would be cool to see. I might get inspired to plant a fruit tree in my yard. I only have scrub oaks, crape myrtles and one bay laurel
Maybe when a carcass of your poultry ... grind the bone and flesh in a meat grinder
and dig like 3 to 5 feet below the ground and dump them tthen cover with soil ... as natural fertilizer
about few metre around the trees & roots
And would you address the hawthorns? If any did/had survived you would be harvesting!
It's good to see you and Allison enjoying yourselves. Allison is a good sport for being in the video. She has got a beautiful warm smile. Your bull calf is adorable. Will be a great addition to the farm.
My niece and nephew bought a highland calf and treated him like a puppy - he was very very friendly. He literally would run up to you like a dog when you pulled into their yard. At 2 years old he ran full speed ahead to my nephew and tossed him so far up in the air he landed and broke both arms. After that they tried to pen him up Instead of letting him run free. He had none of it and broke out every night running the street, banging down their front door etc etc. it got very dangerous. They finally had to get rid of him.
@@robynwilson842 -Yep, two to three years old and all their hormones set in.
I'm happy that you and Allison have returned to good health and had a great time at the fair. Your new bull calf looks fantastic.
Try making some apple butter. Small batches are best. Yummy Yum Yum! The farm is looking real good, too! If you have enough beeswax, how about making candles along with soap? A combination of candles and soap packages would make great holiday gifts.
Please continue to educate us on your orchard hills. Im curious about the process and how its going. Ive been watching since day one and the trees are not mentioned about much. I live in orchard hills in Orange County and have no knowledge other than the fact they grow oranges.
I agree
the plants should get more spotlight :)
Definitely would like an update on your trees. Do you scatter the types of trees or do you place them near like types
"Brave souls riding the rickety carnival rides"... my thoughts exactly.
Loved to see a video about trees!!! More varity is alway appreciated.
I'd love to see how you prune fruit trees.
You're doing great, Morgan. Best to you and Allison.
Morgan , Would love to see videos about the orchard. Wow, Volunteer apple tree and volunteer bees. quite wonderful blessings. Take care friend.
I love to watch all the little things you do for your farm. It is soothing. I would love to see a pruning video. Please teach me when and how to prune. I might learn something.
I can't believe anybody would question your allegiance to your animals??? I think you are so kind and respectful of them.
Lol I totally remember when they came to the farm, they’ve come a long way😁
My brother went to the fair. He said it is smaller than in pre covid years. It is still wonderful. It will take some years before it rebuilds to its pre covid levels. I usually entered my bread, which I baked on my Sunny Glenwood wood stove. Lots of us entered items because we felt we all were part of helping our fair. So Morgan, think about helping by entering items next year.
I’m always down for learning more about trees and forests
And?
Yes! Pruning video please!
@@kelseydalziel3514 wrong.
Wonderful video. So much Allison and her A+ smile. Love her braids.
I always love seeing Allison she always brings a smile to my face. She just seems like such a lovely person.
Seriously, you can talk about anything and I'll listen.
You're like that friend who calls and simply talks about his day and what's going on in his life, what plans he has, etc... I always enjoy your calls! 😊
Dammm...... Guess we have this in common
exactly , like I just am here either at late night to early morning just enjoying the dude talking about his bulls and farm and I'm like the video could be 10 hours long I'd still watch it
tho I don't feel the sane about ever topic , some stuff I usually don't wanna hear being talked about at all xD so yeh uh I guess I will only listen to what's interesting I'd assume most of u are like that ?
I think you had the best luck with getting that bull calf, I really hope he benefits the barn in the best way possible.
I would like to see you pruning the tree. Excited for this video!
Yes. Pruning is good.
I'd like to hear the story of the Chestnut trees. How are they immune from the blight? Another theme that would be super popular would be the relationship between your two dogs.
Having your bull at the state fair is excellent training, like giving a puppy the most diverse experiences possible.
the following drone footage is so good
I'm going to miss Kurt. He's got a nice personality. I hope your new bull calf doesn't give you trouble. Be careful when the cows are in heat as he may become difficult to handle.
Love the dead rock star naming convention lol. Lessons all around
Hi Morgan and Allison! It's always nice when Allison pops into a video. Though I understand it not really being your thing. I'm more of a behind the camera person too. I picked up one of your tshirts you mentioned in your last video, looking forward to that. In regards to what videos to make, I think you could film just about anything and people would tune in. It's your personality, animals and the beauty of Vermont that I enjoy. Have a great day!
Here in Georgia we had the same problems with fruit trees. I was going to make Autumn Olive jelly like last year but there was only about a dozen berries when there were hundreds last time. Good to see you up and about after being sick. Good luck and stay safe with the new bull!
it's like a new 27 club, love Abby chasing the drone 9.55
Please show us how you prune and care for the fruit trees!
I like your philosophy of love and respect for the food animals. You are a good farmer and a great person.
Morgan,
Please look at the reply to my comment. Did you write that or do you have a spammer pretending to be you?
yessss!! i would love to see a video about pruning trees!!!
Great video, Morgan! Thanks, Allison, for being in the video. You have a beautiful smile and your braids look pretty!
Yes, definetly a video about pruning trees! For obvious reasons the fauna of your farm usually get's the spotlight but as someone who is into horticulture, I would also like to see how you go about this side of your little eco system. 🙂
Listening to you makes me realize that I could never have even a small farm. I could do a "hobby" farm where nobody has to go to the processor. I understand why it has to happen but I'm definitely not cut out for it!
we tried it 25 years ago but after feeding them and seeing them grow we had 1 lunch with our chickens we realised that is not going to work. I only kept them as pets after that!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi.... Morgan, thank you for showing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 👕🐔🐓🐣🐥🐩🐈🐄🐝🌱🏡🎥👍👍👍
Godilove your aerial footage, so fun and so pretty ✨
It always makes me smile when Alfred shows up and his theme song plays :) It would be nice to hear the full song.
I love learning about the trees, I will consume whatever you make about them.
Morgan, you and Allison have come a long way and are doing a great job on your farm. Good video.
You’re doing a great job, desensitizing Abby to the birds, lots of praise!!! I know it’s hard to record but I’d like to see more training videos. Thank you!
When you render the suet, remember to do it outside with good ventilation. Suet is nasty because it evaporates and sits around. When you turn off the heat, it will start condensing on all your surfaces and when you go to clean it, you need to scrape it off all your cabinets etc.
I have to watch Ferdinand again lol
I think that'd be a great name for the little guy, too! 💜
Edit: I hope we get a Frank and Bean shirt!
I suggested that name when he first saw him.big flower lover. Lol
So happy to see Allison and you out enjoying yourselves.
I get a kick every time I hear the “my buddy Alfred” song 🎶.
Aloha bah 🤙🏾
Manny da Manster on da Northshore 🌊🏄♂️ Oahu
I really enjoy watching you all and it reminds me of the way that my family used to raise Scottish highland cattle! We started in Washington state and our lead Cal was a Washington state champion and she was AI inseminated to an international champion and we got a beautiful mahogany brindle bowl out of our red lead cow! He was bucking all over the place before he was even knee-high and I wrote the little guy to tame him! He became a freight train and lived almost 15 years before we put him in the freezer! He was the tastiest beef my children said they had ever eaten! We loved him dearly and he was like a giant puppy dog and would load up in any trailer and we could deliver him for both service to our friends! We took our cattle and set up at the fair is just like you!
Morgan, I ordered a Scottish Highland Kurt Cobain Tee Shirt in 3 XL off of you 3 days ago and can't wait to receive it! Thanks so much for having bigger sizes of apparel, and of course your farm updates.
How could you tell what the measurements were? B-Unlimited never posts sizing info.
@@mmegraham I don't know about exact specifics but the shirts are pretty much true to size. Just order your usual size (if you American). Not sure how the sizes if you are ordering internationally.
@@mmegraham personally for my sizing of clothes is usually spot on, if not I will frame this awesome Tee Shirt as a piece of art as I believe it is. I never return anything especially to another country or province, I'm Canadian.
A tree pruning video would be great, Morgan! Would love to learn the proper time and techniques.
Yes please do a video about your trees and pruning.
Yes please! Pruning tree video would be fun and something different!
I have no interest in tree trimming or farming in general but you make it all interesting!!! Your could do a video about grass growing and I’d watch it… your a good film maker, director and story teller!
As a hobby as a kid we had fruit trees and they never went anywhere, I think it's cool! I'd love a pruning video!
Yes, a video about tree pruning would be great! (I have two fruit trees that need to be pruned, but have no idea how.)
I would 100% watch a video all about trees! 🌳
I like watching your daily chores or a "day in the life" videos so I can live vicariously through you!
Aww thats really nice of you taking your captive Allison outside
Congratulations 🎊🎉🎈! Beautiful Bull Calve! Good-bye Kurt! I’ll miss you, but you’re going to be memorable! Raising the animal meat is what feeds the World! Abby! Bouncing around! Run, Abby, Run! Morgan, Thank-you for the Great Update! Please! Tell Alison “Hello”! Great Video!
I'm loving what you're doing, city boy turned country. It's a better and slower lifestyle. Really peaceful. Awesome videos.❤
Anyone else not know anything about farming or ever even been near one and love this channel? My family and I have been watching for a while now and discussed how we stumbled upon Morgan and the rest of the gang! Love the content sir and keep up the good work 😊
PRUNE THE TREES WHILE WE WATCH!
It sounds silly - but yes, my hyperfocus ADHD brain wants that content.
Please and thank you Sir Morgan of the tubes.
all videos with Abbey running are automatically great videos.
Yes, I would like to see you prune your trees.
I love watching you expanding your farm and love your names!
I was hoping you'd have a county fair video! Thanks! 😃
Any video with Allison is a good one😁
It's great to see the farm progress since the beginning. Great job to you both!
Yes pruning video
I really admire your ethics. You genuinely care about your family. Wether they go to freezer camp or breeding. I have watched you for a few years and have watched you grow. Nice job. Whatever you aren't an expert on, you research. Don't let naysayers get to you. Go with your heart. God bless. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the update on the bull calf and the farm.
Having a crazy friendly huge adult bull with respectable horns doesn't seem great lol
You need to watch Ferdinand lol
Great video! I appreciate all the things you talk about. Pruning trees would make for good content.
I for one would love to see a video on pruning fruit trees. My parents had a small orchard and I always enjoyed watching the trees being pruned.
Yes, please! Pruning video would be great! Thanks, Morgan!
Here in Denmark we’ve had an amazing apple year. Or fruit in general. Apples, pears, cherries, plums. Just loads of fruit.
It’s an adorable bull. Just be careful with it.
Yes, I am interested in seeing videos with you caring, pruning, harvesting the trees. I really enjoy all your videos.
I watch every video with excitement that you might mention your buddy Alfred and then we all get to sing along with “my buddy Alfred”
I think with your fruit trees it also the amount of water and sunlight the tree receives that effects it also. You also have your little lady pollinaters working for you. It is nice to see your lady occassionally as well.
I'm really pretty excited about all the many future plans you have for your farm. Well, except for Jimmy Hendrix.... But I understand. I hope you'll be able to do a video when you render and make soap.
My new eight week old kitty Marshmallow was watching your video. If you go to a place where you can get grooming equipment for horses pick up what is called a curry comb. The cows will like being groomed with it. Love your farm. ❤️
The "My Buddy Alfred!" song just makes me happy.
I would enjoy how you give your trees a canopy! In Florida, we had a Llama Farm and the male llamas would eat all the leaves of their sycamore trees and their canopies were so even! It was such a pleasure watching them trim their trees!
Alfred is so beautiful ! he should have his own channel and we would follow him too !!
Morgan anything you do in your fine video's is fine for this old man to watch👻👀......Thanks so much 👍....Shoe🇺🇸
I think naming them is honoring the stars that do die young! Blessed badge of honored and indeed honored and loved! Great work we love it! ❤
At 4:14 you can really see the results of the cows rotational grazing in some parts of the permaculture orchard/pasture. Wonderful shot and a useful video for future reference if needed. You can really see three stages of field growth in the second row.
I love your updates about the trees 🎄🎄🎄
I think its safe to say: we wanna watch all the different farm-contents! We absolutly love you guyses farm, and I am grayefull for the escape from normal life and all the things i learn. So.. prune away!
Yes to the pruning video!
I did something similar with the waterlines in my CSA garden. I got tired of dragging hoses around. My LOVING husband dug trenches and buried pipe to all 4 points I need to use so I can hook up my irrigation, and keep things mowed.
At the same time he put pipe to our dog kennel area. Makes keeping the water trough and doggie pool filled so much easier.
I love how you talked about the water lines. We are constantly trying to strike the balance between figuring out a solution that works for right now vs. doing it right/'perfect' the first time so it doesn't need anymore time or attention. It's great when you hit the sweet spot with a simple solution.
We planted our first orchard (zone 2) this year, so yes, I would like to see videos about fruit trees.
Love drone footage.
We name our pigs even when we know they will be going to the butcher. We show them love and my kids work with them daily and show them at our local fair. This past year we had Sharbait. He was very loved and got and endless supply of his favorite treats ❤️ future food or not they should live a good life full of love and respect. Like you said they just have one bad day.
I’m the 45th viewer! The fair looks like fun, especially seeing your baby bull!
Yes I would like to see the pruning!
I'm definitely interested in a video about pruning, and really any videos about the orchard in general.
Save some of that tallow to cook with!! Best cooking oil ever!
morgan i can't speak for everyone, I think we all just enjoy your personality and your farm, I personally love anything you post even if I think oh I don't know if I want to watch that I have never skipped gone on my phone walked away from my screen nothing I am fully invested in your journey.. anything you do on the farm is my favourite part of youtube. as well as your non-farm content, not that there's too much of that.:)
lol nice modeling job on the t shirt!
I love your tree updates and it'd be awesome to see how you upkeep & prune them
Yes please! I would love to hear more about your trees and forests 😍
